This show's preeetty good so far.
There's a part of me that hopes it's revealed that Marluru is actually just a person wearing a costume. "He's like a Brother!" "..." lol Ignis looks like a Japanese version of the 8th Doctor. I also thought he was going to be a human form of Hudram, but nope! Based on the opening he's probably some sort of Evil Trigger though. Unsurprisingly, the fights are great. GUTS Falcon and Sky Type both get some really cool scenes and the Nursedessei showing up at the end to blow shit up was cool. I like that the Dark Giants just hang out at the bottom of the ocean. If we're getting a bunch of reused Tiga monsters at least they're not monsters we've seen a million times before. Oh, next week we're getting Gubira... |

Do you reckon that plant Kengo carries around will lead to his final mid show power up, or be an endgame monster.

It could also just be a plant

Good episode, but definitely surprised at how quickly the show is pulling out some of what would seem to be major plot details. I would have thought that the Yuzare reveal would be saved for at least the midpoint. Still, I'll take it over the last minute, out of nowhere reveal we got with Pirika in Taiga (and I understand R/B played that card, too).

That flower's totally going to be a monster in the final eps of Trigger and we have a scene like this....
"You were the chosen PLANT! You were supposed to make people smile! Not plunge them in despair/darkness!" LOL |

Trigger is now getting subbed 8 different languages now.
https://en.tsuburaya-prod.co.jp/news/2811 |
I did Ep. 03 of the Galaxy Rescue Force Voice Drama on Friday, but it wasn't subbed! It was totally raw, which is a shame cause it had Andro Melos in it! Do the subs come after the Voice Dramas are released or is this a flub on TsuPro's end?

So... I watched the second and third episode and wow...
This was bad... Like, really bad. The dialogue feels stilted and unnatural, the pacing has the speed of a rocket and I still have no idea who Kengo is besides "Smile! Smile!" There is just no room to breathe, character arcs are rushed through in one episode and there is no shred of humanity found in any of it... If you want to make something like "Smile! Smile!" and everything associated with it, like making people smile, work in a show that takes its plot this seriously, you need to put in the legwork! The feel-good, comedy show should not be using your catchphrase and make it feel way more earned! I'll continue watching, but this is just some of the worst Tokus I've seen until now, at least for me. |
Yeah, the pacing feels very rushed. They've condensed enough material for 5 or 6 episodes down into 3. Hopefully they're just getting exposition out of the way and the rest of the show will be better paced.

Completely unrelated, but I've been watching a bit more OG Ultraman lately and I think Pestar may be my new favorite kaiju. I love how ridiculous but creative that suit is.

Did Tsuburaya channel skip Cosmos episode 20?

Hopefully there isn't some behind-the-scenes reason for its exclusion... |
Finished Tiga, movie included. Wow, what a good series. My favorite from all the Ultra shows I've finished so far (X, Leo, Nexus). Not sure how I'd rank 'em though.
ALSO...figuring out if Daigo is a host or actually Tiga never got any more clear lol. It's interesting though. Show sort've treats him as if he was a reincarnation of ancient Tiga in a sense. |
Fairly sure they said Daigo was both human and the light which to me implied he wasn't just a host, he was Tiga. At least that's how I took it.

Unfortunately, it seems as though a two-week break is coming for Trigger after Ep. 4!

Wow, Trigger is really deflating my interest in wanting to watch it, huh?

Yeah it's good to see the other Z forms getting used. That was my one dissapoinment with Geed return in Z is that we didn't see him use any other form despite all the nesscary medals to make them were available and Riku could've sinply asked Haruki to borrow them

What's the significance of that flashback? Was Trigger part of the Dark Giants before he betrayed them and joined the light? Is that part of why they're so obsessed with him? Is this connected to Trigger Dark somehow?
So Guts-Select visits and catalogs ancient ruins and artifacts. They even have their own separate uniform. Cool that they diversify themselves that much. Ignis is like Diend if he was played by Basco. So a lot of the tech is based off the ancient transformation device used by the original Trigger? I wonder if it still works? Was there anything to Ignis and the commander acknowledging each other beyond two super tough guys becoming aware of one another? Yeah, I'm with Ignis there, that was like the worst time for Kengo to go "smile, smile." Oka-Gubila kicked dirt into Trigger's face! How rude! Trigger settles it with a weapon finisher! Hey, Trigger did the flying off into the sunset to avoid suspicion thing! So they need Yuzare to awaken because she knows where the core they're searching of is? I'm worried about what they'll do to Yuna... Carmearra is talking about Trigger like a really bitter ex-lover. |
Only one thing seems to be coursing through Kengo's brain and those are smiles.

Looks like Ignis is blasting off agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain! *Ding*
Okay, so last episode, I liked, it had better pacing and showed off the dynamic for the team which I want to see more of. And now that all of the forms have been introduced, I was hoping we could get into some character focus and development... Well, I sure know how to make a prediction. This episode was okay, but probably a step back, heck, now Kengo's "make everybody smile" thing is now just something he says whenever something happens. Because, I was fine with it earlier, but now, there's no point in trying to shrug it off now that we're past the point of introduction. Honestly, after Taiga and Z, two great shows, surely a Tiga reimagining in the style of the New Generation shows would be great. But this is starting to become a problem, as evidenced in the previous shows mentioned, the characters are just... there. Now, for some positives, the lore and fights are really good, and there are some funny moments here and there, like Kengo shouting "Smile, smile" to Ignis who's holding on for dear life and getting blasted off into space, or cool moments like the Captain beating Ignis (Why am I enjoying Ignis' misfortune?). I don't want to be negative about this season because I was looking forward to it, but now that we're getting the two-week break, with the next episode being a special episode about the Defense Teams, I'm having a difficult time figuring out how I feel about this show. Even with my limited experience with Tiga, it was already a great show, and this I can only hope they pull a Saber. |
Ignis confirmed as the real comic relief of the show. :lolol
Would like to share that the oka in Okagubila means "ridge" as in mountain ridges. |
I thought this was a solid episode! It's also the coolest Gubila will ever be, he was really messing Trigger up. Shame he got blown up by such a dumb weapon.
I wasn't expecting Ignis to basically be comic relief, but I'm into it. He has a lot of really good moments and he could end up being a very memorable character! The tiny model Ignis stuck to Gubila for one shot was great. What's the deal with look Ignis and the Captain give each other? Hmmm. I just realised that Trigger doesn't even talk in the "click to subscribe" bit at the end of the episode. Clip shows for the next couple of weeks is a bummer. I assume it's Covid related like the clip shows we got during Z? Oh well, I got Cosmos and Blu-Rays to watch. Quote:

Mega Monster Battle and the Zero Movies/Specials have been released! Photo taken at the Best Buy in Lafayette, Louisiana.
I went ahead and bought both. For those who want the MovieSpree code, neither set has one and MovieSpree doesn't appear to register the name of any included title. Neither set includes a cute little booklet either. The special(s) involving Zero's contemplation of power after Saga and the one where Belial seemingly kills his team are absent. Playing the Ultra Galaxy Movie offers either Japanese audio or English dub. I chose Japanese and took a few photos of the screen. For those wanting to stream a Zero Movie, Tubi has released the Revenge film, but it appears to be the only Movie of the Zero Era available. P. S.: Tubi and SHOUT! have also released R/B, by the way. |
That seems a super good price for them, wow -- though as I recall the Mega Monster Battle series has really terrible subs on here?
