The best one is Atlantis, which got destroyed by Fish Men... then destroyed by Kronos the bird creature... then dstroyed by the Daemon from The Daemons, all in the space of about 5 years. Quote:
The BBC's Doctor Who website from the early 00's. Contained a lot of photo's and descriptions of old episodes, including bits from several fan works. It's technically unsupported now, but is still hosted, just difficult to access - here's the bit you might be interested in. Bear in mind this entire piece is a fan's own attempt at a timeline, nothing from the people writing the episodes, and is official insofar as it's hosted on a BBC Website ran by James "War Criminal" Goss. EDIT - I am informed by my sources it comes from "The Discontinuity Guide", so is produced under license from the people who were making Doctor Who books at the time, so I guess that makes it even more nebulously official. It's still a retcon of a retcon, mind. |

James Goss is a long-running associate of the show, working on a lot of expanded universe content, including Big Finish, the books, masterminding the Time Lord Victorious multimedia deal you might've seen a few years back, and most importantly for this story, running a bunch of tie-in websites to the show in 2005. This included a website for fictional organisation UNIT, which had been in the show since the 60's, explicitly calling it the "UNITED NATIONS Intelligence Taskforce". There was a little disclaimer at the bottom of the page saying how the website was for a totally fictional show, but it was easily missed. To the Doctor Who Production Office's door one day arrives a letter, claiming to be from the UN, asking them to modify the website to make it clearer its not associated with the actual UN. Everyone had a good laugh at the obvious prank, and it got forgotten about. Until the next one showed up, highlighing the bit of the Geneva Conventions governing the use of UN symbols and threatening legal action. James Goss, webmaster at the time, phoned up showrunner RTD, slightly terrified of being deported to the Hague, and they quickly changed the website and even the name of the organisation. From their next appearance in Series 4, just to be safe, they were renamed the "UNIFIED Intellgence Taskforce". It's a nothing-change, and the show still makes allusions to them being a UN Organisation, but there's now much less chance of any webmasters being accused of violating Geneva Conventions. (It's also funny because of his twitter threads detailing how he's been dragged into Turkish courts due to owning a listed building or something? Goss has an interesting life.) |

I've seen Rose - The Power Of The Doctor on DVD as well as Shada with the 4th Doctor and The Scream Of The Shakla with the alternate 9th Doctor.
It's close to time for the 14th Doctor so yesterday I sawpped in to Disney +. I had even managed to finish Power Rangers Dino Fury on Netflix. Generally I have one active feed. While I wait for Doctor Who I can catch up stream exclusive Marvel shows and any Star Wars episodes I missed. Also will be watching any MCU movies I have yet to see. I'll be using my I Pad next month. The reason I switch feeds is because the shows I watch go on break after I watch the last active episode. It depends on what shows are running. |

What was this weird car thing in "Invasion of the Dinosaurs"?
|
That’s the Whomobile, a car Jon Pertwee had created specifically for use in the show.

Been thinking about signing up for Brit-Box, but there are concerns about what is truly available via that option.
For example, Hartnell's last regular arc, "The Tenth Planet", seems to be missing in its entirety! Is that merely an example of still-missing arcs, or have some arcs that have been rereleased to DVD/Blu-ray in the past few years (with possible animation to cover the gaps) still not received a digital upload up to this point? It should be noted that "The Tenth Planet" is not alone in this. There are other arcs which are clearly not available on Brit-Box. That one was just a convenient and noteworthy example. |
BritBox doesn't have any of the animated reconstructions, full or partial. Last I knew, at least some of them were available via AMC's premium service. Not sure what'll happen with that with the Disney+ deal coming up soon.
The only exception is that they have a telesnap version of Wheel in Space, which was supposed to be the first of several recreations that never actually materialized. |

It's possible. I have that one on DVD so I haven't checked its BritBox status. I hope they have some of them; a trip through the Troughton era is really barren if you don't have any of the reconstructions.

Well, the readers of Doctor Who Magazine have voted for the 36 best stories, three from each Doctor’s run (with The Movie getting automatically added as a 37th finalist), but in doing so, they also picked the 12 worst stories, also one for each era. Now I want you to vote for either the best of the worst, or the absolute rock bottom, using this poll. Either way, I’ll be having a group watch the winner next month. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...rm?usp=sf_link

Two more William Hartnell Serials have been located, but the "owners" are scared of legal reprisals for possessing what could technically be considered "stolen".
Unclear which Serials, but one does involve the Daleks. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...nd-them-to-bbc |
Not sure if anyone here knows about what just happened. Maybe you do and think nothing of it, maybe you even favour it. But I'm just going to vent my disbelief.
Children In Need had another short, this one featuring Davros at the time the first Dalek is being finalised. Again played by Julian Bleach but still humanlike like the rest of the Kaleds. Therefore before his incident. Or rather you presume that. Except now Russel T Davies has said this is now how Davros looks! He's no longer crippled or scarred or deformed or disabled, because a person like that being evil is now discriminatory and offensive! 🤨 |

His performance in the short was phenomenal. I always said that if we ever got to watch pre incident Davros, they need to give real thought to his presentation, and if the current actor would or could not do so like this, then someone of equal calibre would have to be found. Bleach was just as impactive like this as he was as traditional old Davros, but the fact that he is now meant to have only ever been like this completely undermines it.
If they are going to portray him as in the short they have to give a truly considered thought out explanation for it, not just say now he never went through any of what he did. Because then it might as well be another character entirely. |
So I just finished my watch of The Daleks in colour. A fantastic update of the story! It now has the feel of a seventies era story in my opinion. The rescore changes and increases the mood in the right places, although at times is a bit over the top and then some, sometimes being a bit loud and sometimes not fitting in with the rest of the delivery. The improved and newly added effects are graded and made to feel like they come from a lot nearer the time rather than having been done today, and the changed or newly added dialogue bridges and pads out scenes than needed it whilst making things more consistent with changes in the lore that took place in the years after broadcast. The city, whether being seen as model or cgi works a treat, and the performances at times feel so much more vivid and captivating. It goes from having felt like a story that went on too long, to one that moves along at suitable pace, although the last quarter into the ending does seem almost rushed now, like at a completely different pace to the rest of story up to that point. There are of course key parts that they could do nothing to alter without changing them entirely, and they remind you that yes, this was from 1963. There are things I would definitely have done differently. Otherwise this was a good job very well done.

Tubi has all of Doctor Who Generation I up to the 7th Doctor.
The only mini series not up is the first 4 part story An Unearthly Child due to a bit of a rights fight. I own the entire first year of Doctor Who on DVD with Bill Hartnell. Also up to Story 12 from his 2nd year. On Tubi I'm starting The Claws Of Axis with Jo and 3. I saw up to that point on Brit Box VIA Amazon Prime. |
Are your first three stories in "The Beginning" boxset? That was how I got them for the collection back in the day. A lot of the memorable stories were also part of those memorable boxsets!

Doctor Who XL (New Era 14)
60th Specials Part 1 The Star Beast A wild start to the incoming 15th Doctor but I liked it. This was a good strong start. Part 2 The Wild Blue Yonder This one reminded me of the Red Dwarf episode Can Of Worms when the boys ran into polymorph doubles. Duplicate Donna and 14 were a bit nuts but a good what if you had to fight yourself idea. Part 3 The Giggle This one was nuts all the way start to finish. Also the bi regen part totally threw me off. Usually you see one Doctor regenerate into the next. Makes me wonder if Disney might be planning some sort of Marvel type stunt with alternate realities with the Doctors be it re cast if needed. |
Doctor Who XL
04 The Church On Ruby Road Saw this on Dailymotion today. This one was a strong start to Ruby and the 15th Doctor. As for the episode it's more along the lines of some other episodes. This one made me think of the time when 10 and Donna ran into the Adipose. Over all Ruby and the 15th are a solid pair In 2024 we'll see how the next 8 play out as a whole. |

As for Disney, they can?t be ?planning? anything, as they have no creative control. They supply funding, but part of the deal was that all final decisions still rest solely with the BBC. |
Lady Christina has made her first game appearance in
Doctor Who during the Doctor Who Lost In Time main game story and you get her as one of two players for The Shadow Proclamation Waypoint. She was not playable in Doctor Who Legacy. The game has 5 new people coming into the main game Waypoints. Lady Christina was in the 2008 / 2009 specials. |
Jackie Tyler has made her first game appearance in Doctor Who - Lost In Time over the weekend.

Recently on DVD I had a chance to watch the following
The Power Of The Daleks Shada The Scream Of The Shakla The Infinity Quest Dreamland On an anime DVD set exclusive to the USA. Shada was the uncut anime / live action hybrid. Scream Of The Shakla was a web series. The Infinity Quest was split into mini sodes. Dreamland was also split into 15 minute segments or so. Another version of Shada had linking narration from the 4th Doctor. |

Will see these on Dailymotion. I did watch The Power Of The Doctor on BBC America. |
Watched
Doctor Who Series XVII Shada Parts 1 - 6 On DVD. Got this with The Infinity Quest Dreamland Scream Of The Shakla Power Of The Daleks Parts 1 - 6 I felt that Shada was the right way to end Series XVII and would have lead to the 5th Doctor's regeneration. Seeing it uncut rather than as Parts 1- 6 took me 3 days. Over all I actually liked Shada. The swap from live to anime back and forth took some getting used to. I get why that happened. It was still good to finally see a lost mini series. I'm watching the 3rd Doctor on Tubi. |
What was the real reason Tom Baker refused to return for "The Five Doctors"?
One account I saw suggests that it was a personal decision cause it was too soon after the change from his "Fourth Doctor" to Pete Davidson's "Fifth Doctor", but that feels a little too easy; an oversimplified cop-out. It should be noted that publicity photos for the serial exist, but Tom Baker's refusal meant that they had to rely on a life-size wax mockup of Tom Baker's "Fourth" from Madame Tussaud's! |

This was a bit of a surprise
I was able to get an NTSC R1 set on order for the 12 new episodes of Doctor Who. Usually as it's a Disney + series we don't see a DVD release. What happened with Doctor Who to allow this? Also as is the case like USA releases this set will include The Star Beast The Wild Blue Yonder The Giggle Donna and the 14th Doctor were on the back cover of the USA set. |
Interested in listening to some of the Big Finish Audio Dramas, but I'm a little indecisive when it comes to finding one to start with.
Recommendations are appreciated. |
Well 2 of them come to mind with the 10th Doctor and Donna
Technophobia One other one I can't remember the name of |

The usual best ones to check out for each Doctor are - Spare Parts, starring the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa stumbling upon the dying planet Mondas, which went on to inspire 2 different Cyberman stories - Jubilee, a prototype/different take on TV story "Dalek", where the Sixth Doctor and original companion Evelyn Smythe stumble into a British Empire overtaken by Dalekmania - The Chimes of Midnight, generally held up as one the best Eighth Doctor story starring Paul McGann, as he and companion Charley Pollard stumble into a murder mystery in a haunted house. - Colditz, where the Seventh Doctor and Ace are trapped in a POW camp, racing against time to stop Nazis reverse engineerig their technology and winning WW2. Other personal recommendations I can make if you want are "The Church and the Crown", "Seasons of Fear", "Singularity", "The Holy Terror", "The Fearmonger", "The Council of Niceae", and "Arrangements for War. If you want something more modern, I have heard very strong things about their recent Eleventh Doctor Chronicles range, starring impressonist Jacob Dudman as The Eleventh Doctor with original companion Val Lockwood. Failing that, I can recommend the 10th Doctor Dalek Universe series, which is a fun throwback of Tennant into the world of 60s Dalek stories. |
