Does a foreign Pokemon keep it's name when you evolve it? I'm curious.

If it's a nickname, yes. If it's the original name, it'll become it's english name when it evolves. Know this cause of my Dusclops from english Diamond being traded to my Japanese Diamond and evolving into Dusknoir there, then traded back it retained the Japanese.

I got a Solosis from Japan in my copy of Black whose name changed from ユニラン to Duosion when it evolved. So yeah, it probably will.

Pokemon goes through a great effort to expand, and then prevents you from keeping a Pokemon's name from whatever region it came from?

Sucks knowing my Japanese Abra and French Bergmite's names will just revert to English.

Does anyone here know if a Furfrou you put in a box will still revert to it's natural form after 5 days? If it does, it really doesn't become worth it keeping them all in my living Dex...

Putting Furfrou into the box will automatically revert it back into it's normal form, regardless of time remaining.

I caught Yveltal yesterday! I really liked the music. Also, there's a lot of people bragging about how they caught Xerneas/Yveltal with a Pokeball on the fist try, which I don't get, since cover legendaries have very high catch rates. As for the fight itself...it was the hardest cover legendary fight I've ever played. Also, Oblivion Wing is a flying type move, surprisingly.

Outside of the flashy fights, it was really pretty subpar. When the rival has what closer resembles a character arc compared to the protagonist, it's hard to care. Hell, Giovanni was 10 times more interesting than Red, and he was on screen for a combined, what, 8 minutes?

My favorite character was the guy who Red (accidentally) tried to steal from. :lol

I chuckled during that part :p

So my sister got a 3DS and Pokemon X... and she's going to let me use it until I can get my own and a copy of Y. :D

Yeah it was a pretty fun scene.

So far, only need to catch Moltres is the last "storyline" related thing I need to do left :lol. Currently trying to catch Pokémon to name after characters from Dangan Ronpa. So far, we have my baby Kirigiri (Sylveon), Celes (Mawile), Ohgami (Abomasnow), and Leon (Litleo.)

So today I set off to face the Elite Four, to which I said 'oh'.

I mean I've put in over twenty hours into the game, so it isn't like I really have anything to complain about but after leaving the first gym, it felt like I'd gone on a real adventure between that gym and the second but minus the Team Flare detour, I've largely felt like I've just been moving from gym to gym in a monotonous loop and the routes between cities felt more like annoying padding that simply delayed the inevitable which reward you little for going out of your way to explore them, and add no real substance to my experience.

Even seemingly memorable locations like that sanctuary for abused pokémon (for kids!) largely turned out to be...well just another patch of grass with the same three pokémon in.

Although I felt White was a little too hard for a kids game, the level spikes forced you to stay in each location for longer to train, and it made the game last so much more, and the way they paced like the legendary stuff and all the rest made it feel like you had more game (even if you get the legendary so late they basically become pointless).

I don't hate Y, but I don't feel quite as blown away by it as the internet seems to be. It just feels shallow.

After the story in Black and White (which I considered pretty good) I can see how one might feel that way. This story is thinner, but it's more of a story that Gens 1 or 2 had. About on par with 3's I would say (in terms of complexity), and I don't know what Gen 4's story is like.

Easiest way is just to evolve a Fletchling. I happen to keep one on my team, so I was covered when I wanted to make eggs.

I dunno man, maybe there really are things you can grow out of. When I was like five or whatever, with my first Gameboy, Pokémon was incredible. You had this whole world in your hands, your world, your own little gang of friends and it was just incredible.

And although I don't believe in reinventing the wheel, given all the technological advances in the last fifteen years Pokémon seems to only just now be advancing.

White and White 2 were a step in the right direction, the stories although primitive, made it feel more like an actual....game, and not just a repetitive loop of battle after battle. But I feel like Y is a step in the wrong direction, stripping all the story and complexity White and White 2 added and focusing entirely on advancing the visuals instead.

If Y had the same gorgeous visuals, but attempted to build upon the depth, continuity and complexity W/W2 brought to the table, it may well have been a masterpeice but instead it just feels more like a showroom demo.

I had another encounter with a trainer via street pass. This was funny when we were battling i was walking through walmart, i looked up and saw the guy i was battling giving me an awkward look then he closed hi's 3DS and walked away.

Wow, you really consider X and Y to have that terrible a story? Damn, that's cold. I mean, they're not super amazing, but really, as terribly linear and poor as Gen 3's?

Gen 4 had a better story, I believe, but none of the Pokemon games have particularly good stories, really.

No. I'm fine with it. It's just not as complex as Black and White. (and granted it's been at least 10 years since I've played Gen 3, so my memories are hazy.)

I actually didn't think Black and White were complex in the slightest. The game had story beats every 10 steps, yes, but that doesn't make it more complex. That just made it tedious and linear since the game played itself for you. N's story and background are played up, but are laughably simple when you get down to it, Ghetsis is revealed to be as generic a villain as every other Pokemon bad guy, and the story of Reshiram and Zekrom amount to nothing, since they're just extensions of N's 'story' and N is revealed to be nowhere near as important as everyone thought he was, just a tool used by Ghetsis, and nothing more.

I was just saying that I felt it had more of a story than generations before it. I do agree that Gethsis' reveal did suck. It would've been nice to see a guy who legitimately believes that capturing Pokémon is evil.

EDIT: As for Lysandre. I feel he is one of the more interesting Pokémon Villians, since his motivations weren't just "I wanna rule the world, because I'm evil!"

Oh yeah W/B's story sucked, but it had one, that is the point. This game was a step backwards, not forwards.

Is it weird to say that Clemont, Serena and Bonnie are my favorite Ash travel companions since Hoenn?
