I do wish Akito gets his own Sparklence and his own Ultra form down the line. It would be difficult for Kengo if the 3 Dark Giants and their respective pet monsters will gang up on him down the line.

Ultraman rarely does secondaries, and the only ones that come to mind that appeared significantly later were Hikari and Ultraseven 21. Others like Agul and Zero (in Geed) were there basically from the start.
They might do a secondary Ultra just for the sake of "oh it's TDG so do an Agul", but there's nothing hinting towards it right now and I wouldn't get your hopes up |

Yeah, I'd say Ignis, Tatsumi, and Akito are probably my favorites so far. Kengo just lacks some character backstory and such to prove me otherwise.
In regards to those scans: Holy moly, Trigger Dark looks fantastic!!! I love how they didn't do the Evil Tiga route with him just being a recolor, especially those protrusions on the body. Wasn't expecting them to give Dada new faces, but... I guess that's certainly something interesting. Hopefully we do get character focus on the other GUTS Select crew and keep a consistent pace, but looking at these, I probably shouldn't get my hopes up. Still, at least it Trigger looks amazing. |

Z was injured, but more prominently he was a rookie; and basically had to rely on the powers of his predecessors before he could grow into his own in the finale with Haruki's help.
... still, Gamma Future is just cool, so why not keep using it :p |

Says that Camearra brought back Trigger Dark via sorcery. I guess it is either a manifestation of sort or she plucked him out from a certain period of time.

Okay so I got the Guts Spark Lens in the other day, and it is a really cool toy. I love how the sounds are split between the Lens itself and the Keys. The Keys are really loud and you don't even notice that the sound is coming from a different source. Also on the back on the keys there's pens, I think those could be for something in the future or are for the Circle Arms (which I don't own but it looks cool). Overall I love it, and hope to get more keys in the future, and maybe even another lens/reader type thing if possible since there's 2 buttons at the top of the Keys, and I can only thing of 3 of the 4 combos being used by the Spark lens.
Edit: Also I just want to say I'm enjoy ultraman trigger as a show. Kengo isn't a great protagonist, but I actually really enjoy the mystery with triggers memories entering his brain, and that that's treated as kind of horrifying. I like Akito from what I've seen so far, I like his frustration and want to protect others, and how that revolves around a want for greater power. I also like thief man (who I can't be bothered to look up the name of). The villains having more presence is great after Z barely had the main big bad involved till the last act. I also like how it feels more serialized (or does at least to me). |

Mmmmmm... Geed is my son, but don't like the look of that shoulder.
Or the price tag that's probably attached. |

Okay that was a great episode, mostly because I got to see Ultraman Z and Haruki again, it was great seeing those two dummy's take an entire like minute trying to figure out the Sparklens.
Also Barossa Aliens are always fun because they can pull out great references, like that fish! It was great seeing that adorably dangerous stone sea creature again. |
This is my favorite episode so far. Haruki and Z were hilarious trying to figure out the Sparklence. It's great to see the back and forth between Haruki and Kengo, they go well together. Haruki is always great to see with so much high energy. The Dark Giants' banter were fun to see, too. Darrgon interests me.
But that was also kind of my worry. Really showed how high energy Haruki and Z are as a duo compared to Kengo. I had a fat smile in Z and Haruki's hijinks and then I'm completely ambivalent to anything else. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-ZvsnuW...jpg&name=large |
Let us chant out his name once more!
This was a fantastic episode! Seeing Z and Haruki again made me so happy, especially having the theme song play during the fight. I also really enjoyed Kengo and Haruki's banter, just really wholesome and enjoyable. Speaking of enjoyable, Barossa IV was a lot of fun, with his baby Zandrias "Parrot," who even talks for him, to the slew of easter eggs from Ignis using the translator device from the Zarab episode in the original Ultraman, to the talking money fish from Mebius. There were probably more, but those were a few I recognized. Really loved Ignis (once again showing the Guebasser feather) this episode, especially them showing off each other's treasures. The use of the Sparklence for Z to transform was genius, and them trying to use it was even better, I'm guessing Z's going to be what Geed was for Z. But overall, I'm glad to see Haruki and Z again, and not just one episode! (He even got the Subscribe screen window!) Next Episode: King Joe Storage Custom goes rogue, along with everything else, most likely the work of Bizarro Dada (yes, I'm calling him that). And what's this? Tesshin is going to be taking some spotlight!? That's fine, but I'm more looking forward to more Z and Haruki. |
Yeah so uh. Favourite episode of Trigger yet; actually got me really enjoying the episode and laughing at a bunch of stuff! Just a wonderful comeback with a lot of great comedy; Haruki and Z being on point... and perhaps most surprisingly and wonderfully for me, it actually made me like the Trigger characters more! I've been really lukewarm on everyone except Ignis so far, but this had me getting into Kengo and Akito's relationship here. Something about the way it contrasted with Haruki as a third party made it click for me, and... and yeah, just wow; one of the best things this episode could have done! Very into this, very ready for part 2 next week :)

Yoko! Sevenger! Too bad they missed out on the multi-dimensional adventure...
Well, our main cast finally got introduced to the Ultraman multiverse through Haruki and Z. It was great to see Haruki and Kengo bond and compare each other as respective Ultra hosts, even down to comparing their transformation devices and annoying Akito with their enthusiasm. Ignis practically lives on the Nursdessei now with the amount of times he just wanders in when the plot needs him too. He also acts like such a charming thief so him acting so petty against a pirate and running for dear life when Barossa turned giant was funny. Even the Dark Giants get to comment on the events of the monster-of-the-week, with Carmerra prodding a recovering Hudram and Darrgon still feeling that slap. Haruki gets his own Sparklence and misses the part where you have to unlock it to transform and then ends up shooting Z when they do the transformation. That was hilarious. Nothing quite like getting attacked by a talking stone fish. There we go! Trigger and Z teaming up to Z's Opening Theme! That's what I was waiting for and that whole fight was pretty awesome. I'm guessing they'll save a dual Ultra Beam for the next episode. I also love how they're both flying off and Z's Z-trail knocks Trigger off. I wasn't sure if Ignis was going to return the Ultra Medals, but it was nice of him to do. Although his good deed of the day didn't save him from getting pooped on... |
I'm not an Ultra.
There, there, Akito. You'll get your time. |
Not much to say that hasn't already been said. I loved the shot of Z and Trigger summoning their swords. I hope the show can keep up this fun energy after Z leaves.

Haruki with the GUTS Sparklence is Ultra-comedy gold. And Ignis never disappoints. :lolol
I love how Kei Hosogai gets a crack at comedy in this show as Ignis. |
The whole treasure off was pretty funny.
But yeah, one of the better crossovers. Funny, but also works to highlight the cast of this show as seen through an outsider's eye instead of just being about the guest cast. |
I love that Haruki having no idea how to use the transformation devices carried over to this series. Also liked that, as a pilot, he was far more interested in Nursedessei's systems than in discussing Ultramen with Kengo. This was a very silly episode, overall, but in a way that was just a ton of fun.

Despite the fact that the COVID-19 Pandemic is still ravaging all over Japan and all over the world, Tsuburaya Productions have recently said that the shooting of Ultraman Trigger New Generation Tiga is done safely without having Coronavirus infections on the cast, the production crew, the cinematographers and the staff. They did this because they followed the strict health protocols given by the Ministry of Labor, Health and Welfare. We're gonna miss those smiling faces of everyone at TsuPro!!! Stay safe, guys!!! Here is the link:
https://www.jefusion.com/2021/09/ult...p-filming.html As for the next year's Ultraman Series, do you think Mio Kudou will be brought in by Tsuburaya Productions after her success in the Kamen Rider Series (Kanon Fukami/Kamen Rider Kanon Specter of Kamen Rider Ghost) and the Super Sentai Series (Sayo Ooharu/KiramaiPink of Mashin Sentai Kiramager) in order for her to complete the Tokusatsu Trifecta or Trinity? Lots of Tokusatsu fans are requesting for her to do so! You decide! |
To anyone who has seen Ultra Q Dark Fantasy can you tell me what ep 6 was about? Because I just saw it and I'm confused as hell. Other than Green Racer being there as well as the girl who was a nurse on Tiga and Dyna and a pilot in Gaia, I don't know what was going on.

How is Trigger, by the way? I've heard its probably the worst Ultra in recent years from friends on Twitter and Discord. Yet I've also heard a small percentage of people love it.
So I'm a bit conflicted. Is the show good so far? |

IMO Trigger is the worst show since Ginga, but that's only because the shows in between have been so good. It's still enjoyable, just not great. The major problems have been the rushed pacing of the first few episodes and the lack of strong characterization. I don't feel the main plot is being progressed well, either.
|
I haven't enjoyed it much before the Z episodes, but ultimately it's New Gen Ultra; and none of those are really 'bad'
|
Trigger has been feeling very weak for me so far. We're over a fourth of the way through the series and I still don't feel attached to the cast at all. The villains are dull and, as has been mentioned, it's trying to be this weird pseudo-remake/homage to Tiga and all that's doing is making me want to rewatch Tiga.
The story seems to be going in directions I know I won't stand (we're planting the seeds for everyone to fall in love with the female lead, including one of the villains), and Koichi Sakamoto is just not that good at directing giant monster action. This past episode directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi was far and away the best directed one so far, and it's no coincidence the best episode so far also happened to be the one featuring Ultraman Z. All in all, it feels like it still hasn't even started yet. |
Z was a tough act to follow.

I got no problem with the villains, though. I think they're fun, especially when it's Carmearra lol. But I'm only really invested in Akito's thing so far. |
The lack of generic Guts-Select might be due to Covid precautions, but that still doesn't excuse the shallow characterization.
|
The name GUTS-Select always implied to me that this was a unique specialist group. Likewise in Tiga, GUTS is a special unit within the wider TPC base; a lot like Ultraseven. And it's more obvious in Tiga since they are in a huge base of TPU members, but I imagine it's a similar case with GUTS-Select and TPU -- they're just a part of that wider unit, and they're the ones that go out and battle kaiju.
