Okay guys, I'm no moderator but this conversation is getting a tad out of hand. Mind changing the subject and getting back on subject? :o
|
Duly noted.
So we're on like, what? The fourth episode of Space Dandy? What does everyone think? |
I haven't watched Toonami since October. I lost interest. The last time I even tuned in was to watch some of Akira.
|
They're bringing Black Lagoon to Toonami soon. I've watched it already and loved it and I hope everyone else likes it too.
|
I wish they'd clean up the block There's no need for two Naruto shows, or Star Wars.

It is what I'm talking about. If Toonami started earlier it would make some sense. But having it on at 3:30 in the morning doesn't help much. If they want kids to watch it, play it earlier, not when they're sleeping.

Now let's just get back on track with this simple question: What is the Best Miyazaki Film? |
Quote:
"The national age of consent in Japan is 13 as specified by the Japanese Penal Code Articles 176 and 177.[36][dead link] ‘Rape’, Art. 177 Penal Code 'A person who, through violence or intimidation, has sexual intercourse with a female person of not less than thirteen (13) years of age commits the crime of rape and shall be punished with imprisonment at forced labour for a limited term of not less than two years. The same shall apply to a person who has sexual intercourse with a female person under thirteen (13) years of age.'[37] 'Indecency through compulsion', Art. 176 Penal Code 'A person who, through violence or intimidation, commits an indecent act upon a male or female person of not less than thirteen (13) years of age shall be punished with imprisonment at forced labour for not less than six months nor more than seven years. The same shall apply to a person who commits an indecent act upon a male or female person under thirteen (13) years of age.'[37]" |

That and I've only ever seen a bit of Howl's Moving Castle and bits and pieces of Spirited Away. :lol Gosh...I was going to watch Macross 7 over winter break, but it never happened. :( |

Well, I've been watching Evangelion, Lain, and Gundam. So basically means anime that is violent and brutal.

Anyone saw From Up on Poppy Hill? That's not Hayao Miyazaki, but his son's. |
Started watching Attack on Titan yesterday. Not too far in, I think 7 or 8 episodes maybe. Really enjoying it.
Was thinking of rewatching Gantz as well, haven't watched my DVDs since I first got 'em. Also started up Digimon Fusion. I'd be lying if I said the original seasons weren't as cheesy, but the nostalgia at least helps a bit there. But I do want to give the show an honest chance and I don't dislike what I've seen so far. |
Space dandy. ...What the flying, bloody, holy, mother of all that is good in the universe happened here?

We finished Mitchiko & Hatchin today and I have to say that I am nothing short of disappointed. The first 11 episodes to the show were great. Then there were some okay episodes followed by some great ones again. The last several episodes were a let down and the ending was just down right insulting. It pretty much makes the entire series pointless and I do not like what the future held for Hatchin. I have no desire to ever watch the show again, which is a shame as there were some great stories told within it, but there was no need for this series to be anything more than 15 episodes. Overall, I give it a 4/10.

Super Sonico: The Animation episode 1:
Ok, I wanted to know what Super Sonico's deal was, and what was with all the merchandise surrounding Her. The animation was pretty good overall. It's no Kyoto Ani or Studio Bones, but it's still pretty good. As for writing...some of the jokes dragged a bit, and it felt a little erratic, though that could just be because of the whole thing with Sonico going all White Rabbit. So, it's...eh overall. |

So Space Dandy is kind of meh. It is funny but there seems to be no continuity between each episode at all as whatever happens in one episode is fixed off screen by the next. It is kind of annoying and makes the previous episode pretty forgettable.
|
Noragami, having a blast with it, the fact that it reminds me of Bakemono and the main character is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya has nothing to do with it. :p

You have to remember that Sailor Moon codified that particular archetype. At the time, Usagi was a pretty unusual portrayal of a girl in Japanese media. It's only cliched now because Sailor Moon was so influential. |
A Tale of Momotaro reference in Okamisan and her seven companions! >_>
|
Finally starting Madoka Magica.

It's not focusing on them just because there are toys to sell. They all have a purpose in the show's fiction. It's similar to toku, but also different in that in HeartCatch's case it's not introducing like one-off items because there are toys to sell to the kids. |

I saw some clips of the DBZ special that had Vegeta's brother in it.
It seems like a pretty fun movie, yeah it has all the DBZ cliches but what's making it work is how everyone isn't really taking it seriously, they're all acting like it's an ordinary day for them which in their universe it could be considered "Normal" for them which in DBZ is a pretty refreshing change of pace. |
I'll eventually see Madoka, but it won't be until Aniplex releases the series on BD in one collection for a much much MUCH cheaper price than they are trying to sell each volume.
