I think they have a will of their own or something. I don't really know, I've been watching Kabuto for so long I've forgotten why anything happens.

A. plot holes
B. Zect is stupid as hell to lose them and someone was fired for it then that person was subsequently replaced by a worm which then got killed by Kabuto.

The Zectors are sentient to a degree.
It's not a plot hole. It's made pretty clear from episode 1.

The plothole is why make them sentient? What does that achieve?
