Research is not going to make him act better. I don't care if he lives in Japan. I don't care if he is doing that on purpose. I only care how i see him act in the show because that is all that matters to me. And I haven't paid much attention to Kyoryuger discussions.

It's like someone telling me Arnold got the role of Conan for being a body builder. Big deal, he sucks as Conan because he did not have the character down. I don't care the reasons why he did it that way, he didn't do the character correctly, and that is all that matters.

He's acting that way because they want him to play a character who doesn't normally speak Japanese. Your complaint is entirely irrelevant and pointless when the defining trait of the character is the fact that he's foreign.

His bad acting? That's the joke. He's supposed to be a non-Japanese character, despite being a Japanese man.

His lines being stilted and badly delivered? That's intentional on the actor's part, because he's acting.

He's doing the character correctly because the point of the character is that he's not native.

If you mean ethnicity, Robert Baldwin is Caucasian, not Japanese. Otherwise, he's a Canadian born in Japan. Either way, I agree the bad Japanese is intentional as that's the character and the joke.

According to the PR Wiki, he's Japanese-Canadian. I'd be willing to believe he's a full Canadian who lives in Japan, but I can't find something to the contrary to say he's not partial Japanese.

Why do they start the seasons of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai at different times? Wouldn't it make more sense from a marketing standpoint to start and end them together?

They did start and end around the same time until 2009. Toei made Decade end with 31 episodes so they could start doing KR series in Sept to cash in on Xmas since shows that started in Jan/Feb usually did not have their merchandise out until after Xmas.

They used to air concurrently, but Decade broke that cycle by having only 30 episodes.

I'm pretty positive Dr. Kain hit the nail on the head, to have toys on the shelves for holidays.

It probably keeps all of the new Rider and Sentai merch from competing with each other, too.

My g/f and I just watched the first 11 episodes of KakuRanger. It is so nice to see the series subbed after having watched it raw for 9 years now. Of course, most of it I already understood, but it was nice to now get the little things I could not before. A shame GUIS is only up to 33 though, as I really would have loved to see the whole thing subbed before I watch MMPRS3. Of course, it isn't like anyone has bothered to sub OhRanger (or even put raws up for download) for me to watch before I make my way to Zeo.

I just watched Tensou Sentai Goseiger: Epic on the Movie. Then I looked up Ragnarök on Wikipedia and now I want some old Lego Vikings sets.

Just watched the first of ten Hurricanger episodes and it was...okay. At times it just felt like a cheap Ninja Storm but I did appreciate that it felt more like a show about ninjas, rather than a show about extreme sports that happened to have ninjas in it as well.

Still not sure why the Wind Academy also includes Ground and Water mind you.

To be honest, Hurricanger is an okay show. THe first 12 or so episodes are average and it does get better after that, but as a whole, the show just played everything too safe, especially when compared to KakuRanger (since that is also a ninja theme). Hurricanger has a lot of great potential, the cast is likable, the villains are cool (especially Sandaru and Satorokura), but the execution is bland. It is also one of the few instances where I think the CGI hamster of the master in NS was better than the puppet in Hurri. Outside of that though, nothing NS did is even remotely good.

EDIT: We watched episodes 12-16 of Kaku tonight. Junya is even more awesome subtitled!! :-D There is one issue I have with the subs though. Yellow Kumado is being spelled as Yellow Ursado for some strange reason and I have no idea how they got Ursado. In fact, I'm pretty sure Jaraiya's is supposed to be Black Gamna.

They've changed it from Japanese to Latin to make it more Western by the looks of it, i.e. Ursa instead of Kuma.

As KRDL is moving servers, I checked out another Hurricanger episode and, yeah so Ninja Storm was heavily censored, yeah it played everything for laughs but I grew up with Shane and the gang and their respective zords weapons and powers and unlike say...Shinkenger, the Japanese cast and differences in story have not done enough for me to want anything other than to watch Ninja Storm again.

Maybe if I hadn't have grown up with Ninja Storm I'd hate it as much as Samurai but well...I don't, I really like Ninja Storm. So I'm just so mehed by this.

Meh, Lothor is one of the reasons why NS is bad. I just cannot take a Luchadore seriously as a villain. He is a joke and he looks ridiculous. Ivan Ooze looked more threatening than Lothor. The other issue is that it sounds like the characters were shouting into mics the entire time because the audio just sounds off. Music sounds lower than it should while dialog seems louder than it should.

Hurricanger is better in both music and villains, I agree completely. Although Ninja Storm's theme song was kick ass and I loved it playing during the action.

But as the core of the focus is on the heroes, and the mythology surrounding them, it's really them I'm looking at to be an improvement and I know it's only been two episodes but I saw vast improvements in the Shinkenger heroes in the first episode, I don't really see anything that makes the Hurricanger's any better than the Ninja Storm Rangers, especially as Disney got much better actors than Saban did.

Finishing Gokaiger. next episode is 44, Gokai Christmas here I come

We watched episodes 17-24 of KakuRanger. Have I mentioned how badass Junior is before? I just love watching him walk towards Jaraiya with a chainsaw. Too bad we never got to see Rito do that in MMPR. Again, it is nice to know the full details on some of the background information, as the whole thing about the three sages becoming the mecha went over my head before. I knew they were alive, and were essentially gods, but I missed the stuff about them being humans once.

Oh yeah, and another translation error that is bugging me. Daima-Oh means Great Demon King, but they are translating him as Infernal King. ARGH!!!

Starts the new episode of Kyoryuger, sees the new rangers zord is a motherflibbin spaceship.

Yeah in episode 35, Boi becomes a bodyguard for this ninja clan and he ends up saving the 13th head, who is a 13 year old girl. Well turns out that according to their culture, because he saved her, they're now engaged.

That's my favourite episode in the entire series. I never thought I'd have so many feels for a robot dragon.

From what I've seen from it, I really love Go-Busters. I was warned that the first half is pretty bad but I've not left the first half yet and I've been enjoying the series thoroughly from the beginning. But then maybe that is just because I'm not a big sentai fan, and according to what I've read, Go-Busters does a lot of stuff differently. People sadly, don't often, like change and I can perfectly understand why.

Tecnically I have to finish Fourze first, but I'm really looking forward to Go-Busters, the differences from other sentai series is one of the things that interests me the most.

Watching some more of Goseiger, i just noticed that they haven't showed the morphing sequence in like ten episodes.

Saw episode 1 of Zyuranger finally. Man is it different than PR. If I have some free time from watching KR Den-O this weekend, I might catch some more.

It's ironic, because Gokaiger was the most by the books "Safe" Sentai I've ever seen (Kyoryuger is being way more bold than Gokai), because of it's status as anniversary.
You'd think people would welcome a non-conventional Sentai with open arms after Gokai, but apparently that's far from the case.

Zyuranger is a really fun show. The Rangers themselves are kinda bland and flat, but the stories are enjoyable, the villains are fantastic, and the mech work is second only to Go-Busters out of all the seasons I've seen.

You know, I've noticed that while watching MMPR, the actual suit for the Megazord is very boxy and makes the Megazord look like his arms are too small, but the individual mecha and the combination sequence seems to have way more effort put into it to actually make them look like mechs than basically anything that comes after it for like twenty years.

When a show makes Kyoryuger look bold, then you have some HUGE problems.
