The Japanese supermarket randomly gets in candy toys, so I picked up the Shodo Double Cross Kamen Rider Black RX last night.

I'm not very knowledgeable about Shodo & co, so some of this might be a bit "well...yeah" but here are my thoughts:

It's pretty nice quality, everything is pre-painted and no stickers. The plastic feels really high quality and is almost...soft? The difference in quality is really apparent compared to my Shodo Chronicle Kuuga figures, which feel a lot cheaper in comparison. You can almost see the difference, with Kuuga being shiny.

My only real complaint is that he's quite a bit shorter than Kuuga (even without the stand) and the weapons came in a separate box.

By the way, it hurt paying almost $15 for this thing when my KR Black Shodo cost about 300 yen in Akihabara and I won the Kuuga set :lol

I got my Shodo-XX2 set and for the most part it's solid. Only downside is my Accel came both with a busted back strut and horribly sloppy face paint which is even more annoying to fix because of the (cool) clear blue visor.

Funny, even though I got the set mainly for the W characters, I think the real stars are RX's alt forms and Zero-Two. Shame the latter's antennae are so easily warped. W's hips are really weird where they can't go fully straight without being extended down. So if you want to put him in his normal pointing pose that all W toys are doomed to do for eternity it's not really happening.

Maybe a bit predictable what it'd be but this is a SUPER good wave. Extremely stoked for retail Psyga and the ridiculous amount of accessories included with each figure here without an accessory box. There's not even much accessory switcharound like with Kabuto 2; the only mismatched accessories are Faiz Blaster's sword and gun modes being included with Riotrooper!

I wouldn't call this wave predictable because Chronicle has never made movie Riders at retail before.

(Much like Geats, the sword comes with Buffa's Entry Form instead of Zombie. I'm fine with this as long as it's the same wave, which this is)

They had most of the set there, I grabbed Black RX because I liked that the most. I might stop by again on Tuesday (I work nearby but hybrid schedule) and pick up the Zero-One.

Well, there was Joker... but I get what you mean. It's one of those things where what else would they do, you know? Especially with Kabuto 2 having a much deeper pull

The case is still 14, so there will be one extra. I hope for an extra Na-go, but I expect it to be Geats Boost Magnum. Also the gun mode of Magnum is included. Lastly, while there's not enough helmets to go around yet, every Rider in this wave has all the stickers options needed.

I like everything in ID2. Strong wave, if a bit cramped. Ninjaman...yeah, I'm buying that. Thankfully the set is very small, so the importing shouldn't be to bad.

I'm glad the Entry forms turned out to be two characters per figure because I was finding it a huge waste that it was looking like the majority of the wave would be essentially the same boring black plastic figure with a different head -- especially pointless when you consider that two of the characters involved (Nago and Buffa) would be able to just create their Entry form between both their signature buckle figures.

This way it's just Ginpen and Merry with alternate Buffa and Nago heads while the majority of the wave goes to actual designs. MUCH better.

Yes, you can do that with the Ginpen/Buffa set, but technically not with the Na-go boxes since that body has the arms that are exclusive to her, you would need to get parts from another entry form to make a Mary.

Noticed something odd while trying to find if Amiami had put up preorders for Donbros Yu-Do 2. I couldn't find a listing, and in fact couldn't find a listing for any So-Do since By8. No Geats, no Faiz, no later waves of Kabuto. Did they just start listing them under some other name I'm unaware of, or does Amiami no longer sell X-Do figures?

Yea, before I scaled back on candy toy, amiami was my preferred site. My gripe with HLJ is that their stock sells out very quickly, at least that's my impression.

Anime-Export seems to have their listings last a bit longer after going live, but it looks like they only carry the retail items. I've had all my orders fulfilled with them so I recommend, though I don't know if they carry as many retail sentai sets as they do rider

Hobby Genki at least also carries any PB stuff for the most part

Better news: They're making four things, Black Sun, his bike, Shadow Moon, and the mantis kajin.
Bad news: It's all Premium Bandai.
Worse news: It's in two sets, so these 4 toys will ultimately cost more.

I usually dislike preban shodo stuff but I might just go for the Black Sun/Battle Hopper set. I loved that show and something about me feels more drawn towards a SHODO bike set than the SHF

SHODO-O10 just came out -- the dupes are Ghoul, Nazca and Ark-One. VERY surprised that Masquerade isn't one of them, especially over Ghoul

Awesome to see more homework votes! They said it's because the homework vote was popular, so maybe we'll also see it get a second round? Either way I'm voting hella hard for Aqua and Pretty Den-O. It's kinda funny how all Chronicle series are included but they covered literally everything from Kuuga so it has nothing there; and then Ryuki and W only have one each -- Ouja Blank and W used specifically by Akiko. It mostly ends up being a Den-O and Gaim vote due to their sheer amount of movie riders

Oh, Ouja! Being the only Ryuki thing on there and sandwiched between Gaim and Kabuto confused me.

Noticed there's no stage show Riders on here. Could you imagine if they put those on here? Like the Gaim are well known, but there's Ryuki and Kabuto ones to and those would be wild to have.

It is odd that we only have 2 (maybe 1) figures for ID3 when it comes out in 2 weeks (set for the 28th, but normally people find them a few days before). Starting to wonder if it's about to get delayed.

They have done near-full wave drops before, so I just assume that's what's happening this time

Having seen this week's episode, I'm wondering whether they're either doing some hasty re-evaluation about what's going into ID3, or decided to take some extra time to take episode-specific pictures. They may be re-thinking at least one character.

I'm curious as to how much notice they have before an episode airs. It's obviously at least a little, given the tight turnarounds they've sometimes managed.

I'd guess it depends. The big forms, stuff with lots of merch and major character stuff, probably as much as any other toy department. The kitbashes, the mashed-together forms, wouldn't surprise me if it was a lot closer to the deadline.
