Perhaps he means the "mini buddy" nature (like in Shinken, Go-On, GoBust and now ZyuOhger) or the constant power upgraded we have now compared to, say, Changeman who basically just had Change Robo and Change Robo's carrier base.

I still don't get it. The only mecha that really felt like partners were the Engine Souls and whatever they were called in Go-Busters. The rest are just little trinkets that grow larger. Yeah, we got, like, 2 scenes of the trinkets playing around in Shinken and Zyuohger, but otherwise, they've just been shapes they throw into the sky for a mech battle.

I finished ToQger and I'm almost done with Jetman. Got to see good old Yutaka Hirose again! That guy's a hell of a good villain (which I suppose Sentai fans have known for like 30 years now).

Also, over 20 in Mask and Magi. Mask has just failed to impress me besides one or two episodes, but Magi has gotten slightly better, not great or pretty good, but I like the mythos it builds and I like Hikaru/MagiShine as a character and what he brings.

Tbh, while I liked maskman, I can understand why people dont like. Its that sentai that doesnt grab everyone. Im also glad that you like Magiranger. To me, I thought magiranger (at the point youre on) started to have a super duper problem that I had with the sentai and push it even more. The sentai is WAY MORE formulaic than usual. But without the extra formulaic part in it, the sentai just kinda failed to get me because the only characters I liked from Magiranger were green and yellow. Otherwise, every character is either unlikeable or just forgettable
