Aside from heavy bias of it being a favorite and having been used to make my favorite PR season, why not? It just got finished being subbed so might as well give it a shot. Though I do also suggest Gingaman and Abaranger (my obligatory Aba recommend returns) as well.

I'm not looking for a reason to go against GoGoV. I'm just curious about what it's like. What are some of it's positives? How are the characters, etc

Gingaman is a great show. Fun characters both in terms of the team, the villains, and even some of the side characters. The story is done well and is a great fantasy mythological one and one of the best of that type that Sentai has done. I could sit here forever and sing Ginga's praises. It is, 100%, my favorite Sentai, EVER and de-throned (upon completion) Hurricanger, which held the title for quite a long time.

Jetman, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Megaranger, Dekaranger, Gekiranger, Goseiger, Gokaiger, and Kyoryuger are all under my belt :)

Wow, sounds like Gingaman is quite well praised~

GoGoV has one of the best red rangers of the entire franchise. There is also a great family dynamic with the show as not only are the rangers siblings, but even the villains are siblings. As such, there are some things that occur throughout the show that really give the feelings between the villains a new dynamic, especially towards the end of it with Zylpheeza. The monsters designs are great and I love how realistic they try to be with the initial mecha. Not to mention the train mech rocks. It also has a great balance of comedy and drama, although sometimes there can be a few really dry episodes. Oh, and I believe this was the last series to not have a sixth ranger (archetype).

Gingaman is good to, but it doesn't make my top 10. The cast is strong and I like the aspect the show does with its villains.

Well, Geki doesn't really have a sixth ranger character (Unless you count GekiBlack and GekiGreen, who join the rangers so late into the game I think there's less than 5 episodes left :lol), but I get what you mean~

The family angle is an interesting one, but not one I'm too terribly interested in. I'm glad to hear it balances comedy and drama nicely, though.

Oh yes, I remember that review now. Yeah, I can totally understand why it'd be so annoying to watch.

Truth be told, I've never actually seen very many straight up sword and sorcery tales. Strange, I know, but I've only ever read/watched works that delved into it briefly, but never played it completely straight. Gingaman might actually be my first :lol

Also, wow, that is a surprising amount of restraint.
