Gun chucks are incredibly and stupidly awesome.

Overall while it had it's weak moments, volume one was enjoyable, it's just that very little happened.

I agree, but Season 1 is still not over! ONWARD TO VOLUME 2!! (More action of Yang, and Weiss plz, mostly Yang :P) Also backstory on Ruby, and Yang as well!

Yang and Ruby definitely need more backstory, but mostly Yang as she was the one without her own episode.
