But they had the ToQ logo on it.

Not just that, but why would any store just accept him placing a random card on a scanner machine like that? He did not have to swipe or sign for anything to begin with. How do they know that is a valid payment card? Wouldn't they have to look at the card numbers and ID? Is it because it is all imaginary money?

Places are slowly beginning to implement touch-to-pay systems like that, so it isn't a stretch to think they can pay that way. As for where the money's linked to, I guess they have some sort of logical cover up for that.

Tap to Pay devices using RFID are getting pretty common. You tap, take your stuff, and go. Nothing unrealistic about that.

Yes indeed. There's even one in the charity shop I volunteer in... it has yet to work properly, but that's another story entirely.

Yup. Even the local transit system here has a system like that.

Here in Australia, practically every store has Tap To Pay, only small businesses don't. They're slowly phasing out PIN and signatures over here.
