I will say, this trailer makes me not want to not see the movie, if that makes any sense. The first trailer repelled me, this just makes me laugh. Maybe when it hits Netflix, or my small local theatre gets it.
But wheras the first trailer looked too dour and stone-faced, this looks like it's trying too hard to be quipy and hip wit da youts. Where's the happy middle ground? |

I'm reminded of the Suicide Squad trailers in that regard.

The more I'm watching the trailer the more I'm warming up to it. Not saying I'm suddenly in love with it or think that the movie will be great but it actually looks like they got the Toku elements really down. Even if the rest could be really wonky. The Zord scenes especially feel pretty fun and over the top to me in the way tokusatsu should feel fun and over the top.
Now just give me a really cool morphing sequence outside of the command center and a imaginative combination sequence for the Megazord that is more than just a bunch of metal clashing into each other until you get a humanoid robot. Still scared though that the movie will focus too much of it's run time on the Ranger origin and just shove all the cool things you would wanna see from a movie like this into the last half hour. But if there's one thing the movie has going for it is that the cast really looks like they're super into it. |

Watching the trailer for the nth time its growing on me however. It may not be Civil War but could turn out to be a decent matinee from the looks of it. Something to watch during the weekend mornings. |
I'm still bummed that the megazord barely looks like it's comprised of 5 different zords. I'd definitely be more forgiving if the visuals had a more semblance of their classic iterations.
I don't want a guy wearing a big blocky suit.. but I also don't want a big humanoid that looks like it's made out of scrap metal with screens showing outer space. I would've preferred a compromise. Oh well, I'll still see it. |
After watching it again, I noticed that Zordon says that the Power Rangers were a legion of warriors. I wonder what that means? Will we learn about the history of past Rangers or something? Or is that just a way for them to keep it open to new teams in the future?

I liked it. The Zords do look better in the movie than the toys. If BoA is smart, they would make a premium colored version as a con exclusive of something.

Yeah....yeah that sure sounds like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers to me >_> (I'm not saying this to argue, just for jokes) |
