Jesus Kyuranger...I'm already losing my patience and it's only 9 episodes in.

The final form thing would be way cooler if it was actually all 9 Kyurangers fused into one being instead of just Lucky absorbing all their powers.

We could have had Stinger as the protag or something instead of Lucky
Literally any other ranger would have made a better Red than Lucky with the exception of Hammy

I'll be honest, I'm not too bothered by ShishiRed Orion requiring all of the other 8 Kyurangers powers to be used. And it's not like we haven't seen this sort of power-up before, like with the Triassic Ranger from Dino Thunder or Kiwami Arms from Kamen Rider Gaim. Granted, it's a little annoying that it's just Lucky getting it, but eh, he's not the worse Red Ranger I've ever seen.

Are you really surprised though? Numbers keep getting bigger and bigger but at the end of the day, Red's the only one that really matters. I wouldn't mind Red being the only one to get a power up if it wasn't for the fact that its been done so many times in a row now. Its kind of ironic that Kamen Rider, and Ultraman somewhat, handles teams much better then sentai does these days.

If the name doesn't involve their color and the word "Ranger," they wouldn't use it.

The Triassic Ranger only needed 2 other rangers' powers, not the full team, and Kiwami could mimic other Lockseed weapons. He didn't steal/drain every other lockseed's powers to use it.

I'm a little surprised, actually. I was hoping, with a team of 9, we could have a big dynamic going.
But unlike other Sentai, that can give 3 rangers a lot of personality out of a team of 6, this one is content giving 1 ranger everything and just sitting on the other 9.
Honestly, by the end of Kyuranger, the only other ranger I can see changing from how they are right now is Naga learning to have emotions.

The issue isn't just 'Red ranger gets all the toys' but it's also that out of our now 11 Rangers in the show only one is getting a good amount of screen time every episode and all the other characters are more interesting than Lucky. Stinger? Champ? Screw those, we need more YOSHA LUCKYYYYYY! Spada and Hammy having next to no personality (Though Spada's developing a bit)? Doesn't matter, YOSHA LUCKYYYY

I may bitch a lot, but here's the thing, Sentai is supposed to be a team series, an ensemble series. Having Red as the main focus, as well as him being the only one who gets all the power ups, destroys the motif altogether.

One of the reasons why people love Gokaiger so much is that the main characters are nicely written and each have time to shine in the spotlight. And frankly, a lot of episodes where Red doesn't even hog the screentime. Let's take a look at Kyuranger. Even if the episode focuses on other Kyurangers, Lucky is still somehow involved in the main plot of the episode.

I know Japan loves their shonen protagonists (hence maybe why Toei wants to focus on Red all the time, because he's their shonen hero) but frankly, those shonen protagonist are often overshadowed by other characters from their own franchise. Like Naruto, a lot of people prefer Sasuke, etc.

And it really sucks that even Kamen Rider tends to give spotlight to their supporting characters as well.
