I liked ZO. It has some pacing problems from trying to cram too much story into 45 minutes, but visually it's just full of Amemiya-y goodness. Doras is an amazing design, the set for the Neo Organism fight is really cool, and where else are you going to see a Kamen Rider fight a giant claymation spider (with the Rider also becoming claymation at points)?
I have no idea what's up with this fandub thing, though. I watched it subbed. |

So I started watching Decade again since I want to watch All Riders vs Dai Shocker and forgot most of what happened, and man, I forgot how bad it is, especially Blade World. It is painful to watch right now, as the whole salary aspect is attrocious.
|
I just finished watching W...I love it. Kamen Rider W will from now on be one of my favourite shows ever. It made me happy, sad, laugh & even cry a little bit on 48. Really it's hard to go into depth how much I love this show & it's characters.
I started watching it when I was going through a tough time in my life, &, no matter how corny it sounds, I'd like to think W helped me get through that a bit. I can't recommend W enough, even to people who've already seen it. What are you doing? Having dinner? Drop it & go watch Kamen Rider W. Walkin' your dog? No your not, go watch Kamen Rider W. About to have Heart Surgery? It can wait until you go watch Kamen Rider W. VV |

Yeah, I finished W a few weeks ago (watched it over Memorial Day weekend) and thought it was excellent.
|
I just watched The First...why do they not adopt these uniforms when they have Rider 1 and 2?? Just an awesome costume design, and I loved that there are no monsters per say..just all cyborgs with themed uniforms instead.

So I just watched the W/OOO Movie War, & just like the Decade/W Movie War I've only watched one of those series (guess which one).
Skull: Message for W Just like the last Movie War I found the W part to be the strongest. Though I'm a little disappointed that Shoutarou, Phillip & Ryuu didn't get to do a whole lot as characters, but I guess I was always craving for more Skull since Begins Night. Anyway, this was pretty good as a backstory to Skull & did answer why Soukichi seemed like such a dickish father. Though I do have one question, how exactly did Shroud go from the mild mannered sidekick of Skull, to the manipulative, revenge crazy woman in W? At what point did she move out of the Garage? Why did she? But whatever, It doesn't matter. Also I really like Akiko's wedding, no particular reason other than It shows how much those characters have grown. Anyway... OOO: Nobunaga's Desire So, everyone on this Board was telling me that this was the weakest part because some characters don't act like themselves, but because I haven't decided to watch OOO yet that didn't matter, perhaps I'll care more about it once I do, but whatever. This was a little strange, I mean, the story is Eiji befriends one of the most ruthless warlords in Japenese history. This sounds a little far fetched even for Kamen Rider. Also, I'm not sure what the dynamic between Eiji & Ankh is, but isn't Ankh a kinda important in the show? Yet he's barely in the movie. Anyway, I didn't exactly hate it, but it didn't exactly inspire me to go watch OOO (not to say that I won't, I plan to sometime in the future). And now onto... Movie War Core Question time! 1. How did the Pteradactyl guy get that Gaia memory? 2. What exactly was he planning to do with that Gaia memory? 3. How did Eiji get over there so fast? 4. What was up with those Core Medals? 5. Just who the hell is Kamen Rider Core? 6. No seriously, who the hell is he? 7. How does his lower half turn into a Motorcycle? 8. Why is he Evil? 9. Why does he look like a flaming Showa Rider? 10. Does this make more or less sense than the giant robot Elephant from the last Movie War? 11. "Onore Decade!" That is all, & now over the next two days I'm going to watch the two W returns movies. |

I just watched W Returns: Accel &, holy crap! I thought I liked Ryuu before but he was just a friggin' badass in this film. For a minute I thought I was watching Die Hard or something.
Anyway, as you can tell, I loved this film, I think this is my favourite of the W films so far, but we'll see if W Returns: Eternal changes that. The only real "downside" I could think of is that again Shoutarou & Phillip don't get to do much, but then again, this is Accel's movie & at least they were in the movie anyway. And also like Skull: Message for W I just liked seeing how these characters have evolved, one of my favourite scenes being the opening at Akiko's house (or apartment, I'm not sure). I don't know how everyone else feels about Accel's design, but by now, it's definitely grown on me. Okay, so tomorrow I'm watching W Returns: Eternal & that'l cap off my viewing of W (or at least until I watch Mega Max or something). |
I'm taking my first steps as a big boy;
I'm talking Kamen Rider… the original. |
So, I got back on a Rider kick because of... I actually can't remember what, but yeah, I started out going back to the original series (which is still fun), then back to Black (which I still love), then watched Megamax (which I quite enjoyed despite never having seen OOO, and am now hooked on W. After finishing "Heaven's Tornado," the stuff right after finally grabbed me in a way I hadn't been before.
Then, last night, I watched Movie War 2010. For "Begins Night," but I still watched all of it. And God damn, I had no idea what was going on for the first, like, 20 minutes. I got it more as it went along, but I still don't have any reason to like Tsukasa. I was honestly only going to watch Decade for the old-school rider cameos and this kind of cemented that. Also, why the hell was J 300 feet tall? |

Speaking of Kuuga, I'm confused on something, did Kuuga start in 99 or 00? Years just aren't adding up to me, because if Kuuga was in 99, how is Ryuki in 2002? However, if Kuuga was 2000, how was 2009 the anniversary year?
BTW, I watched the 555 Paradise Lost movie last night for the first time in 8 years and I forgot how terrible it was. The battle in the arena is the only thing that makes that movie even remotely watchable. |

Kuuga ran from Jan. 30, 2000 - Jan. 21, 2001.
Agito ran from Jan. 28, 2001 - Jan. 27, 2002. Ryuki ran from Feb. 3, 2002 - Jan. 19, 2003. Decade wasn't the 10 anniversary in the sense that KR was running for 10 years, but that it was the 10th KR series of the Heisei era (Not including Shin, ZO, and J). |
So in-between watching all the W movies I also managed to finish watching Kabuto. How was it? Well, I certainly enjoyed the series as a whole, but there were some things that bugged me from time-to-time.
But let's start off with the characters. Is it me? Or does this show have one of the strangest Rider casts ever? I mean, first off you have Tsurugi who is just completely disconnected from the real world. Then Yaguruma & Kageyama as Kick & Punch Hopper, who were just ridiculously & hilariously emo (but strangely still kinda badass). And finally, Tendou. I still don't know whether I like this guy or not, he never really listened to anyone else & rarely explained the reasons behind some of his actions. Also I wasn't a fan of how he would tend to just know things nobody else did, like what a worms true target was, whether someone was a worm or not, that sort of thing. But he still does have some charm, like his passion for cooking, his relationship with Juka, Hiyori & Kagami. Speaking of which, I somewhat feel like the show should have been called "Kamen Rider Gatack", knowhatimsayin? I feel I would've liked the show even more if Kagami was the main character instead. Oh, also, I wish Daiske had shown up more, but that might have something to do with his actors role in "The Next". One thing that was great about this series was the Worm & Native. And the overall theme of 'Trust' throughout the show. If you told me that this show was written as a sequel to "The Thing", I would've totally believed you.* And now for some questions I have. Why exactly did ZECT/The Native design the Zecters like they did? Robotic Insects that choose who they want to wield them? I just don't get it. Also, why did Kagami & co. never decide to just quit ZECT? I mean, between being manipulated, deceived & almost killed by ZECT on a number of occasions, you figure they would've just gotten fed up with their Bullshit. And how come ZECT never actively pursued Tendou, like, hold his sister hostage or something? I mean by halfway the show they pretty much knew he was Kabuto. Oh, & what happened to Yaguruma at the end? I assume he killed Kageyama but after that he's seen holding his body & doesn't show up again. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend Kabuto & now I'm going to watch W Returns: Eternal & Kabuto: God Speed Love, & then, I think I'll take a break from Kamen Rider for a little bit. |

OK, last post on this thread for a little while.
W Returns: Eternal This film felt... unnecessary. I mean, I thought making a backstory film for Skull was well deserved considering his role & the part he played in the overall show. But Eternal? Anyway, overall this film was just...okay. I feel like I liked the NEVER members better when they were villains, because now I just feel bad for them all being killed in A to Z. Also, some things don't add up to me in this film. I suppose the main thing is Katsumi's whole reason for wanting to destroy Fuuto. It just doesn't make any sense. If anything I would think he'd go after Foundation X considering they funded the whole 'Psychic Island' thing, but whatever. Though I do like how this movie revealed that Kazu's psychic powers are unrelated to Utopia. Oh, & I wasn't a fan of Katsumi's ability to "sense" things. But overall I don't think I would recommend it, as it doesn't really add much at all, & kinda makes me enjoy A to Z less. But moving on... EDIT: I just remembered that I found it pretty funny how everyone pronounced Dr Prospect's name as "Dr Prospector". That is all. Kamen Rider Kabuto: God Speed Love Directors Cut I was actually expecting this movie to take place in continuity considering all the W films were canon. But then again this kinda is canon, but anyway. Man, this version of the Kabuto Universe sure does suck doesn't it? And everyone gets screwed over. Daisuke gets screwed over, Yaguruma gets screwed over, Oda gets screwed over, Kagami gets screwed over, Hiyori, etc. Overall the film was pretty depressing, & it has one of those endings where the AU gets overwritten & everything in it just disappears, which I hate. Though overall it was a fun & an interesting "what-if", & it actually does play into the show. BTW am I the only one who thought the Tendou in the AU was the actual Tendou who somehow got there through his travels to the edge of spacetime & back. He just seemed to know too much, more than usual Tendou would. Also i'm just pondering how exactly the Native play into this Universe but whatever. I'd recommend this. And with that, I'm done with Kamen Rider for, at the very least, a week. My PC needs time to chill out from all the torrenting, & I need to stop before I start saying things like "Change Beetle" out loud. |
Most Kamen Rider movies are not in canon. I think W and Den-O are the only exceptions.
|
God Speed Love could be considered canon, actually.
Doesn't Kabuto push the smaller meteor into the larger one, thus kicking off the series? |

still need to watch God Speed Love...finally watched Paradise lost...holy crap...would have loved if this was the ending of the show! Hopefully will get a Psyga Figuarts. I like his gear better than Delta's :D (though still want a Delta mind you...)...For me it was all about the night fight against the Riot Troopers...though while the armor is cool, it still seems kind of pointless. Doesn't really help them much it seems...

Oh, but Agito's Project G4 is also canon. |
So, I finally have been able to watch V3. Really loving it so far. Some of the dialogue is a little clunky and obviously the effects are dated as hell, but other than that, damn solid show.
|
Finished OOO's. As my first completed Rider series i must say i was impressed. Everybody was likeable and im kinda glad that Kougami didn't end up evil like i thought he would be early in the series. I loved Eiji and his dedication to bringing back Ankh. Never once did either acknowledge a friendship , but it was part of the charm of their relationship.
P.S. - in a scene where Dr.Maki is cleaning off seaweed from the doll's head and he said Bob, BOB MARLEY. I have to ask if that was really what he said or was that the translator having fun? Either way i don't think i have laughed that hard in awhile. |
I just finished W. Amazing series. I still need to watch the spinoff movies though. I'll be watching Decade next.
|
Speaking of OOOs, do any of the movies take place during the series? I might as well make sure I have everything for OOOs for when I finally start watching the series.

my problem with OOOs movies...they had mentioned a fourth Greed, Gills...but that got dropped...is that when they switched writers?

Huh, that kinda makes sense, except I think when I watched the movie, Maki wasn't a Greed yet. Or maybe he was, and I just forgot.

Finally watched ZO and pretty much loved it. I would have loved it more if it had gotten a full 90-minute runtime, just to pace it out a bit better and flesh out the world and characters. Still, I really did love it. I want toys of all the designs now. Including that demented grasshopper puppet that kinda looked like it was humping Masaru's shoulder at one point.
