And ultrawomen, and ultrakids! :lol It's called the Land of Light, the native planet of Ultras. |

Am I better off watching Ultra Galaxy Legends before Revenge of Belial? Or if I'm looking to be won over by the Ultra franchise for the first time, would you say skip to RoB? And say I really love this idea of a Land of Light and countless of Ultra-people. What series would be good to try out? |

Ultra Galaxy Legends doesn't focuses much on Zero, so you are free to skip it, but out of the three movies it's the one that focuses the most on the land of light and Belial is frigging awesome there. I haven't watched much Ultraman but as far as I know no show is set on the land of light, Mebius has appearances of the Ultra Brothers ( the classic ultramen) but that takes a while. Tiga, Dyna and Nexus take place in another continuity so they don't involve the land of light. If you wan an army of ultras fighting an intergalactic threat in the land of light, Ultra Galaxy Legends is the only option I know of. |
Ultraman Story depicts the Land of Light to a much lesser extent.
There weren't any English subtitles for it last I checked and it honestly isn't worth checking out unless you are already a fan and curious to see Taro in his childhood. |
I got into Ultraman by watching the original show (You can buy it for 9 American dollars!) and Ultraman Mebius. So watch them!
But Revenge of Belial is totally rad. So watch that as well. |
I'm about to watch episodes 7-10 of Max. Hope to get some Battle Banner ideas from it for my Ultraman forum.
|
Well, I read more into Ultraman, just so I don't go blindly into the series and well I enjoyed what I read, now I might watch Mebuis since he came up often and go from there, though I do have Kamen Rider Wizard to get through.
|
It was my friend Kaitlyn's fandom of Mebius that reignited my Fandom Of Ultra.
You guys should check out the series that feature Ultraman Great & Ultraman Powered. |
I checked out Powered a while back. To be quite honest, it just wasn't that good.
I've yet to check out Great, but I hear that's the better one out of the two. |
So I just watched Ultra Galaxy Legends and... uh... what in the world was that movie???
Other than utterly sublime. Sure, it didn't have a plot. Sure, 99.8% of the runtime featured identical Ultra-people hitting each other. Sure, Mebius is like the lamest looking guy in history. But there were Ultra-babies. And Ultra-Mother has fucking metal pig tails. And Ultra-King is adorable! This movie was so absurd. I pretty much loved it. |

Hey! Mebius is a cool guy, not as cool as his partner Hikari but he is cool. :lol It was crazy awesome wasn't it? :lol Just an entire race of rubber suit people fighting hordes and hordes of undead monsters. Specially crazy if you don't knwo the characters. Revenge of Belial follows the space adventure format, but makes it more character driven, if you liked this one you'll love that one! If you want even more Zero goodness there are two special episodes called " Ultraman Zero vs. Darklops Zero" that take palce between the two movies, but they aren't essential, and tbh I didn't like it very much. |

About the only problem I had with it is how storyless the whole thing was, so if Revenge of Belial fixes that problem, I'm so ready for it! |

But yeah, it does sacrifice story the name of looking cool (this IS Koichi Sakamoto after all.) Still, I recommend rewatching it once you become a bit more familiar with Ultraman. A lot of the Ultras that appear in the battles scenes are actually not just random extras, but named characters that appeared in other entries into the franchise. |
I'm only a few episodes in for Powered.
|
So since I'm gonna start on Mebuis pretty soon here and just a quick question. Does Ultraman(Series) get like a secondary Ultra or not, now I know that past Ultra's return in Mebuis from what I read so, just if there is secondary Ultras.

Yeah. Mebius' Ultra Partner is blue in color like Gaia's. Though both aren't kind like Cosmos. Max had Xenon. Cosmos had Justice. |
True tale from HeroesCon this weekend in Charlotte.
While in line to see comics creator Jim Starlin, I notice a trio of girls, ages I'd say between 14 and 16, walking together, all dressed like the Matt Smith Doctor Who. I say to my companion, "Look at all these folks dressed like the Eleventh Doctor. Boys, girls, men, women. When will they learn that ALL incarnations of Doctor Who are ALL equally inferior to Ultraman?" Cue most of the line around us breaking out into laughter. Ha! |
I'm a fan of Doctor Who, too.

You don't see a whole lot of Ultra cosplayers. I was lucky to find one two months ago.
|
Yeah, they are something of a rarity.
Still, once I get a little more cash, I would like to do a cosplay. |
I've been looking for certain cosplay related things on Amazon. The Esplender's expensive!
|
Ha, I was looking at that as well. The most reasonably priced one is still way out of my budget.
No Gamu cosplay for me then. :cry |
Couldn't find the Cosmos Pluck.
|
There's one on Ebay.
Personally, I'm not all that fond of Cosmos. |
I prefer Amazon.
I've also been working on an original Ultraman. |
I watched the first couple episodes of Leo now that it's up on Crunchyroll. I'm really digging it. I like seeing Leo as a more rash and inexperienced Ultra, especially with a powerless Ultraseven on hand to serve as his mentor. I want to finally finish Max first, but I think I'll keep watching Leo at this point; it's capturing my interest far more than Mebius did after two episodes.
|
I found out that two Ultras later portrayed Sentai Rangers. Yulian became Dyna Pink, which aired when I was born! And Powered became Ninja Black!

Yeah, um, I don't mean to double post but Ultraman 80 on Crunchyroll!
http://www.crunchyroll.com/ultraman-80 I think someone up there must be listening lol. |
I found two issues of a comic book (not manga) simply titled "Ultraman" by a company called "Ultracomics." The issues are both poly bagged with trading cards and are "virgin cover" editions, which from what I can tell means the title and issue number and such are written only on the bag,not the comic itself. Anyone have any info on this?

I just started Ultraman Max, the first Ultraman I've watched since I was 5 or so, and I quite like it. :) Hope the rest of the series will be fun.

as awesome as 80 is this is gonna probably be our last showa ultra on CR. from Ultraman through to Taro is when the rights issues start to crop up.
Hope we get Cosmos next |

Tried one episode of Mebius, and I LOVE IT! It's just so much fun, and I like how they've already set up base for all the characters. |

It would be great if they could sort things out, as it's mouth watering just thinking about Return Of, Ace, and Taro after seeing Leo. The Heisei series would be amazing. Given the great video quality we're seeing on Crunchyroll, they've become my preferred venue for Ultraman.
|
Did anybody watch a recent episode of Comic Book Men on AMC??? A guy sold a couple of Ultraman figures to the Stash. One of them was Ultraman Great.
