I just feel like that works so much better. Like, he's still super weird and unique, but he's got the bare minimum to clearly be a Kamen Rider, and not one of the crazier Metal Heroes.

I like how wacky the actual eyes are, but I think it'd work more as something that isn't part of an existing franchise with over 20 different dudes he has to look cool in a group-shot with.

-Overall, I like the look of the suits: very 90's color-wise.
-The gimmick is interesting, which I always love

Wow I like these. I like these A LOT. They remind me of characters I would have seen in some of those early-2000s anime cartoons like Battle B-Daman or Medabots.


Depending on the quality of the show, this might be the first Rider line where I'm tempted to go all in for the SHFs since Gaim.

The more I think of it, the more I realize that I completely shit on Zyuohger for it's poorly designed everything, but I'm in love with it.

Who knows, this series might be what reels me back into main line Kamen Rider...

TBH I feel like this is the opposite of Ghost which in it's early scans looked Dark but turned out to be light hearted Ex-Aid if the rumors are true for it being Dark will be the opposite personally I will be ok with this AS LONG as they don't make it like Faiz where it was just Dark for the sake of being dark like there were some deaths I was like REALLY

Gaim was a dark show but it got a humor!

I like Rider shows with more serious story and tone. That's what made get into Kamen Rider with the great action and drama in the TV shows. Kamen Rider always felt more serious compare to Super Sentai which is why I always enjoy it more. I see why we can't have a Rider show with a more serious story and drama but still have funny comedy. It work for W, OOO and Gaim.

If the toy sales are good, that's all it matters. Gaim sold well with merchandise despite poor ratings. If kids think the main rider looks cool and finds the gimmicks fun, they will buy them.

Almost certainly. It looks that way written out in English, but the "mu" in "emu" is pronounced like the sound a cow makes, and not like the Pokemon.

Emulators honestly sound like a weird thing to name your protagonist after anyway. There's a million other video game related words to choose from.

Honestly, it's been that way since Den-O. Despite it's reputation, Kiva starts out quite lighthearted and only really goes into the melodrama in the second half or so, and Decade is full of humor throughout. I do think it's been a little more pronounced with Ghost, but people make it seem like a bigger thing than it is.

I actually really wish we still were getting shows like Ryuki or Blade, but I don't let it distract from how good the newer shows still are. They're very different, but I feel like they still have the same heart, if that makes any sense.

I got up to episode 9 or 10, stop after that. I find the slap stick to be unfunny and the side characters to be annoying. When Den-O did it, it was funny and it was written better in my opinion.

People feel like Toei has tone down their shows in general. Not just Toku, I see people feel like Toei has made their anime more light hearted. Like how most fans view Dragon Ball Super as more childish and less violent compare to DBZ.

There is no way to tell for sure. The show can be very goofy for we all know. I know Kamen Rider is market to kids, but kids shows can have serious story driven plots. I feel like a Kamen Rider show is always the best when it has a serious story driven plot with some humor thrown in here and there.

I think that fans selectively remember the "badass" stuff from their childhood favorites and conveniently forget all of the juvenilia. DBZ is a good example. There's nothing more kiddie-centric in DB Super than Goku hanging out with King Kai and Mr Popo in DBZ. Fans don't necessarily remember that stuff as childish, though, probably because they were children when they first saw it.

Basically, Golden Age Syndrome is a very, very real thing in fandom.

I'd take Faiz-like over Gaim-like any day. Though if this was the same level of silly/serious that Ghost and Drive have done that would be good for me.

Because I think Faiz is pretty much the worst, I've watched the first 3 episodes and already wanted to jump out of a nearby window to end the pain. I haven’t found the strength to continue ever since. So I would take anything over another Faiz-like show, and if they would be able to do something fresh like Gaim again? Sign me up.

And as far as the division between serious and comedy time goes, Drive and Ghost are really terrible at it, I hope Ex-Aid does it a lot better.

I must be from the same universe then, because I actually really like Faiz. I can very much see how a lot of people don't like it, and I'd normally consider myself opposed to things that try too hard to be "dark" for the hell of it, but I find it a very endearing show with well-developed characters, unique themes for Kamen Rider, and well done fight scenes the whole way through.

At any rate, I actually really like the idea of Ex-Aid being serious in some manner. Kamen Rider has always had an ability to take stupid ideas completely seriously and make it work, and as much as I love Drive and Ghost, I wouldn't mind something different again.

It'd be kind of hilarious is Ex-Aid was in any way similar to Faiz...imo, of course. Honestly I don't really care what tone ot has as long as it's well written. If I had to choose, I'm personally hoping for it to be batshit insane myself. The G Gundam of Kamen Rider.

Sure, they were always kid shows but, I don't think there has ever been a Kamen Rider show without some kind of goofy comedy for instance but there IS a notable shift in tone over the years. Whether it's a valid reason for liking or disliking a show or not is whatever, but I don't think claiming Toei's lightened it over the years is inaccurate.

If it's like Faiz, then it'll be year 3 of me skipping Kamen Rider. I just can't deal with the melodramatic bullshit that is forcing aggression because 2 characters refuse to have an actual conversation for 30 episodes.

So there are rumors of Gen Urobuchi returning for Ex-Aid on the web. I'm going to take it with a huge grain of salt. Urobuchi seems pretty busy to do another show.

I wouldn't be surprised that Gen Urobuchi is the head-writer of Ex-Aid

I was commenting to a friend that I really like the design for Kamen Rider Brave, and would've preferred that as this year's main Rider. He killed it by pointing out how much Brave looks like Accel Trial.

Grain of salt? I'd use a jumbo shaker. Wish-fulfillment rumors always strike me as incredibly suspicious.

THe rumor has came from Heroshock website, saying that Gen Urobuchi (Kamen Rider Gaim) can be the writter of this new show, and also that Koichi Sakamoto (Kamen Rider Fourze, Kyoryuger, Ultraman Ginga) can be the director.

So far, these rumors are coming from Facebook. I'm 99% sure that they are likely fake.
