All characters will be in both versions. Nintendo said a while back that there will be no version exclusive characters. Only exclusive stages.

I would also recommend not maining the Wii Fighter, since that character is also only available against friends.

I'm not maining him, alothugh i will use him a lot when fighting with friends.

I've never had a main in Smash Bros! I suppose out of everyone I use Captain Falcon, Ike, Pikachu, Zelda, Pokemon Trainer and Yoshi the most but that's just because they're so much fun and I vary so often none are really my designated only ones.

If I had to main one I'd choose Villager! He looks so ridiculously fun it's insane. That Final Smash is so hilarious!

My main was Kirby through all the games :lol. I know I'll be maining him and now Greninja :)

I'm pretty sure my primary mains of Jigglypuff and Game & Watch will return, or else I'mma be extra sad, but I'm thinking Little Mac or Rosalina will join my roster because Mac looks so insanely fun and Rosalina because I actually like her and Mario Galaxy :p

I plan on using.
Sonic because he was my main in Brawl, Villager, Megaman, Pacman and Mii, those got me excited.
I might use Pikachu from time to time because he was my main in the original.

Mega Man seems pretty simple. Yeah, he has a lot of attacks, but you don't have to jump through hoops to pull them off, really. They're just everyone else's normal attacks, just a shout out to his other weapons from other games~

I tend to stick with Link or "insert Fire Emblem character of choice" :lol

Anyone else a bit disappointed with the roster? Feels like a lot of old favorites are missing.

They're still revealing Veterans though, so its not quite time to fret.

I think Ivysaur, Squirtle and Snake are truly gone and apparently Lucas is on the chopping block too but I think its safe to say that characters like Captain Falcon and Ness are definitely coming back. Remember that in Brawl Ganondorf, Wolf, Toon Link, Ness and Jigglypuff weren't even revealed until people had the game in-hand.

My mains have always been Kirby and (since Brawl) Toon Link, but Villager and Pac-Man are the new guys Im really looking forward to. Wii Fit Trainer looks hilarious too :lol

They needed to make room for very important characters like Rosalina and Palutena don't you know?

I think the roster is pretty nice, honestly. We didn't get another Fox clone like the past 2 games introduced, and if their constant statements of balance are anything true, then it means that maybe Meta Knight won't be the win button anymore. While it sucks that it's likely that characters like Snake and Lucas are gone, their characters we got in their stead were pretty nice.
And I'm still on the belief that the original 12 won't be cut.

Well I paid up my Wii U last night and brought it home. Guess it's time to dig up a copy of Brawl and get some work in before the new game.

Super jealous of one of my friends who got to go to a Best Buy with Smash at it this weekend... The one she went to is actually the closest to me, but still a gooood distance. I wish they had made it available at more.

These two songs need to play in Smash bros 4's rainbow road stage man, these two songs are epic.

I'd argue that those two are more important than having more clone characters like Lucas, Wolf, Falco, etc. But I don't know why everyone is getting into a bind over this. There's still several months before the game is released, that's plenty of time for more announcements AND they've already told us secret characters (aside from the guests and Luigi) won't be announced ahead of time, which like others have said, is exactly what happened with Brawl.

It doesn't seem like any of the characters who've appeared in multiple games will be dropped and fan favourites like MetaKnight won't be going anywhere either.

I'm fine with Rosalina, I think she's a really unique and fun addition especially considering they're seemingly basing her on pre-Miyamoto character assassination, but I do truly think Palutena is a waste of a Newcomer.

Kid Icarus is lucky to have one representative, let alone two! Especially when far more deserving franchises (namely Metroid) are stuck at one (or two if you want to be generous, but they're still the same character). Sakurai is really showing a real bias towards his own games, which I wish wasn't there. Thus far, Luigi, Charizard and Zero Suit Samus is the only non-Sakurai character to get a new Final Smash (and the latter two are due to necessity), Toon Link and Link are STILL both stuck with that stupid Triforce Slash, while Pit and Kirby both have brand new Smashes (plus Pit's looks utterly OP, being something of a combination of both Mario's and Ness'). Kid Icarus already has two levels announced and five of the new items are from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Note that Metroid still only has one item in the game.

In regards to the Final Smashes, if they were going to update them then, of the confirmed Veterans, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Link, Toon Link, DK, Zero Suit Samus, Charizard, Lucario and (personally) Bowser deserved them. Kirby and Pit both had really awesome Final Smashes that still matched how they currently are portrayed. It just seems totally unneccessary for them to get new ones while Link and Toon Link still have the same ill-fitting Final Smash, Mario still has the same useless Fireball instead of all the awesome potential he has and DK still has that joke of a Final Smash.

Its just kind of annoying. Pit was awesome in Smash Bros. Brawl because he was so forgettable and it was cool that he was back, but Sakurai just had to take it and way over expose him. Doesn't help that Kid Icarus: Uprising was "meh" at best and had some of the worst controls I have ever played on a handheld.

So yeah, if Ridley (or Bayonetta) finally comes in I might be happier with Palutena, but as it stands I really think that we deserve Newcomers from either series that don't have representatives or series that deserve more then one representative.

Plus, if Pit's Dark Pit alt is going to have a new voice actor which seems to be the implication since the demo lacked Pit's Dark Pit alt then Peach should have one for Daisy, I personally think.

... But yeah, no more clones. I'm really disappointed how Toon Link has been handled again. I was expecting a different Final Smash at the very least. Kind of sucks that they didn't take advantage of all the cool things Link has done in his "Toon" games to give us a really unique character separate from the normal Link.

I remember the secret characters getting announced before Brawl was released on the smash dojo.

DK still has the Bongo Final Smash? Damn...I wouldn't have such a problem with it if having to play in rhythm with it wasn't so damn impossible.

Anyway, I still want Ridley.

Also, Mega Man's throw should be the Thunder Claw, and once it pulls them in, it changes into the Power Arm (Since I recall Thunder Claw being able to grab and hook onto stuff).

They've added a bar that helps you with the timing, but after DKC:R there's really no excuse not to give him something better, just as there's no excuse for Link and Toon Link still having the same (boring) Final Smash or Pit and Kirby, both who both had really good ones, getting completely new ones.

So far I think we've seen every Veteran's except for Peach and Lucario's. Lucario's assumedly Mega Lucario but there's also been some implication that Mega Lucario is just how he looks when his Aura's at full power.

Apparently Smash Run has more Kid Icarus enemies then Mario and Zelda combined. Sigh...

I remember Sakurai saying that he didn't want to overuse hi's franchises in Smash, good to know that's thrown out the window.
