I decided to have some fun with Ghidorah tonight as I really haven't touched him too much since I first got him (and that pic with Godzilla comic):
http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps202fa987.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7935b5be.jpg Anyway, Destoroyah is here. Here is the link to the slide show: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...rts/Destoroyah And here is a picture of my MA collection thus far: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4b52e5b5.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps711b1914.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psd84e3201.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0fecb46f.jpg |

So happy that AmiAmi has preorders for Alien and Predator available again. Don't think I can find better figures for these two than figuarts.
|
Because of how things had to work out, we had our Xmas party with our friends today instead of tomorrow as initially planned. As such, here are some pics of my newest MA along with their respective slideshows:
Godzilla 64: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...odzilla%201964 http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps36830391.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psee1375e7.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psb84bfb27.jpg This guy is pretty cool. I love how high his legs can split, but I do not like how big the gap is in his spines when you lean his body forward. I like the way they did it so much better on the Burning Godzilla and wished they had stuck to doing it similar to that way. Overall, a very nice sculpt for an incredible monster, in fact, excluding the original, this is easily my favorite suit of the Showa era. Kiryu: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...sterArts/Kiryu http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7c9a93d2.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psd015ed85.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0e4b8304.jpg Kiryu is pretty awesome from a sculpt, but as an articulated figure, I am a bit disappointed. His legs barely have any posseability to them at all and I have no idea how to get the spine piece that is around his stomach to lock into place as it keeps jiggling around. The fact that he comes with his back pack is awesome though. King Kong Slideshow: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...ts/King%20Kong http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6c2f4fc6.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pse3d2e61a.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psd4420e6e.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psf3ac81e0.jpg Oh boy, the time is finally here. First off, I just love his accessories: Moguera Slideshow: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...erArts/Moguera http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps06fa7226.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7edd1b38.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps916fb78f.jpg And now, the figure that got me into the MonsterArts line is finally mine. Biollante Slideshow: http://s1366.photobucket.com/user/Dr...Arts/Biollante http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psdb93bf01.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps646f59d6.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psee061424.jpg |
Took my last photoshoot for 2013 with my new figures:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps67df6d99.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps4b085bbb.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psb90473ee.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psae0bd89c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps39994280.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psae3911eb.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps2f8f3217.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps7d23c69b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psd40a4135.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psa492c4b6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps7614ce91.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psadb2a4b6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...pse3630e2f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps204e3fcd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps079ad75e.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps225a02df.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps73dd5d76.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps1c4cb554.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps1980b16c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...psddb27d3d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps6eeb4de2.jpg Biollante is a very photogenic figure that has a number of posing options with all of the articulated vines. The G2000 is very nice too! The head reminds me of the '62 Godzilla, especially with the eye placement. It's going to be hard picking my top Monsterart figure for 2013! In case anybody wanted to know if some of the beam effect are compatible with G2000: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ps0cf4d64d.jpg |
Rodan's blast looks like Godzilla is puking up blood, eww.
|
I don't like that his head cannot look up.
|
Did you write a review anywhere for Godzilla 2000? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
|

If I do get time, I'll post one up. Edit: There's a really good review of the figure located here: http://importingmonsters.blogspot.co...illa-2000.html |
that is a great review - he mentioned something I saw in a Japanese review as well - how loose does the tail get after posing? does it become unable to be further posed?

The only issue I've come across mine is the 4th joint from the tip of the tail tends to pop off the ball joint from time to time. I may do the hairdryer trick to remedy this. And just for the fun of it... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...pscfe6c414.jpg G'64 is about to have his quiet time interrupted. |

Doing a complete dusting & rearrangement of my Monsterarts collection, since the arrival of Biollante and Godzilla 2000. I took some versus pics for different kaiju clashes, before I place them back on display...

Some interesting developments on the S.H. Monsterarts - the Articulation Series Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/SHMon...32016576869700 Just got back from Bluefin today. Some great things to come. *Regarding the poll, they are in fact following it and will be evaluating it through out the year. -In addition, I'd like to note that duplicate votes will not be counted, per the polls restrictions. If by some way, duplicate votes have made a way through the polls proxy, they will be deleted. At this given moment, all votes are 100% legit. -Just because a character has a high rank, doesn't mean it will be made. The poll is not meant to find winner, just what's relevant now. *Tamashii Nations is aware of the requests for Bagan, and now, Super Godzilla. They are officially inquiring about the characters. *Bluefin is also following the S.H.MonsterArts figure of 2013 poll found here: Past Releases | S.H.MonsterArts Articulation Series This poll will assist them in knowing which figures were a hit or miss. Poll found here: http://www.michalshipman.com/monster...014/index.html I already placed my votes, and I'm hoping Titanosaurus gets the green light this year! |
I voted on the poll for Showa Anguirus, Showa Mothra, Showa King Ceasar, Mecha Ghidorah, GMK Baragon, Godzilla 54, 84, 89, GMK/01, MechaG 74.
I'll pass on video game only characters. |
Come on Megalon! I need him and a Showa Gigan to team up!
|
And with a thunderous roar, Godzilla 2000 is here and... well... I'm a little disappointed. I haven't fiddled around with him too much, but the reviewers hyped him up way too much as he does not deliver for me. He does not seem to be as posseable as Burning Godzilla, which to me, is a shame, as Burning G remains my favorite Godzilla MonsterArt. My biggest gripe is with the tail and head. Everyone kept talking about how great the tail is when it comes to posseability, saying you can wrap it around to the front of his body. Well, mine is not like that. If I try to do that, I get it popping out of its joints at various sections. Secondly, and this is the most annoying part is that he always looks like he is looking down no matter how high you raise his head. I like the tongue articulation. I like how they found away to get rid of the big gaps like Burning G had, but they also limited his body movement as I can barely turn the torso. Outside of those, the figure is great and I'm glad to have him in my collection, but I am happy I paid no more than $57 for him as he is definitely not worth $75.
As always, here is the slideshow: Godzilla 2000 Slideshow by DrKainn | Photobucket And some pics: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8d392c34.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7edc98a.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps44db73b4.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2352bcc.jpg |
The Torso does have a good range of movement. Sounds like your not moving around the dorsal spines on the back and it's getting caught.
The tail on my figure is able to articulate pretty far, the tip can touch it's back. Of course, mine doesn't fall apart like yours apparently is. Sucks. |

Nevertheless, I am warming up to him and took some more photos. Some are these: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps519cc804.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps01f80f1b.jpg |
Sad to hear a bad opinion as I've been looking forward to a 2000 Godzilla for a while. If you don't mind, could you take a picture showing how far the tail can bend to the left or right?

UPDATE: 2014 POLL
www.tinyurl.com/ly6ljfp This link will take you to the comments section of the poll. To further help Tamashii Nations gather appropriate data, I would like to encourage you to leave a little comment of maybe the top 3 monsters you voted for, what age demographic you fall in (i.e. 20-30's, 40-50's, etc), and a realistic/fair idea of the price you would expect to pay for these figures. These are suggestions, but any sort of comment regarding your vote, and why the selected monsters are important to you, should suffice. If you've already voted, you can still leave a comment. |
