Bad comparison. EVERYONE knows the cultural phenomenon Godzilla, Kamen Rider is a very niche franchise and would need brand recognition from traditional fans

I think that'd be cool. Honestly though, I think it'd be cool to use the footage from one of the crossover movies to give a Rider a cameo appearance in PR. Ninja Steel will probably be the last time they could do that though, since after Ninninger the crossovers are just the Rider showing up for one fight scene.

Not really. In fact, I think it'd be better that way because if they took any liberties, it wouldn't upset as many people. Though, I'd rather they stayed true to the original.

If you're just going to do your own thing you're better off making something from scratch.

Something can be obscure and still work well. Comic book characters like Blade and Guardians of the Galaxy are not very well known outside of the comic book fandom and they did fine. With a original American Kamen Rider show, you can show people that it is not Power Rangers and something different.

As long if it's good, people will enjoy it.

Nobody in their right mind is going to pay licensing costs for just a name for something as obscure as Kamen Rider and ignoring that American superheroes like Iron Man,Ghost Rider,Blue Beetle and Spawn have already covered Rider's themes and are far easier to sell to Americans.

Blade and GOTG may have done their own takes on the characters but they were still the characters from the books.

And Blade and GOTG got made in the first place largely to cash in on popular movie trends at the time vampires in the 90s and comic book heroes now.

People would just think it was a Power Ranger rip-off. Literally everyone I foolishly try to turn on to Rider dismisses it pretty quick as "oh - Power Rangerrsss" with the word accented by a verbal eye roll. If I try to explain the differences, it just further cements the relation and - yeah, they ain't watchin' it.

I really dislike when Bugsters revived over and over again (except for Graphite). It looks very boring.

If the person is somewhat versed in Japanese dramas maybe try showing them Kuuga, Kabuto, Den-O, W, and Fourze for starters.

I've had some mild success. Got my brother to watch Gaim (more like he barged in while I was watching and then couldn't look away), a friend of mine in Greece to watch W, and have been trying to get my mom to watch Fourze/Kabuto (she really fights it though). I just wanna spread the love, but all these people keep trying to resist. Hold still and let me convert you dangit!

Naw, you gotta try to curate a bit to that person's interest. Try to make it relatable to what they like typically.

I swear that is what I do. Watched W with my Greek friend because he likes mysteries. Picked out Fourze and Kabuto with my mom because she wanted something fluffy / she got tired of fluffy. It's just really hard to get the first step over with and get them to actually give it a shot.

I uh, miiight be derailing this thread now though... Unless thinking it is hard to convert people to Kamen Rider is an unpopular opinion.

For me, well, you have to keep in mind I'm in my mid-forties and, at that age, even nerds are just more resistant to new things. I have friends who love 70's kaiju and cutesy stuff like Kuri Kuri Takura who've sniffed at Kamen Rider because "Power Rangers".

It's frustrating / embarrassing because I know that, if they gave it a chance, they'd become diehards like me!

Foundation X are overhyped and really should just have stayed in W.

Their influence really cheapens how omniscient and influential other groups - like the Kougami Foundation are, and for that reason I hope they stay the hell away from Gaim and Drive (Thankfully, Ex-Aid's Foundation X Energy Item case seems to suggest that they are).

The whole thing with Drive was that Krim and Banno COULDN'T get funding for the Roidmudes, so Foundation X literally does not fit in there whatsoever

I generally agree. It was a cool idea at the time, but the lack of follow-up mixed with fan expectations really killed my enthusiasm for them.

The current gimmicks are too much generic.

Let's revive this thread for a bit. I'm really sad at how wasted Kamen Rider Poppy was. As far as female Kamen Riders go, I'm tempted to say that she got a worse treatment than Necrom P. At least Necrom P started and ended in the 3 minutes it debuted. Kamen Rider Poppy showed up in episode 26 with a cool fight scene and then didn't do anything really worthwhile for the rest of the series.

At least Poppy's character was good and her not fighting is consistent with her peaceful nature

I think any Toku gets mock out in the US sadly. I remember being a kid and how people laugh at me for liking Godzilla. When I told them "Why is it okay for American films to use miniatures and suits, but not stuff like Godzilla". I even had people told me that they would like the 1998 Godzilla (This was years before the 2014 movie) better than the Japanese movies because it has better special effects.

I don't like it when people have bad standers when it comes to stuff like special effects or animation.

For some reason sailors (as in the ones in the ones in the sailor uniform and hat) appear gay to me and I can't remember why. So when Snipe got his Bang Bang Simulations form he got the sailor hat. So every time I remember about the hat I just instantly imagine him in a Big Gay Al voice say "And a rooty toot toot to you sailor."

I really don't like when newest forms or stronger forms become overused (example: Kiva Emperor Form, Ghost Grateful Damashii, Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer, and Ex-Aid Muteki Gamer). The overused forms become really really boring.

I feel other forms will be rarely used or become forgotten when the stronger form is appeared.

Though with the Kiva suit, the base suit was far too unwisely compared to emperor form which is why emperor form is used earlier compared to other final forms at the time and as a frequently as it was.

Though more on topic Yuuki and Shunpei weren't that bad of comedic side reliefs and Kiva was not that bad.
