That would hurt their other lines...which is not really a good idea...

Has anyone gotten their Pink Ranger yet? I’m super curious to know if the arms look better in person than they do online.

In the pics and videos I’ve seen, the upper arm is sooooo skinny that it ends up looking weird when connecting to the butterfly joint. I thought the whole point of the line was to be show-accurate, but, uh, show-Pink Ranger’s arms don’t look quite so weak and emaciated.

Yeah it's not a good business strategy, though I don't doubt that's what they are doing. Hasbro owns Power Rangers outright. I am sure there is some licensing involved between them, Toei, and Bandai Japan. But Hasbro has a stake in these characters. They make Power Rangers content just like they do Transformers and My Little Pony. But they don't have a stake in any of the characters from Star Wars and Marvel. That's all Disney. It's only natural for a company to prop up the characters they own over the characters that's only licensed out to them. Plus Hasbro is THE toy company of North America. Bandai America has nothing but Godzilla toys and Tomagotchi out on the market right now. Mattel only has Barbie, American Girl, and Jurassic Park/World, Thomas, and Hot Wheels. I'd be here all day if I named every toy and game franchise Hasbro owns/license. So Hasbro can put out all the Ranger figures they want and not care because they practically own the toy market. But over saturating the market will cause consumers to be more selective of their purchase to outright refusing to buy anything due to too many options at once.

You know Mattel is a bigger company than Hasbro, yeah? They've got 19% of the market share to Hasbro's 15 as of last year.

I imagine that will change once the DC license officially switches over to McFarlane.

Not even close. Boys toys and action figures are a ridiculously small percentage of it.

This is a few years old but to give you an understanding of what exactly are the biggest moneymakers for Hasbro and Mattel, it's not what we like.

Both are monopolies in my opinion. Still not very smart of Hasbro to over saturate the market like that. It'll only come back to bite them in the ass.

"Both" and "monopoly" are contradictory terms you realize. By definition a monopoly cannot be "both." It's Mono. One.

And I'd hardly call two small waves of 4 released in different quarters oversaturation, even including 2 Fan Channel 2-packs and 3 single-retailer exclusives. That's a paltry amount compared to the output of something like Marvel Legends or Mattel's WWE and downright cautious on Hasbro's end.

If the leak about Lord Drakkon and Ranger Slayer end up being true, it really makes me curious as to what the PMC exclusive figure will be, if there's any at all. Comic exclusive characters are easy pickings for that kinda stuff.

Found a good chunk of the new releases: Psycho Red and Lost Galaxy Red Two-Pack, Green Ranger and Putty Two-Pack, and Psycho Blue.

Seen at GameStop in Alexandria, LA.

Power MorphiCon. Last year their exclusives were the Legacy Lord Drakkon, Psycho Silver, and Psycho Green.

The Psycho Rangers ended up pretty good for the majority of buyers, but the Lord Drakkon became notorious for its QC issues, and mine was no exception. Very floppy.

Only Lord Drakkon was their exclusive. Psycho Silver was released early at SDCC but was also a shares exclusive with Entertainment Earth. Psycho Green was an SDCC Exclusive only. In my personal experience with the Psychos they got worse with each successive release. They had further poor QC each time, my Silver was particularly bad. Happy to report the Hasbro Psychos seem much better at this point.

Ah, my mistake. Sucks to hear about later releases only being worse. Guess I got lucky with my Silver then.

Got my Lost Galaxy Red/Psycho Red set in today, had a lot of trouble getting LG Red to stand before realizing he has two left feet! Has anyone else had a defect like this before and if so, does Hasbro make you return the whole set for a replacement? Both figures have good paint so I don't really want to trade the whole set, I'd like to just get a replacement leg or something if possible, though I suspect that won't be an option. I contacted Hasbro themselves first but their customer services hours are already over for the week until Monday, so in the meantime I figured I'd check here to see if anyone else has experienced something like this and how Hasbro typically handles it.

So did Hasbro show anything new at NYCC for the Lightning Collection? Or is it all quiet on that front?

They'll probably announce Wave 3 come November. Hoping the leaks are atleast partially true so I can have a Ranger Slayer figure.

We're expecting to see new items at Toy Fair, but Power Rangers only presence at NYCC this year was the Boom! comic panel. Toy Fair should bring many surprises.

To be honest we're almost guaranteed to see new product previewed in between now and then, like those purported waves that were revealed via code named listings a few months back. Remember how the LG Red/Psycho Red set was accidentally revealed like a month prior to when it was supposed to happen? And it wasn't even announced at SDCC the week before that? Similar situation is likely to play out before Toy Fair. I wouldn't worry.

Really excited to see Dark Buster done; hoping they won't skip out on Escape and Enter later either.

I find it interesting how much of an emphasis on villains Lightning Collection has had so far. Waves 1, 3 and 4 have had a villain each; and while Wave 2 didn't, there were certainly plenty of exclusives around that time from Psycho Red and Blue to Goldar to the Putty. It's very encouraging.

Recent packaging photos suggested that Enter's monster form will be "Robo-Blaze", so you have a good shot at getting a representation of Enter.

We're definitely getting one in the £10 basic line at least, even though it'd be the one with no outward leg motion.

Still, even if we don't get LC "Robo-Blaze", I'm more than happy with Dark Buster.

According to Hasbro's schedule for upcoming convention appearances, it seems we're finally set to see official reveals for more LC figures. I'm betting we can look forward to seeing Wave 3 - MMPR Red, DC Gold, BM Blue and Drakkon - in photos at last.

Really liking the look of those. Hope they get around to completing those two teams. Beast Morphers should only need Yellow and Silver at this point, if I'm not mistaken.

Yup, unless they want to do any super forms or beast bots. Though from that Wave 4 leak, we know they are at least doing villains.

I hope the lightning collection someday includes megazords. How awesome would it be to have a Shogun Megazord from that line?
