I've been on more of a Showa kick lately. (I say "lately" like my "Showa kick" hasn't been going on for most of my life.) I have one site which listed Jack as "backordered" rather than "sold out" or "discontinued," so I am hoping something comes of that. I've got a bid going on eBay for Ultraseven, also.

And of course I just saw on the front page that Zoffy is being reissued which is AWESOME!

Nexus is pretty damn cool! His colors are great, as you pointed out (love the bits of clear plastic they used on his chest and back); that and his sculpt give him a very sleek look. Pretty sturdy on his feet and his effects parts are nice. The effect piece shown in the pic is two pieces that clip together and is a little finicky to get just right (you have to angle his arms and wrist into proper position, add the first piece and then clip the second piece on), but as long as you're patient you should be fine.

It was a spur-of-the-moment purchase (It was literally a "Hey, here's a news story saying this is out now...and it's still in stock on AmiAmi. Fuck it, it's mine!"-type purchase), but a very gratifying one! Of the four Ultra-Acts I own I'm not sure which is my favorite (I enjoy each one quite a bit) but Nexus is the one I enjoy fiddling with the most, and not just because from a "new toy" perspective.

Unfortunately, my line on Ultraman Jack didn't come through, so back to the drawing board on that one! Doh!

Also missed out on the Ultraseven I was bidding on, so back to the drawing board on that one as well. At this point probably better to simply stop buying the damn things because they are too expensive.

Wow, that's about as fast as waiting on Amazon to get them in! Glad you're enjoying him though, Nexus has looked fantastic every time I look at him and I'm prepping myself for a purchase later this year. Definitely hoping we get an Anphans somewhere down the line as well, and it's unlikely, but if any of the Dark Giants were done as figures... that would be incredible. Space Beasts too, dare I dream?

Jack was briefly in-stock on AmiAmi early in the am, which was great if anyone missed out. One is (supposedly) sitting in my Private Warehouse at HLJ, which will ship once I have something to merit shipping with him.

I tried to get Jack but missed out on him. He's fairly scarce right now even on the aftermarket. You can find him for $90 on Amazon. Ace, I can get him but he'll be like $75 or so, pricey but at least he's there.

SOOOOO glad I got my Amiami Preorder for Taro! I still think that T-N/Bandai plan on producing Taro in larger numbers than some of the other Ultra Brothers, but none the less, Iam glad I have him preorderd!

I've tried to be picky with the Ultra-Act line (I have enough Transformers, let alone MonsterArts plus occasional Marvel Universe stuff and SIC OOOs) but both of these are tempting. I've been really impressed by the regular Nexus so I'm awfully tempted by the blue one, especially since I like the effects parts.

You can afford to wait on Bluefin for Junis Blue. If you're going to be tempted to get something now, it should be Zoffy. Because if you miss out now and decide you want him later, you may have to pay six times that asking price!

Looks like my Ultra-Act collection could more than double by the end of summer, but considering how consistently pleased I've been with each release I've picked up so far, I can't say that's a bad thing.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd preordered! Zoffy is locked up...though not with AmiAmi not cooperating for about five minutes. Last time Tamashii stuff went up, I could only get my order in through my tablet and this time I could only get it through my laptop.

AND OF COURSE I MISSED ZOFFY. GOD DAMN IT!

I did manage to get Jack off of eBay, though, which with my eBay Bucks coming due was good timing, at least. I have a line on Ace as well but that will have to wait until the next credit card statement I think.

EDIT: The more I contemplate it, the less I want to even worry about the secondary Ultras and just focus on the old school guys who actually carried shows. So I will continue to sweat Ultraseven and Ace, and have my eyes peeled for 80, Powered, and Great if they are ever released, but I can't go nuts over foks like Zoffy and Father. It's not worth the stress! :D

That sucks about missing Zoffy. Were you stalking AmiAmi and the other Asian retailers late last night? Zoffy sold out in AmiAmi in less than 10 minutes, I think?

zoffy sold out in 1 second. I'm not kidding (thank god I was able to secure one from the 1st release). As soon as the tamashii items went live, the site pretty much crashed. Rider1 sold out..shocker sold out...Luckily Rider 1 is still available at hlj and hobbysearch last time I checked.

I preordered a Robot Damashii Gundam and a Pre-Cure figuarts for my fiance.

It was actually kind of funny how slowly and hesitantly I went through the process of adding Zoffy to my cart and checked out, because I wasn't sure I really felt like preordering anything from Japan after FINALLY paying off my last preorder (Mewtwo) a bit earlier. Of course, once I did finish, Zoffy had not only sold out at AmiAmi, but also HLJ, and by all accounts disappeared nearly as quickly as Hobby Search later that morning. Suckering myself into one last preorder probably paid off. :lol

I saw on BBTS this morning that they have a preorder up for Father Of Ultra. Are they really going to get him, or is this a situation like my Figuarts of Kamen Rider Ichigo and Kamen Rider Black RX where the preorder holds for a few months and then is summarily cancelled?

If I don't get my Jack, it'll be at least the second time this happened to BBTS. The price they're charging for Jack seems to take into account the fact that they'll have to import it (as opposed to getting it via Bluefin), but anyway, if it doesn't show up then hopefully BBTS will have learned their lesson with these Ultra-Acts. It's a pre-order so it's not like they're getting anything out of it, since they don't charge until the item arrives.

Anyway, I've never seen a single episode of Return of Ultraman so I'll hardly be heartbroken if he doesn't come through. I pre-ordered him as much through idle curiosity as anything else.

Poe got it. I was referring to the chances of BBTS fulfilling those preorders, especially Jack, and their incredibly unlikely chance of being filled. It was funny, even if you guys weren't seriously pinning your hopes on them.

You need to fix that whole "not seeing Return" thing by the way. Hikari Senshi did the first eleven episodes, but haven't reuploaded any besides the first. I've also got Arislan's older subs of episode 1 and the infamous Black King two-parter that I can put up sometime. Return of Ultraman is a great series from what I've seen of it, but as always suffers for the lack of attention anything Ultraman gets from fansub groups.

It's the S.H.MonsterArts stuff I don't take any chances with (even though it's all been abundant so far). I'm a newcomer to Ultrafandom so I can live without pretty much any of it, although I've already got quite a bit.

At least you can get all of Return of Ultraman raw from Tokuzilla. Not the best option because of how slow their host is, but at least you can see it. Same with Taro, Leo, etc.

I personally doubt that BBTS will fill those preorders, either. Hence why I went another route with Jack. Can hardly wait to get ahold of him!

I tired to use Otacute to get Jack a few weeks back. It was showing as Back Ordered, and they stated specifically that if they were unable to secure the Back Order they would let me know shortly, which they did. I have not used them but I have done some research on them and they seemed to be legitimate from what I have read.

I want that Zoffy but I just had an argument with my wife about Ultra-Act toys (I believe it went something along the lines of "Why do you have another Ultraman toy?!") so I may have to pass on him. I like Zoffy but right now am focusing on the "main" Showa Ultra Heroes, hence why I got Jack (whom the argument was about) and have Taro on preorder, and continue to hunt Seven. (I have an Ace all lined up but have to wait now to buy him because of aforementioned argument.) Thanks for the head's up though!

Speaking of, I just got a chance to open my Jack last night, and man, is he sweet. The javelin alone, and the fun you get with posing him throwing it, makes the whole figure for me. The jointing is sturdy enough to support some real good throwing poses, and right now I have him in an attacking pose (rearing back to throw the javelin) to go along with Ultraman and Leo. I also am very happy that his Multi-Weapon wristamajig was also included; it fits over his wrist when you pop a hand off. Very cool figure all around.

I see, hopefully you can talk her into it eventually and you can snag a Zoffy later on (and hopefully not for a crazy price)! Even though I've mentally committing to picking up more stuff from this line, I am still trying to limit myself to what genuinely appeals to me instead of my usual "Oh fuck it, I'll gobble it all up" route.

Also, are we aware of any other stuff coming down the pike after Father, Taro, King Gridman, and Blue Nexus Junis? I was poking around he tamashii.jp site, and that was all of the Ultra Act stuff I could find... plenty of preorders avail for King Gridman, for what it's worth. If I got any of them it would be Thunder Gridman, personally.

Bandai has a full plate on their hands with the Sentai Figuarts this summer, and Ultra-Act has taken it easy in busier release periods either. It's not too surprising or worrying for it to happen again.

I had been wondering about this too. Maybe they can squeeze another rerelease or two in during the summer before new stuff starts up again? If not, at least it'll give me some time to catch up on things I've missed.

On the plus side, I received a shipping notice from eToys earlier today for Jack! This should be cool.

Oh, where reissues are concerned, they are rarely ever announced as far in advance as new releases. I'd say the odds of getting at least one brothers (or, unlikely, some kaiju) reissued in that period are good, if not guaranteed.

Anyone got any good tips on a Heisei Ultraman to buy? I'm gonna be getting my first one and I want it to be one from the Heisei era and a really nice one.

I have heard good things about Dyna Flash Type as far as jointing and poseability. And he certainly is a Hesai era Ultra Hero.
