Also, Gaim is Gaim! Anything that does the same thing in an attempt to duplicate the success based on little more than zaniness and memories of Gaim might not succeed.

Yes and yes. The ninja disguised their smoke bombs as fruit and used the youkai's appearance to instill fear in their enemies.

I don't know about the history, but in 2009's Fresh Pretty Cure, the theme is also fruits and dancing.

But after all, Gaim itself takes the previous seasons of riders and anime about magical girls as a basis. So everything is possible, the main thing is not to be inspired by one thing.

I can imagine the new ninja rangers going by Hurricaneger vs Gouraiger until united by one ranger. With the concepts of ninjas & fruits

Thats a bit of an odd question. I don't think any ethnic background is more or less "suitable" for any of them. Power Rangers does a solid job at having diverse casts without resorting to any sorts of stereotypes

Which one ranger suit do you think would look better in another color? Personally I think Kiramai Yellow would look nice in black as well.

For those who have Netflix check out the sumo drama Sanctuary and be surprised to find a few familiar faces most notably So Kaku who plays Kaguragi/Hachi Ohger in King-Ohger and Takashi Sasano who plays Yoshitaka Igasaki aka Grandpa in Ninninger as recurring roles. Also, the main character is played by an actor named Wataru Ichinose who apparently played the shaved head weightlifting club student from Fourze and an otaku in Akibaranger.

Just kind of hit me that neither of King Ohger's main villains are insects (A worm and a tardigrade).
They're also 2 creatures that are essentially harmless.

So that thing inside Dagded's head is a tardigrade. I bet it's likely that's his true form.

I've been using region free disks to catch up.

I finished Bouken on Brazil NTSC disk and had watched Go Busters as well.

Go Busters was cool with the Spy theme.

Deka is the 2nd series I've swapped in for the Shout Factory set with Aba the first.

I will swap over my Brazil sets once Shout brings them to the
US.

Once Kyo and Nin are finished I may watch Kyu anyways.

As for Kyo I actually liked this series honestly.

To Quger is solid having nearly seen half of it.

I also like Kyu as well so far. It would have given us a 2nd

The US could have cut it back to 6 Rangers and it would

Zyu Oh is solid and it's cool to see another Wild Force type series.

Myself it was Gokiager back when it first aired. With overtime subs. I actually bought bootleg dvds off ebay since I had no I internet at the time. To this day still one of my favorite series

I was really into Power Rangers back in the late '00s so when it was cancelled after RPM I started watching Goseiger to fill the void. It really didn't work, but I tried again the next year with Gokaiger and had a much better time.

Only the first 5 episodes of Liveman and the Gokaiger movie were subtitled in my native language, so there were those.

Watched snippets of Magiranger and Boukenger when my older brother started getting into Sentai and Kamen Rider.

Back in 2022, the actress who played MegaYellow in Megaranger did an audio commentary of Megaranger Ep. 1, and now that commentary has a digest version with English Subtitles thanks to Japanese fans for the benefit of overseas fans.

I recently saw Yasuhisa Furuhara aka Go-on Red's youtube channel and Keisuke Minami who played Tsurugi in Kyuranger was a guest. He said that he's done multiple sentai auditions prior to being a part of Kyuranger and one of them was auditioning for the role of Bouken Blue. According to him, it ended up for Toei to choose from two candidate teams of five for Boukenger, and it seems that Minami was in the team that didn't make it.
But what was wild was that Hiroaki Iwanaga, who notably played R5, Kamen Rider Birth, and the new Shaider was also auditioning and could've been Bouken Red instead of Mitsuomi Takahashi had things turned out differently. Also, Furuhara auditioned for the role of Bouken Silver.

It's always fun to learn about stuff like this.
Other little audition tidbits is that Jo Odagiri (Kuuga) auditioned for GoGoV, and that Yutaka Kobayashi (Baron) actually got the role of Gokai Red, but had to bow out.

It seems roles in Boukenger were sought after, though, if future toku alum all tried out for it :lol

I'm guessing the whole anniversary aspect could've been one reason why. Oh yeah, and Hayashi who went on to play Hoji in Dekaranger auditioned for Mikoto iirc.

I didn't consider it's anniversary status being the reason, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being it. 30th anniversary of such a major franchise would definitely be an enticing reason to try and be part of the main cast.

Minami later auditioned for a role in Kamen Rider W, which he did not specify, but didn't make it apparently and tried again for ToQ6 but probably didn't make the cut as well since Nagahama took that role and then finally got the part for Kyuranger during his 30s. He didn't do Go-onger because he was doing the Prince of Tennis musicals around that time, but I bet he would've made a decent Ren or Gunpei had he done it.

Funnily enough, he did appear in an early episode of Go-On as a love interest for Saki (who turns out to be someone she asked for help with a job) who Sosuke and Gunpei discuss the possibility of recruiting.

• Kuwagata Ohger: Taro & Sonoi. Both leaders and they try to revive Sonoi together.
• Tombo Ohger: Shinichi
• Kamakiri Ohger: Haruka & Sonoza. Haruka shares with Hymeno her love of manga.
• Papillon Ohger: Tsubasa & Sononi. Rita puts Tsubasa on trials, especially his relationship crisis with Sononi & Natsumi. Even puts him in jail for his sins.
• Hachi Ohger: Tsuyohi
• Spider Kumonos: Jiro. Jeramie can help Jiro with his problems, remolding him to be someone not an enemy of Taro.

Sonoi is still alive by the end of DonBros.
Tsubasa hasn't actually commited any crimes, and Rita is smart enough to do research on these subjects. Not to mention Tsubasa and Natsumi's relationship has already ended.
Jiro's arc and alternative personality were resolved, and he no longer harbors any animosity towards Taro.
Also, unless Racles makes a change, Don Murasame already established he wanted to fight alongside the DonBros, while Racles is still evil.

Except there's the DonBrothers vs Zenkaiger crossover after the events of the show.

And I don't think Natsumi exactly knows what really happened. Tsubasa needs to confess everything that happened to her, if he's still willing to keep Sononi. And Sonoi is dead.

And the new Jiro got thrown off by the team and he winds up in the hospital after his payback beating by Sonoi.

So I just learned Amano's wife appeared in the King-Ohger summer movie as the former queen of Tohfu.

I never want to watch Sentai like that!!! It affects me so much I want those cowards to knock it off and get beat. If I was part of a Sentai team, I offer to sacrifice myself for my comrades to let them hate me, throw things & pummel me until the children would defend us against the cruel words of the adults.

I don't hate that approach, but it hasn't been handled well.

I didn't really understand why everyone turned on the Megarangers like they did. It seemed like an extreme reaction. The only thing I can surmise is that the people around them felt betrayed and thought the Rangers didn't trust them, but I still think it was poorly handled ostracizing; make them outcasts who still fight when everybody is a raving moron!

That said, the Megaranger finale did come correct when everybody wised-up and realized the folly of their condemnation. The team wouldn't back down and there was one or two defenders and eventually it seemed like only the teachers and the school administration was at fault.

Well I still have a hate for all the civilians who mistreated the Megaranger badly as they're heroes. They deserve REAL RESPECT!

The same with Kyuranger when the people of Earth blames them for their problems and forgotten about the other past Sentai who saved their lives.

Humanity on Earth never learns that lesson! (Mostly Japan because they're always scared & cowardice).

Kyuranger is set in a separate universe! Past Sentai don't apply in that context.

I've been watching more of Yasuhisa Furuhara's youtube channel (Go-on Red actor) these days because his interview podcasts with toku alumni are fun, which, some episodes seem to have English subs for those interested. Not all of them, but some. The Ryuichiro Nishioka aka Go Red episodes had them for sure. (Furuhara uploads them as two-parters.)
Anyway, saw Gao Red aka Noboru Kaneko's interview and was surprised to learn that Ginga Green and him were in a band once, he served Kazuki Maehara aka Ginga Red pre-Gaoranger at what is known as a cafe bar, and got close with Ryuichiro Nishioka after his co-star's friend for a stage theater show introduced herself to Kaneko as Nishioka's mother.
Speaking of Nishioka, his first scenes shot for GogoV were the helicopter hanging scene and a scene where he had to carry a woman on his back while holding a baby in full firefighter gear.

Based on what we are given so far, I really like Boon Orange's suit out of the core five for some reason.

Wonder if we'll ever see a Gaoranger reunion someday?
