The ones that come to mind that would work best are Kuuga, Den-O, Kiva and Wizard. Maaaybe Decade but that's a lot of Kamen Rides.
I think the thing is though that W does it most elegantly because of his mix and matching. Maybe Ghost could be interesting if you had his Damashii but for a time could power up into Toucon? |
I imagine Build would work too. Though similar to how OOO is limited to Full Combos, Build would likely be limited to Best Matches.
With Kuuga I imagine they'd probably skip his Rising forms entirely, unfortunately. |

Metal Cluster Hopper is definitely the easiest way to get the 200-hit combo trophy, if anyone was curious.

Pro tip for those who haven't played yet or who haven't finished yet: Do the Survival Modes as soon as they unlock.
Anyway, I just finished the game, and I liked it! I feel it's got some issues here and there, but overall, I do hope that a sequel will get made that improves upon the system they already have. |
Has anyone on here gotten the switch version? And if so is it any good? Like no frame rate issues or bugs not found in the PS4 version.
|
I ordered the Switch version and I'm still waiting on it to arrive. :(
I'll update once I get it. I've been anxiously waiting to play it |
Hopefully it gets to you quickly and works great on switch. I was suprised to see ign cover a rider game, but from the pics and streams it looks like a great one. It has its flaws, but looks and works much better than the climax games ( as super fun as they may be).

Just checked the tracking info on my copy of Memory of Heroez...
Addressee Unknown Your item was returned to the sender because the addressee was not known at the delivery address noted on the package. Just great. Is there anyplace I can buy it domestically for a reasonable price now? |
So apparently the Japanese version has full English text. I tried to buy the game from the Japanese eShop but wow the Japanese eShop version of Memory of Heroez is $125 for the Premium sound version and $80 for the regular version!
Why does the digital version have such a high price? The physical game in Japan retails for $125 and $60 respectively. Yikes what a mess. |
If they ever get around to making an Ex-Aid crossover it'll be such a missed oppurtunity to do a PSVR exclusive Creator Gamer form for a boss fight with the guy from Hurricane Ninja!
|
I got my Switch version and messed around with it a bit. Two things I wanted to bring up:
1. It seems to run fine, I'm not the pickiest when it comes to stuff like high framerates or whatever, but I didn't encounter any issues from playing so far besides the system getting a bit hot. 2. You can redeem the codes in the box by logging into your Nintendo account in a browser and switching your region to Japan (yes, it should be Japan even for the English boxed version). You can then access the Japanese eshop and redeem the codes there and you can still access the DLC after switching your region back to what it was before. |

Here's another tip for those just starting out, prioritize playing as any characters other than W or OOO as often as you can. Those are the two you're outright forced to play as more often than anyone else, so you should have no trouble leveling them. Whereas everyone else will get left behind in terms of levels otherwise.

Hands down the character I've used least is Zero-One. It'll be a minute before I max him out. It's not his fault. I am a fan of the series but in this game hes more like an afterthought, and his form changes just arent in the same vein as the others. The character I was most surprised with was Accel. I knew he was in the game, but wasn't sure how I would like him as playable. But man, his Booster mode is fun AF. I feel like it's pretty strong. Maybe I just like flying and swooping down cutting bad guys in half with a big sword... *Imagines how OP a Luna/Accel Booster Mode would be* |
I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m pretty sure the game will not be very long, but it sounds nice that there are higher difficulties and survival mode to give it a bit more substance. I just wish I was a little better at it, I got thrashed when I tried out survival.

Halfway through the game on Extreme Mode now, and I've made a new discovery: Sagozo and CycloneMetal are secret-God-tier.
Both of these forms have mechanics that let you completely ignore the counterattack mechanic if you have trouble with it. With CycloneMetal, the attack that was advertised as his anti-projectile shield actually works on way more that just those. If a boss has an attack where they rush at you, for example, Mezool? Twirling your rod infront of them will not only block their attack if you have RP, but will also absolutely shred their armor. It's a similar situation with Sagozo. His Block actually lets you tank almost anything for minimal RP cost. And his third upgrade increases his armor damage, making him an amazing can opener. His switch-in attack is also pretty good. Not known if these tactics work on the final boss yet, but will be sure to update you all when I find out. |
Oh yeah the blocking in this game is stupidly good in regards to certain characters especially if you get the RP cost down.
Sagozo's block helped me out quite a few times. |
I just finished my first playthrough. Honestly it was really fun, and probably had a better plot than most post-show Kamen Rider content. (Anyone remember that one horny W manga no one liked? You shut the memory out? Wise.) The plot almost felt like it was some lost crossover film, and actually one of the good ones! I definitely think the normal battles could be pretty button mashy, but the boss fights were really cool and thrilling, it almost makes me wish the game was just one big boss gauntlet with the grunts cut out entirely. It let me do cool Kamen Rider stuff in a video game, how much more can I want? I would LOVE to see them polish and improve on this base in a future game. I like the idea of one with Faiz and Kabuto characters, with a focus on using their speed to do slow-mo combat.

To be perfectly blunt a friend and I basically call this game Movie War Core II since it basically is.
Hell, "Core Energy" is a big part of the plot even. |
Imma need to try Sagozo and Cyclone Metal more for those blocks! Thanks for the tip!
And yeah, you could probably have a drinking game with how often they say "core energy" in the story. It DOES feel like a decent W/OOO crossover movie to me too! I didn't really have a lot of expectations for the game other than what I saw in trailers. I was just happy that it would have some story, feature my faves, and not just be some kinda vs fighter. I feel like a lil kid again playing it, and that's perfect! |
I'm just legitimately happy at how many minor monsters from W and OOO managed to make it in the game.
Normally they only ever really do the Boss Kaijin/General's, so to see some picks like Magma and so forth is just real nice. |
Two whole playthroughs and I still didn't have enough codes to buy every upgrade for every form. Third playthrough it is!
Before that though, lemme just say, if any of you thought the final boss was tough in Standard Mode, oh man, Extreme Mode will leave you really frustrated. One hit and you're basically dead. As such I feel it's only right for me to give you all some tips on how best to handle this behemoth, no matter what difficulty you're playing on. And before anyone asks, sadly, no, the CycloneMetal trick doesn't work on him. Well, mostly. I'll explain in a bit. Phase 1 Use Zero-One. And more specifically, focus on using MetalCluster Hopper the most, as it does the most armor damage. What this phase really comes down to is good timing with your dodges. Whenever he backs off from you or do can't get a clear opening to run in on him, send out for grasshopper drones to deal some tick damage. When it comes to his ice meteor attack, switch to Flying Falcon and fly to the top of the screen and then drop down; It's the simplest way to avoid them all. When the armor is broken, I've weirdly enough found that Rising Hopper has the highest DPS, so go in with him. Phase 2 Use W. The main form to focus on here is CycloneTrigger, because for those of you who've played games like this before, this dude is basically a PS2 action game final boss. Try to stay at a range and pepper him with shots when you can. His dome attacks actually only hit the ground, so be sure to Air Step over them when he uses them. When it comes to his beam, remember that if you don't perfect dodge it for a counterattack, he'll sweep it across the screen, and no, you can't jump over it. When he summons four meteors, you can actually reflect them with CycloneMetal, and if you do, the 4th hit will actually stun him so you can either recover RP or get some extra hits in. Phase 3 Use OOO. This is by far the easiest phase, especially since Sagozo, the best form, gets to really shine here. The boss has two really easy to counterattack moves, and when it comes to the claw swipes that can't be counterattacked, Sagozo can just blocked them and then immediately go in for some armor busting. Once his armor is broken, switch to either Tajador or Mukachiri for that sweet burn and poison damage. Just be sure to be mindful of where you step, and you'll have the final battle won in no time. Hope this helps! |
Picked up the game to play a bit more of it as I'm slowly burning through the trophies to level up and get everyone's abilities. I really dislike how certain sections force you as a character. More specifically in New Game+
Like, they acknowledge that it is New Game+ and you get certain things there like a battle timer, but also like... they still force you to play as characters and force you into the Form Tutorial Segments. I kinda wish they'd have a way to skip past those cause I really hate how I'm forced to be a character when I want to level others up. Like super early on for OOO after you get Gatakiriba there's a jumping segment where you have to use that forms special jumping ability. But also Zero-One ends up having the same ability via Rising Hopper, so I don't get why they couldn't just let you use whoever you want in New Game+ since you have multiple Riders who can get past certain "platforming" challenges. |
Aww, damn; I was hoping they'd let you free play as any of the Riders in NG+. Oh well
|
Like you have access to all the characters and can play as them whenever they give you the option to, such as me using Zero-One to fight the first boss in the game.
But when it's certain specific sections, like trying out a new form, or just character specific one's like Eiji being like "Just leave this to me" in a cutscene, you're locked to him in particular for the entire segment. |
Sorry to bump the thread, but I'm considering getting the game.
I know the Japanese version has some English text, but is it just subtitles, or are menus also in English? Will I have any issues at all with getting through it? |
Both the Japanese and SEA version have english subtitles and menus. The game is very easy to navigate

For those who can't experience the game themselves, I made a Longplay of it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stBCpf7yhrE I didn't do 100%(there are a few hidden SD card spots that are utterly superfluous), but I did definitely make sure to show off as much as I could in terms of gameplay. Hope you all enjoy! |
As promised, here's my review of my first few hours of gameplay as I assume the roles of Double and Joker in a quest to liberate Sector City's City Sector.
WARNING: May contain minor story spoilers! Combat: The first thing I noticed is that the fights are a lot like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which released around the same time. You have a gauge, RP (Rider Points), which depletes when you evade and use strong and unique attacks. I don't usually feel like I need to worry about running out but the boss fights do force me to use it more sparingly. Counterattacking is very useful! Doing it right is a 1 hit K.O. on every non-boss enemy I've encountered so far, it replenishes HP and adds a generous boost to the fight score. It's a perfectly valid strat to get SSS scores through this alone. Finishers expend a special EX gauge so there's a limit to how much you can use them, which means it's no longer broken and repetitive like it was in the Battride War games. The EX gauge encourages you to use finishers as they were intended, to finish off or at least deal significant damage to a difficult enemy. It makes the finishers feel a lot more climactic with the same kind of excitement they bring to the show. Form changing is fun but not as easy to master as the trailers make it look. I found this out the hard way. Even though one form might be super OP at one specific thing, it might be impractical at everything else. This was the case when I tried using CycloneMetal in the Smilodon boss fight. It was useful for deflecting his fireball attacks but its weak and strong attacks were difficult to use. When I realized its disadvantage, I switched back to CycloneJoker for offensive attacks. So far, this is the most damage I have sustained in a boss fight, although fortunately I was still able to secure the SSS score. Exploration: The narrow corridors and frequent cutscenes between the player character and AI (whose name is played as a joke when Shoutarou feels dumb that he didn't get the most basic pun until Phillip deduced it, which I thought was humorous) remind me a lot of my experience with the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy. Since I'm probably one of the few people who enjoyed those games, this doesn't actually bother me at all. It's linear and I've ran in to a lot of invisible walls out of my desire to check out everything, but there's still a lot to touch and look at. As seen in the trailer, Cyclone has the ability to jump over long gaps. Heat can walk through fire. Phillip's form changing has a lot of practical utility outside of combat, which is another improvement over the Battride War games. A minor complaint I have is that there are a few too many prompts that make it hard for me to feel like I'm the detective that Shoutarou and Phillip are when the game keeps telling me what I need to do. But I understand that this game is aimed at a younger audience so I can understand the reason. Voice acting: This is common knowledge now, but Shoutarou and Philip have new VAs. This was done deliberately in Shoutarou's case to allow for better interactions between the characters. However, I'm impressed with how similar they sound to the originals. Admittedly, Phillip does sound a little like Desast but I guess that's just how my hearing is attuned right now. Story: Most of what I've played so far is basically just the stuff we've already seen in the approximate 16 minute trailer, so I'll just talk about the new stuff. Zero One is the first Rider to appear in a cutscene where he admits the only reason he's here is due to the involvement of AIs, finds a Taka Medal and gets thrown off a building by Zeus. Based on what I've heard, he probably won't show up again for a while. Phillip has doubts that AI isn't just the navigational artificial intelligence she claims to be but Shoutarou has faith is her due to his "detective instinct". Not sure where this is going to lead, but I'm with Shoutarou on this. I don't think I have any reason to be suspicious of her yet. She's helpful in gameplay as well, saving my game, upgrading my Riders, etc. In addition to Professor Aida, there's also a guy called Professor Zeus. Considering the name of the Dopant who beat up Double in the CGI cutscene in the prologue, I have a bad feeling about this guy. The first boss fight is quite emotional for Shoutarou, but I don't want to spoil it for anybody. If you intend on playing this game or watching Dream Sword's LP above, I recommend you experience it for yourself. There's a cutscene with the Sonozakis in what appears to be the iconic Kamen Rider Stormdrain, presumably Sector City's Water Purification Sector. This area was in the Battride War games as well so I'm excited to see it here and looking forward to getting to experience this cool place for the first time. Zeus shows up here as well to complain about the Riders and task the Sonozakis with hunting down Double. Ryubee agrees to this since he wants to find Phillip and revive the Gaia Impact. Conclusion: A lot of my enjoyment is the surreality of playing an actual Kamen Rider game localized outside Japan with English subs. The game itself is like a combination of various other games as I mentioned above, but if you like what you hear, I would recommend it for sure! |
Glad you're enjoying the game! One thing the game definitely wants to emphasize as it continues to go on it the constant swapping of forms. The Smilodon boss fight is actually a good example, as it expects you to swap to one of the Metal Combos when deflecting fireballs and then immediately switch back to the Joker Combos in order to deal damage. I will say though that some fights take it a little too far, so I hope you're not easily annoyed by the repeating of Henshin Jingles!
|
Thanks! Smilodon is the first boss that made me feel like I needed to change forms and couldn't just rely on the same one. I did manage to finish him with a Metal Twister though, so I'm happy with that. I like the idea of form changes actually being important to getting the right strat for boss fights, rather than just being a trivial fun gimmick like it was in Battride War. Looking forward to the playing the next Sector!

are there any anniversaries this or next year that they could make a sequel out of?

Gonna post this here and in like two other spots to gauge interest. tl;dr at the bottom.
The recent Rider Week announcement got me thinking, I really should do something celebrate the 50th Anniversary. It's a big deal afterall! But my skill set is pretty limited, and I'm not exactly the biggest KR buff as of yet. But what to do? Well luckily for me a recent conversation I had with a buddy of mine gave me the inspiration I needed. No one else has made one as of yet so... why not a Let's Play of Memory of Heroez? But just doing what I usually do by having me and some friends play wouldn't exactly be anything special in terms of a 50th Anniversary, so I figured, why not get the rest of the Toku community I interact with involved? That's right. For anyone interested, I want you guys to be guests during this LP. Come talk about the game, W, OOO, Zero-One, or heck, just celebrate Kamen Rider in general while experiencing what I personally consider the best Kamen Rider video game to date. The only real requirement being that you have Discord and be willing to have your voice recorded. Please let me know if you're interested or have any questions, and I hope you guys are willing to join in on the fun! tl;dr I wanna do a Let's Play of Memory of Heroez to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Kamen Rider and you guys are invited to be guests during it. Lemme know if you're interested. |
