Well, even if it's not legally streaming, I actually just finished the original Gavan right before it aired, so I feel pretty good!
|
|
Well, Brazil is only scheduled to get their announcement in (checks watch) 2 minutes from now, so we may get it last minute as well.
|
Okay, so Latin America is getting Gavan Infinity but it will be broadcast a week late. It was supposed to be a simulcast but They didn't get the video from Toei in time.

Toei successfully launch a global rollout challenge: IMPOSSIBLE

Ray Fujita of GARO and Kamen Rider Faiz fame is the voice of Death Gavan.

Just saw the first Episode raw, since it appears we're either waiting for the global release (judging by the "Coming Soon" from the Trailers), and so far, I gotta say, I liked what I saw!
Still feels a little too similar to Kamen Rider, but there's some OG Gavan thrown into the mix that'll definitely make fans happy, plus it appears some of the things I'm hoping to see in this show are on their way. I won't spoil what I could discern from the raw episode, but I am definitely giving this a rewatch when the English Subs are out. And on one last note, the Opening absolutely slams! |

For anybody who has seen it already: how connected to the original Gavan does it seem so far?
Trying to decide if I should try to binge it and then catch up when I'm done, or just hop on now and watch the original Gavan down the line (the latter of which seems to be much easier and more likely :lol) |

We still get "Jouchaku" and "Mouichido Miteimiyo" scene to show the full transformation. We still get a kind of "Laser Blade" and Gavan Dynamic Finisher. There's apparently still a "Makuu Space." The eyecatch has a similar theme to the OG. |

Though I encourage you to keep watching the original Gavan. I was lucky in that I watched it last summer and when Infinity was announced I jumped on and finished watching Sharivan and Shaider before the premier. The Space Sheriff trilogy turned out to be one of my favorite Toku watch throughs. |

I think I'll probably watch Gavan Infinity weekly and go back to the older ones later on when I want to see where it all came from. Side note, I think it's interesting that Metal Heroes was essentially the "new Kamen Rider" when it first started, but now it's the "new Sentai" essentially becoming a connecting bridge between the two ends of the Toei tokusatsu spectrum. |

This is very interesting.

Joking aside, I heard that, and forgive me if it was already brought up, the decision to make Gozyuger the last show of the series for now was decided since around pre-production. Man, it must've been hard for some of the staff (and I assume the core cast) trying to be tight-lipped about it. I can understand Nagata being worried and confused at the time since likely he was auditioning before the big news hit the press. |
|
I've noticed Reiji regularly says things invoking gods or divinity (at least in the translation I'm watching), while most other characters both in Gavan Infinity and other toku shows I've seen usually don't. So I'm wondering if someone more knowledgeable about Japanese language can answer this question: Are those just everyday sayings, or is it something more? The idea of a scifi hero being more religious than average is interesting, but I might be reading too much into it.

That said, here me out. I wonder if the color schemes have something to do them being a representation of the planets of the solar system. Not 100% certain myself, but just throwing it out there since the Amaterasu stuff has been brought up. Gavan Infinity > Sun Gavan Bushido > Mercury Gavan Luminous > Venus Death Gavan > Pluto, maybe? Or maybe: Gavan Infinity > Sun Gavan Bushido > Moon Gavan Luminous > stars Death Gavan > black hole Again, just throwing it out there. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdf_19_FmxM You know, at this rate, maybe we could get a Gavan that pays tribute to B-Fighter or Blue Swat. |

The Jiraiya (in the Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel version) is called Sheriff Skyfire. The Gavan Raiya are also sheriffs. I think this fact is very funny and very cool.

Kentaro Yasui of J-Pop idol group 7ORDER to play the role of Kunai Kazanami, aka Gavan Raiya.
https://natalie.mu/eiga/news/665928 Personal observation, it appears the choice to have this Jiraiya tribute Gavan don a hot pink-ish color may be due to Yasui's signature color when he's doing 7ORDER stuff being pink. |

I watched the first 5 episodes last week. I didn't mind what I watched so far, but the show feels like it's a little too kiddy in tone (I say this because 1 of the reasons cited by someone in the industry pointed to Sentai overly focusing on a kid audience that it went on hiatus after losing money). I assume it'll grow to be focused more on a general audience, but yeah. It also is just in early days, so we'll see where it goes. I like the set-up & Setsuno is my favorite character so far, probably because he reminds me of characters like Spock & Data from Star Trek. I hope they actually do something that makes having Rikiya & Patran worth having in the show because they annoy the hell out of me with how awful they are & add nothing to the show so far.
