Well of course we're getting Adventure/02-based things now; it's their 15th anniversary since their animals debuted. I doubt anything beyond them will get as much but we can still wait for Tamers-Xros Wars extras when their anniversaries hit.
And yeah, that game makes me sad. It's being made & released for last gen systems only. Obviously you can still play them on the newer ones but the fact that we aren't getting them on there as the standard shows just how low off a budget Digimon unfortunately has. |
Digimon Adventure debuted in '99...2015 is their 16th anniversary...
If they can bullshit for when their anniversary years are, then why can't they do so for Tamers, Frontier, etc etc? |
Because 2015 is 02's anniversary. Adventure & 02 are the same timeline & universe. You can't do a season with the Adventure kids being 17-or-so without acknowledging 02's events since it's gonna take place after 02. And the more I think about it the more I believe this was intentional. Imagine if we had the celebratory season last year with just Adventure & then this year would've been the one with 02.....only the Adventure cast is 2/3 of the 02 cast. Meaning the Adventure people would technically have 2 specials in a row which would be repetitive & exhausting.

But we're not celebrating 02. Hell, if I recall, Frontier is the first series to be entirely disconnected from Adventure, so if they were to pull a 15th anniversary bullshit with every series, why not toss Tamers in? Despite not appearing in 02, Ryo is just as big a part of Adventure, playing into a large part of Ken's backstory.
I honestly don't care if Adventure gets a second sequel (I may question the point, but I'm still going to watch). But to use it as a justification to disregard the remainder of the franchise as "Just wait another 3-7 years for their anniversaries!" and pander near exclusively to one series is what's bringing my piss to a boil. |
Tamers ties to the Adventure series always geniuly confused me.
Seeing as i just bought a PS3 this week i think i'll pick up the game. |
I don't see getting mad about it being the right reaction. Just because people like us would doesn't mean we are the majority. Focusing on the Adventure/02 is just the natural conclusion since we'd be going in order, plus it's the most recognizable to the general public. If this anniversary gets enough support & attention then the companies may be more inclined to do this again some other time with other seasons in mind. And it's not like they neglect those other seasons on purpose. If anything, Digimon does a better job of expanding attention throughout their franchise than others I've been a part of. If they only cared about Adventure/02 then we wouldn't have had other seasons represented in Hunters, Figuarts, video games, etc.

That and I really, really hated Ryo, so I'm kinda biased :p Quote:
I'm naturally biased, as, during my rewatch of Adventure and 02, I had to force a sit through. They were both just...Uninteresting and dull. It honestly felt like they didn't deserve the attention they tended to get over series like Tamers or Savers. |
A Tamers anniversary is actually a terrible thing to think about really. Either it doesn't happen & people who think Tamers is flawless just because its darker (when it has plenty of flaws) stay bitter & hate everything Digimon is associated with or it happens but the die-hard Tamers fans won't accept it just because Chiaki J. Konaka (the main writer for Tamers) more than likely won't have anything to do with it. It's put on such a pedestal by fans that no matter what's done with it it'll be dead-on-arrival.

To call a series flawless would be irresponsible and just shows how little the viewer knows.
I know Tamers has it's flaws, and I don't place it on a pedestal because it's darker. I do so because it's not just a romp through candy land that suddenly goes dark during the final 10 episodes because it wanted to. It set a tone and, despite the dub fucking up royal occasionally, kept it. Tamers also didn't operate on the idea that 2 characters should be focused on and the rest existed solely to build them up as gods amongst the group. Do I like Tamers too much? Fine. Will a Tamers anniversary be horrible because it's not perfect? Fine. I don't really care. Digimon isn't just Adventure, and it hasn't been since 2001. |
