And this is why TV-Nihon subs are no good.

I'm sorry but Gosei Red and Toq #1 were anything but loud mouths, especially when compared to DekaRed, Geki Red and Go-On Red

True, they were a quite different type of character. Child-like, cheerful, yeah, but not the "loud" type Ban, Jan or Sousuke were.

How? Akashi was a good balance between serious and a dork, he had his serious moments and at the same time he had his goofy moments, had a passion for what he did, and helped his teammates grow and bond together while giving a good example to lead and follow, he has the quintessential qualities of what a Sentai Red needs.

I don't think the "loud" reds are as awful as people make them to be. Ban had a lot of great leadership qualities and intelligence that people overlook due to his yelling, he's one of my favorite Sentai Reds. But they are some really awful ones out there, such as Kai Ozu, who they focused on developing the wrong aspects of him and actually reminded me of what not a Sentai Red should be. I hated him.

And HenshinTrouble, it's nice to see that you are watching Sentai with your son! I was his age when I first started watching Sentai. Personally I recommend Boukenger and Go-Onger, as those were 2 series that I saw parts of when I was his age and younger and maybe those can have a similar appeal to him too.

I don't see why this matters. Kids are going to hear/see those words somewhere, so it is better to learn them while with their parents so their parents can explain why they shouldn't use them.

Hell, I got in trouble in third grade for telling a girl to "Suck my dick," because I had no idea what it meant, I just knew it was meant to be an insult because one of my friends said it a few weeks prior. My dad explained to me what it meant and I never used it again until I was an adult.

They were still immature brats. Hell, Gosei Red didn't even look hold enough to not have homework, let alone be a super hero.

Aside from the fact that i was more joking/mocking, a lot of the cursing in TV-Nihon subs is actually mistranslation as in "overdoing it for sounding cool". And it's annoying as hell.

Explaining a bad word is an entirely different thing than watching a show which drops these insults every episode. Because eventually kids will think it’s cool since their heroes say it all the time, no matter what you told them earlier.

And as Suzu said, it’s completely pointless since the words are not that hard in the Japanese language. TV Nihon is just translating it that way because they think it’s edgy and cool. It’s not. Same with their annoying "We won’t translate oni-chan and stuff because anime"-mindset.

What does how someone look relate to their role as a hero?

I just didn't find him an entertaining Red. Simple as that. He led the team well and that's great. I just didn't really find him endearing.

Good point, but I just couldn't take him seriously as the red ranger.
