What makes Lauren significant outside of being the first proper female Red? Wes is the best for being an actually interesting character with a good plot-line and chemistry with his team.
I hated how they handled the female Red plotline. In Shinkenger, it was an actual point of drama, she had a good reason to take over and there was a real reason for Takeru to feel like his life was meaningless because of Kaoru's arrival. In Samurai, the whole things was a joke. There was no reason for Jayden to leave, let alone for his team to act like jerks about it and Jayden just came off as big sook that was just doing things because he was a drama whore, hell, he even left voluntarily, Lauren asked him to stay! It was so stupid. You can't take out the reason why everything is happening but then make the characters act like it was there. |
So did they not do the Kagemusha plot in Samurai?
Edit: Well, I watched OhRanger episodes 13-24 and my god this show is not horrible, but the ranger cast is just so uninteresting and mediocre. There is nothing to like about ANY of them, even in their own episodes. Sure, there are series where maybe only half of the rangers have any development, but even OhRed has not had anything to develop his character outside of gaining RedPuncher, but that doesn't tell me anything about him. This show feels a lot different than what I thought it was when I first watched it 9 years ago, and I'm not sure if it is because I have seen a lot more Sentai series since then or what. |

Watched Gobusters episode 9, AHH i love it when the protagonists of a story outsmart the villains to the point of them having a small break down.
|
After seeing the new villain and upgrade, I'm interested in giving Kyoryuger another go, I gave up around ten episodes ago (about 11 or 12 anyway), is there anywhere worth jumping into in those ten episodes or is a waste of my time?
And before someone says 'the whole show is amazing!' my dislike for the show was that they made a one note gag and built a whole episode around it, I'm asking if the show actually properly starts telling a story and progressing its characters in those ten or so episodes that have aired after I got fed up. Because if the show is still a one line gag and some violence then meh. |
As much as I love Kyoryuger, honestly the show hasn't changed much from where it started off, if at all. If you didn't like it at the start I doubt you'll change your mind now.

What!! The show has changed quite a bit. We have had KyoryuGold, Violet, and Gray appear in all of these episodes. Plus, we had plot development, character development between Ian and Aigaron, development with some of the villains, etc.

So I watched episode sixteen. After watching so much Kamen Rider, I felt about like this during the fight scenes http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lf...aq8mo1_500.gif not only are there six Kyoryuger but they all have their own personal powers and there was just so much happening on screen at once, it was chaotic perhaps but it just blew me away by how much money seems to have been thrown at this. It's fantastic and so much fun. I love Ian and Souji especially.
Still, pretty much everything I disliked about the show was still there. Although it didn't actively insult its audience, it was fairly uninteresting that Ian wanted to revenge for his friend, then Souji went 'get over it' and then Ian went 'okay' and then that was the end of all emotional connection. Plus the Deboss Legion are like the worst villains of all time, I'd rather eat rusty nails than every hear Canderilla's song so the fact the episode opened with that shit almost made me exit out straight away. Hell the show seems to even actively know all the Commanders suck and close to points it out. If you know the Commanders are shit, make them good... don't revel in it. Also, last I watched KyoryuGold sucked because he was overpowered and completely threw off the initial almost zen balancing of the team that made them so fun to watch, so I've no idea what happened over the five episodes I skipped but now he just seems like a complete spare part, awkwardly slotted and forced in in unnatural ways one moment and the next just as awkwardly standing in the background. |
I like the Deboss Legion. I'd take them over the Warstars, the machine dudes from Go-On, and the dudes from Shinken any day.

So I just watched Super Hero Taisen.
Overall I feel that the Super Sentai side of the movie fared out somewhat better than the Rider one, since they focused exclusively on the Gokaigers, not that it was particulary good, but Joe and Doc together made more sense than Kaito and Hina. Also Marvelous was overpowered as heck. I'm used to Decade being ridiculously overpowered, but it feels out of place on Gokai Red. Oh and the Go-Busters were also in it, they used Go-BusterOh and did stuff on it. When youko fell of the megazord *facepalm*, the 3 of them doing Fourze's pose was fun though |

I agree with Switch. I preorder the BD and was sorely disappointed I did I then watched it subbed last month, hoping it would be better, but nope, it was even worse.

And Doc was just chilling out with Hina about twenty feet away. Did the writer just forget that he's GokaiGreen? I mean, yeah, Yonemura is a hella sloppy writer, but god damn. |

I expected a movie about the Go-Busters and Fourze/Meteor teaming up to discover the reason behind the Sentai/Rider war. Instead we got this. |
Watching some more of Gobusters, i love how robots are like commonplace in this universe so nobody is actually paying attention to Nick, the brightly colored transformer.

I see Ryuji's Power rangers counterpart to be scottish like Flynn was because i honestly don't see another english voice coming out of there other than a scottish one.
|
I see it as this for the Go-Busters adaptation: since RPM is set in an alternate time line, the adaptation will be set in the main universe where Venjix has constant resistance against him thus he could not poison the air/water. The main rangers can be alternate versions of the main rangers from RPM. With all this, RPM will be confirmed to most fans as an alternate universe.
but these are just my thoughts. |

Dekaranger episode 10: Ban got Friendzoned. poor guy.
|
OhRanger episodes 25-36 and outside of 32-34, the show remains bland. I do not understand this. The show has mythology backing the rangers, King Ranger is pretty bad ass, Baranoia is an interesting concept, the first set of mechs look cool, but the execution is just so friggin boring. The rangers have had no development whatsoever, even OhRed. Hell, I know more about Dorin than I do the ranger cast from just one episode, and that is saying a lot. WEll, enough complaining for now, I need to move on and continue with 37. Almost done.

So ep 5-6 of go-busters are done for.
I liked that the plot actually moved from protecting the Enetron tanks into more varied missions. Plus the events of 5 continued almost directly from the events of 4, explaining Ryuuji weakness, which I thought was... weird but quite interesting. And Go-BusterOh appeared, I'm not a big fan of the mecha fights in the other Sentai series I checked out, but in this series it's working so good. My only question so far is if we have learned what is Youko power, Hiromu speeds up, Ryuuji gets stronger, and Youko... was called a genius by Usada, and that's it. |
I hated the combined mecha in that show, Ace was so cool and they did such a good job of designing him, but also making him move, and constructing him in a way that actually made him feel like a real mech.
Then what do they do? Go straight to some obese stacked cardboard lego mess with cheap material flapping around and a suit so bulky the actor can barely move in it. Ryuuji's addition to the mech is literally a giant gut. |

And I have now completely OhRanger in all of its blandness glory. I'll type up my full thoughts on the show in just a little bit as I really won't have time to do so now before UPS comes with my figures.
|
That reminds me, I should finish up Zyuranger soon considering I only have like, 5 episodes left to watch.
|
So ep 7 of Go-Busters, Gotta love that Enter actually wanted to avoid the Monster of the week stereotype, and get enough enetron to plan a bigger attack... but Messiah is a spoiled kid.
Also I finally saw Youko jumping high, I guess I didn't notice earlier because sentai members generally are really good at jumping. Man I'm loving this so far. |
My complete OhRanger Review:
I just spent the last few days rewatching OhRanger for the first time in about 9 years and OH MY GOD, what the hell happened? This show is boring. The ranger cast are some of the most bland characters out there. I know more about Jury's boobs from one episode than I do of the rangers in their entire 48 episode run. They are down right boring and have no personalities. Not just that, but there is hardly anything memorable in the show as a whole. I mean, DaiRanger has had phenomenal episodes like the ones with Father Magnet, the drunken Tofu, the Oni with the Golden Kick (Vagrant Birdcage), Jin, etc. KakuRanger had the arc when the rangers had to go their separate ways to find their new mechs, the episode where Sasuke's henshin device was being blocked by the Flower Konoichi Team, Jairaya's English speaking moments, etc. But OhRanger, OhRanger has nothing more than Baranoia conquering Earth for half an episode. Where did the show go wrong? Correction, the OhRanger vs KakuRanger movie is the only thing where OhRanger truly stands out as far as I am conerned. The first eight episodes are great. They gave this excellent feel, and then everything went away. I know they had to change things due to the subway attacks, but Baranoia suddenly went from a serious threat to goofballs in an episode. After that, the series just pretty much went through gags with babies crying, a wooden robot with a string and red ball for game, to a robot putting people to sleep. Was Bacchushund trying to take over the world through laughter? Or did he think that if his monsters got pathetic enough, the rangers were just feel sorry for him and let him win? And then we have King Ranger, who was kind of useless throughout the entire show because most of the time the rangers could have used his help, he was no where to be found. Instead, we got that pointless Gunmajin, who made absolutely no sense, to help the rangers out when a child asked him to. All right, let me take a break from the negative to talk about the positives. I liked that the show had a mythological theme to the ranger powers and their first set of mecha. The designs of OhRanger Robo and the individual mechs were very well done. Even OhPuncher was not bad, but OhBLocker and Tackle Boy were completely out of left field and did not feel like they belonged in the show at all. King Pyramider made sense too and I loved how huge he was. The ranger suits are pretty cool in design, as they are simple, but effective. Never cared for the shapes on the helmets though, as that seemed rather bothersome. I mean, does Juri have any sight problems with a line in between her visor? I liked the overall concept of Baranoia. An empire of machines trying to rule the world was a pretty cool idea. The fact that they were also done like a monarchy was also nicely done. I love how Prince Buldont becomes an adult towards the end of the series as that stuck out as pretty cool and was something I did not expect to see happen. On the other hand, they took way too long to do it. Bacchus should have been killed in the 20s so that Kaiser Buldont would be around in the mid-30s and then spend the last 10 or so episodes of the show having the rangers needing to win the Earth back instead of an episode and a half. Nevertheless, most of their standard monsters sucked. The first few had some great designs, and like I said earlier, started out looking like they were actual threats. Even some of the later monsters such as BaraGoblin and BaraNightmare were pretty damn cool. Outside of those, the majority of the monsters were an utter joke. They either looked stupid or acted stupid. Overall, the show itself has so many great ideas, but the execution is all wrong. If I recall, this show was written by various past Sentai writers, so how the hell did they drop the ball this badly? I could have forgiven the lack of threatening villain in the middle of the show had the ranger cast not been so boring to watch. Even OhRed was a joke, and the red ranger should be the one with the most character growth of them all. Instead, he never stood out from the other rangers, and felt like the exact same person he was in the first episode. King Ranger had more growth than the main cast, and even his development stopped a few episodes after his introduction. It's like Toei had no idea what they wanted to do with the show after they toned it down, and instead of coming up with something, they just made it up as they went along, making it one of the most disappointing seasons of the series and I can understand why it had the lowest ratings until Go-Buster. Sure, I still think it is better than Go-Buster, but barely. As I said, the first eight episodes were great. The King Ranger premier was pretty good. The episodes with BaraNightmare and the introduction to OhBlocker episodes and Bacchus' destruction were well done. And the majority of the episodes that feature Kaiser Buldont rocked, but that means that only half of the series is enjoyable, and for a 48 episode series, that is definitely NOT a good thing. Overall, I give the show a 3/10 and all of that is because of what it did do well in. |
Other than my weekly dose of bravery via Kyoryuger saw few eps of Kakuranger and Timeranger.
|
I saw episode 23 of Kyoryuger, that fight scene at the end... Just DAMN!
I can't believe i've reached an age where there's actually a ranger who's younger than me. I feel old. |

Eh. I wouldn't feel old over that. Considering most rangers are still my age (The 19-24 range), it's fine.
Once you start to out age the first KyoryuViolet is when you should start feeling old :lol |
