This release is kinda genius in the most corporate way.
It's an overall upgrade to original Buffa with the gripping zombie hand and removable skirt parts, you get generic zombie legs to use with Geats, Punk-Jack or any of the other DGP riders who don't have distinct leg details like Tycoon, the yellow Buffa eyes for Fever OR Boost, but you still need the original release for the normal zombie and entry eyes. And that tease of the others from the initial preview pic means they're gonna do Fever versions of Tycoon, Na-Go and Punk-Jack. All separate releases. They KNOW this line sells well and that this gimmick is loved. They're gonna milk it. And I'm admittedly a sucker for it. I want the legs, I want the new Buffa parts and I want a second Zombie torso. The swapping gimmick literally sells these themselves. |
It is interesting that along with today's Zombie Fever pre-order, they also had pre-orders for the RCF line go up: X-Geats, Doom geats and a Plosion Rage Buffa set that includes the Jamashin parts hmmm :rolleyes

So they teased a Tycoon fever form, right?
I wonder how they will approach Tycoon having the green band on his right thigh. Will it be a removable piece with a bandless thigh piece to swap in? Will they give a second set of legs for Geats et al to use? Also for punkjack fever form, will they give him guitar pants and monster pants? Should be pretty cool to see what they decide to do. |
Hmmm...guess a Fever Zombie & pants set was expecting too much.
Honestly? I'm okay with this. If every fever form will be it's own release, it's a good way for people to get them if they missed out on the first figures. IMO the fever forms are not dramatically different from the "base" suits and are fun in their own way |
Meanwhile I'm still over here waiting for a Juuga figuart.

As far as Geats is concerned I’m out, Geats IX is a must have, everything else I don’t care for in figure form. |

Build Comic Ninja existing and how it dropped should be a prime example of "We can predict somethings... but not everything" when it comes to SHF.
|
All I care about at this point is a release of SHF Durandal (I've given up hope on Falchion). We already saw the prototype a while back complete with promotional pictures.
Come on Bandai! Help us complete the SoL Riders! |
Durandal from Saber and Destream and Juuga from Revice are about all I'd need from those two seasons.
Vail and Falchion would be awesome, but I doubt we ever see those |
Rumblings that Gaim and Baron will be among the Seihous announced on the 14th.
|
Seihou Gaim would be awesome, even if I do think the ones we have now are still servicable for figures made over 10 years ago.
I think it was around Gaim or Drive where Rider Figuarts started becoming less lankier and more proportioned like their on-screen counterparts? Mostly Drive, Gaim is still noticably thin. |
I need SS Gaim. Pass on the regular releases simply because the boxes just don't fit without anything after Drive, so hopefully the rumor is true.
|
I really hope it's Seihou Fourze and Meteor instead, those figures are much worse off than Blade/Ryuki/Gaim figuarts. But Gaim anniversary is close by so I suppose that makes sense. Will be copping regardless :p
|
I don't agree with SS Gaim and Baron just cause the originals still hold up.
That said, them getting the SS treatment would make sense if they wanna work in an armor-swap feature. They know Geats sells and the form swap gimmick is popular. Why not do it for another real popular series that can manage it. |
On a side note, I picked up a custom Lopo head sculpt from a Mercari JP seller today. Very well made and works with Geats' parts (except for the visor parts)

Question, what type of material do they use for the visors, a foil sticker? |

Well this kills my wallet again lolz
But seriously if I get into the SS Gaim series I’m most likely just getting the main 4 riders and nothing else. |

I usually don't collect the SHF Seihous regularly because of their price aside from ones I really like, but it looks like I'll have to change that. I love Gaim so much.
God help me if they make a Lord Baron. |
I wish Bandai had provided some comparison shots to the original Gaim figures. These look good, and I appreciate that we can replicate the Arms Change gimmick, but the figures aren't the same obvious, massive upgrade as, say, Wizard or W. The Gaim line was when, IIRC, SHF started getting seriously good. I'll almost certainly pick them up, though: the scale will be more in line with other Seihou figures, and my original Gaim figures were starting to show some serious wear and tear.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai next offered the Arms, absent a core figure, for Pine, Ichigo, and Kiwi, should Gaim and Baron sell well. Hopefully, Fourze will eventually get some love. Perhaps they're still trying to figure out how to incorporate his limb-switching gimmick in a way that'll actually sell, given it seems like the original line did some serious pegwarming. Is Fourze now the most out-of-scale Heisei figure? |

Ryuki and Blade needed this way more than Gaim did.
|
A Banana Gaim for the lady of blue. Long has she waited.
Me personally, yeah the OG's are good enough, I don't need these. Arms Change gimmick is neat but I never once used it on figures like Geats so I won't do it here either. |

Still gonna buy these bad boyz though.
Like I buy everything |

If they were gonna do a Neo Heisei/Phase 2 Rider then it should of been Ghost or Fourze but I could understand Gaim...I guess.
I'd rather seen Blade's anniversary highlighted more in the Seihou line. Those Gaim seihous look good but as others said I'm still content with the originals especially my Kachidoki and Kiwami figuarts |
Bandai be picking and choosing when to highlight an anniversary
|
To be fair, Gaim's 10th anniversary WAS just last year, and they might be making up for the lack of Gaim stuff for it. We still got slots for other Seihous, so we shouldn't be too bothered I think.
|
FWIW, I pulled out my old Gaim SHF and while it's still an excellent figure, it "feels" like it's in a smaller scale compared to more modern releases such as, say, Gotchard. This picture may not accurately show the scale discrepancy, but it's definitely noticeable in person.
https://i.ibb.co/6nTXbNL/20240313-140131.jpg I also included Drive here because everything Drive onward seems to match up much better with modern releases. I think it mostly boils down to the size of the head, because Drive isn't much taller than Gaim, but his helmet is much bigger so he doesn't look as tiny. On the other hand, I definitely agree that Ryuki, Blade and Fourze probably needed this treatment more since they're even more out-of-scale with newer releases. Nonetheless, Gaim is in my Top 5 favorite Rider series of all-time, so I'm gonna go for the upgrade. |

Man they really made full use of the engineering techniques they got from the Geats line. Results are fantastic! Hopefully they also release Zangestu and Ryugen. I've said it before though and I'll say it again, the old Gaim Figuarts still look and function pretty good. If you're a stickler for proportions and gimmick changes, get these. Otherwise you might as well just get the over-a-decade-old ones. |
