Just finished episode 1 of Tensou Sentai Goseiger and... I LOVE IT! :D
The action is good, the Goseigers thus far are likeable and the music... FUCKING AWESOME! If I have one issue with the episode it's that the sub plot of the little kid was resolved way too quickly and just felt tacked on (Yeah, that really wasn't needed... like at all). My biggest fear with the series was that I wasn't going to like Alata because if you compare him in stature to the reds that came directly before (Takeru from Shinkenger) and directly after (Marvelous from Gokaiger) he doesn't really measure up to them in presence. But you know what? He has a strong heart and shows promise and that's good enough for me... I'm mean at least he's not Troy, am I right? |

Seriously though people, how can a series with an ending like this possibly be bad? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bULvliDcqvA |
*Sighs dreamily* Oh Moune.. I love you so much. *Watches ending again, just because*
|
I actually consider Alata to be a stronger red than Takeru and Marvelous.
He wasn't always sure of himself, so it made for greater character moments. It wasn't him telling the rest of his team to man up when they lose, it was the entire team watching each others backs, making everyone feel vital, with Alata holding them all together. He may not have the demeanor as Takeru or Marvelous, but he had the spirit and the resolve, and that's what made me enjoy watching him. Alata had character, and that's something not even a hundred flashy fight scenes can usurp. |
He at least had the personality that Takeru severely lacked and Marvelous never put out there. He was emotive and he had fun with it. I hate it when a red just acts like a badass and being badass defines their appearances. They need to have depth and character. Alata had that in spades, he never took charge the way alot of red's do, he truly relied on his team and what they were capable of to guide him.

It's just a shame about how Goseiger paces itself, making it feel very slow at some points, and rushing at others (Most notably how it divides it's power ups and power allotment), making the issue of "Nothing ever happens" somewhat valid if you don't watch for about 5-10 straight episodes.

I would just like to say that i am 4 minutes into Dairanger 33 ( Rin's idol episode ) and i laughed so damn hard outloud that i stopped it to come here to say this.
The 4 guys going nuts over her idol book was hilarious. |
So, thinking about watching Ohranger. If anything just to see if it was really that bad to almost kill super sentai.

Goseiger ep 1
(Onore Sentai!) Anyways let's get this started: -Seeing W in the Super Hero Time intro bourght a smile to my face, good times. :) -I suppose the tribe rivalry will lead to interesting stories but I'm no that fond of the concept. -The Goseigers need to keep spare copies of their cards. -I like Alata, the guy is smart enough to question the monster of the week approach. -The Gosei angels have protected earth since long times ago, yet they were never mentioned in previous seasons, classic toku tropes. :lol -Exposition kid, that's flawless storytelling. :lol -Now I really like Alata, he's kind like Wataru but determined like other Reds. -Katamary Damacy monster? That's ok with me. -No amount of transformation stock footage will make me like those suits. -Awesome music. -The voice that summons the Headders is kinda annoying... -Hey the kid subplot was resolved! I had compeltely forgot he existed :lol -Stop attacking me with awesome music Goseiger :lol Overall that was a nice first episode, looking forward to the next ones :) *Edit* Ep 2: -So the kid is staying around, ok I guess. -They are really insistent with the tribe thing. -That's a weird Mech summoning sequence. -So the headders work as Rocket punchs / kicks, that's badass. -After watching so much of Nexus, it really bothers me to see the Goseiger gleefully erasing memories. Not as good as the first one but it was ok. |

Go-Busters 16:
-Kurorin :lolol -J is the best. -That's a very rough perspective on the Hyperspace situation, poor Jin. - I knew that Jin was an avatar but I expected them to reveal that later. -No "Let's Driving" on BC-04 and SJ-05 :lol -Enetron drain, that's an interesting ability. -And Jin knows nothing about the other people in the lab... -That music box T_T 17: -Come on guys the tanks aren't trees... :lol -I need a J figuarts yesterday, come on bandai, pretty please :) -Never realized that Ryuuji had no family in Hyperspace -Seriously guys, you are carrying a ton of enetron and you didn't expect Enter? Come on! -J finally learned his place in the rollcall. -Knockoff :lol I love J/Jin's theme, anybody knows what's the instrument that plays at the start? I suck at music :p -Go-Buster Oh... we meet again. -Jin is a great Sempai. -Go-Buster Beet is nice, but definitely not as cool as Ace. -And that's the price of being the older one. :lol 18: -If enetron is a natural resource why it wasn't discovered before? the intro says clearly that it's a new energy source. -Can we get a Jin and J sitcom? -Jin's plan with the chicken was hilarious :lol -How can Jin be in buster form and J in buddyroid form? Beet buster is formed from J! -Seriously this show is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. :lol -J goes with everything. -So many reeling in comments and Urataros is nowhere to be seen... 19: -A drinking duel sort of, kinda, wtf? -J knows everything. -Robots working out? Why not. -Nick's true specialty is getting lost. :p -Buddyroid's got talent. -Kid Hiromu and Nick, so heartwarming. -The are using Go-BusterOh as something else besides a glorifed finisher? Not sure how I feel about that. -Buster Hercules confuses me. It's Beet with parts of SJ-05 hanging around, but for some reason I like it in movement, not so much when it's still. -Go-BusterOh kick gives me super hero taisen flashbacks... -Bikes are indeed useful. :p |
Goseiger epic 3, not much to say honestly:
We learn more about the individual Goseigers, they are becoming a better team, for some reason they started to refer to each other as Gosei *Color* which bothers me, as I'm used to sentai members calling each other by real name. Oh and Alata is still awesome. |
Go-Buster vs Gokaiger, I still find the movie enjoyable.

Go-Busters 20:
-Ryutaros is a Metaroid? Neat -The best weapon against the monster of the week: common sense. -Hiromu... T_T -Great Go-Buster... meh. 21: -Jin be careful with your jokes! -Between the exercise monster and the old Go-Busters this is getting stupid. -And J is talking with a banana, now that's comedy. :lol -How much do the Go-Busters spend on glasses? 22: -Escape -Worst disguises ever... -This episode was rather meh, the first one in the series that I didn't like. -Ohhhh, Escape Game, now I get it. 23: -So Jin recieves the damage that his avatar suffers. -And he was close to Youko's mother. That's a new side of him. -F#ck yeah Youko! Show em what you are made of. -----Protect the Tokyo Enetower!----- I liked it, the story was good, it felt "bigger" so to say than the regular missions, plus I can't complaint about an underwater mech, but it got me thinking. I understand that it's more profitable for Toei to release the Rider/Sentai movie together but I would love to see longer Sentai movies. There have been great Rider movies but that's beacuse they have enough time to tell a bigger story (imagine the W movie told in 30 minutes), and the Sentai movies have never had that chance, feels unfair. But overall a nice movie, way better than the Gokaiger one and overall a good chapter in the story of Go-Busters. |
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Zyuranger), Zeo, Turbo, & Lightspeed. All great shows.

It's easy to dislike the film. |
I just finished Gokaiger and have started on Sun Vulcan. Gokaiger had some real nicely done incidental music, in addition to the reworked themes from previous shows, do they ever release soundtracks of the scores for Sentai shows?

Kakuranger Episodes 36-38.
Finally caught up on the episodes that are recently subbed. I have somewhat of a huge and unplanned break on watching Super Sentai and now, I'm back. Ninja Sentai Kakuranger is actually well on its way on being one of my favorite Sentai series thanks to most of the Shinobi Scroll arc, especially the Jiraiya-centric two-parter, which also led to team's final battle against Prince Junior and Ninjaman's intro episode. I've already taking a liking to Ninjaman as a character and I'm probably one of the few people in the world that really likes his Power Rangers counterpart, Ninjor. |
Oh sweet, they finally subbed the Ninjaman intro episode? AWESOME!!!!

So I've been marathoning Dairanger with my partner lately and I gotta say I really do enjoy it. A lot of the stuff reminds me of Jetman, which is a good thing.
One complaint I have is how disjointed the episodes seems sometimes. Most characters have a "main plot" that their spotlight episodes revolve around, which are completely separate to the main plot and in those episodes, the major events of the previous episodes that the characters should be worrying about are ignored. Example: Ep. 37-39. Main Plot. Daijinyu arrives, Kou turns evil and goes missing, Dairanger and Gouma declare a ceasefire. Ep. 39: Ryou episode. Revolves around Ryou's continuing plot with Jin. Kou and Daijinryu are not even mentioned or alluded to and the Gouma are fighting the Dairanger as usual. Ep. 40: Shouji episode. Revolves around Shouji's continuing plot with the 3 Stooges. Daijinryu and Kou are once again unmentioned and the Gouma and Dairanger fight as usual. Ep 41: Daigo Episode. Revolves around Daigo's continuing plot with Kujaku and Gara. No mention of Daijinryu or Kou, fights as per usual however Gara gets seemingly important character development. Ep. 42: Back to main plot. Suddenly everyone remembers Daijinryu and the fact that their 6th Ranger has been brainwashed and missing for a few episodes and that there was a ceasefire between the two factions. Gara acts as she always has. I definitely enjoy all the different plots, it just annoys me a little that they're so separate to the main plot and things that should be important are ignored in episodes that aren't main plot episodes. |
I don't think it is disjointed, they just have multiple things going on at one time. It's not that they forgot about Dai Jin Ryu, but he was not there to be a threat at that point in time.
And technically, the ceasefire was still there, as in those episodes, Gorma was not attacking civilians, but the rangers themselves. And Jin is not really a Gorma, so his out of control moments were not the problem. Anyway, if you were a giant ass dragon, just left Earth, got home, sat down to watch some tv and the war started up again, are you going to leave once again for another long journey or relax for a bit? :-p |

Gobusters mission 24, this episode actually hit a cord with me because Hiromu's teacher reminds me of the teachers i had in High school. :D

Finished Dairanger last night.
I enjoyed the series a lot, I think it's probably one of my faves up there with Gokaiger, Shinkenger and Jetman but, man, that ending sucked. Like, majorly. Shadam's big plot-twist was pretty bizarre and out of nowhere and the fact that he turned out to be a puppet and we never found out why or anything was just annoying. Not to mention the whole "50 years after" thing wasn't as funny as it wanted to be and they should've left it with the solemn but hopeful scene of the team disbanding. Also, what the hell? Gouma and Dairanger will fight generation after generation forever? Won't this attract Daijinryu again!? That's a pretty important thing not to mention! Also, wtf happened to the Trio's metal forms that appeared in early episodes. They just stopped using them. So yeah, I loved the series, loved the team, loved the mecha, loved the villains but I really hated the last two episodes. Big disappointment. Now I'm onto Goseiger! It's OK. Way, way, way better then Megaforce (not hard though), but not really Wowing me yet. We're only on episode 4, so I hope I get gripped into it like I did Dairanger, which I also wasn't a fan of the first few episodes but ended up loving. |
DaiRanger is by far my favorite Sentai and nothing has come close to touching it (KakuRanger is halfway to it). However, I do agree that the 50 year jump was awkward, not because of it being 50 years, just because the cast looked so unconvincing in their make up. Daigo was way too over the top. You get used to it after the third viewing of the series though (I've watched DaiRanger as a whole about 13 times over the last 10 years). Nevertheless, when it reaches DaiRanger's 50th anniversary, they need to reshoot the final scenes. :-D
One of the things I love about the final battle though is the out of suit action. Ryo fought Shadam without transforming, which was down right awesome. I don't think any other series has ever done that. Not sure why you made Goseiger your next series after DaiRanger. I don't like Gosei at all, but watching it after Dai is pretty much just asking for the show to commit suicide. |
Hmm, I'll give Dairanger another chance, why not.
I'm still looking for that series to rival my Gekilove. |
