All the Wing MGs are technically Ver. Ka. What that basically means is that someone on the animating team for the movie follow-up to Wing (Hajime Katoki, I think his name was) redesigned the Wing Zero, Deathscythe Hell, Heavyarms Kai, Shelong, Sandrock, and Epyon for the movie. The new designs were lankier and more techy, and they went over so well with BanDai that they had him redesign suits from other shows. This became the Ver. Ka sub-line of Master Grade, with Gundams like the Victory, Unicorn, Crossbone, and (most recently) the Hi-Nu getting the Katoki treatment. This line included Gundams from Wing that were in the show but not the movie like the non-upgraded Wing, Deathscythe, and Heavyarms. These were called "EW ver." after the movie, even though they weren't in the movie, because... reasons? I think it had something do with the retconning of the old designs, but don't quote me on that.

And what does all of this have to do with your question? Well, Katoki wanted to make a redesign of the Wing Zero that looked closer to the show design (no angel wings, etc.). But there already was a kit called the Wing Zero EW (the feathery one), so he couldn't call it that. And he couldn't call it Wing Zero Ver. Ka, because all the other non-movie kits that already got released were called EW ver, and I guess consistency really mattered to either him or BanDai. So he called it the Wing Proto Zero, a technically accurate name since the Wing Zero of the movie was upgraded from the show's Wing Zero, which his new design closer resembled.

So that's why it's called Proto Zero, and it's not an old kit at all, it's either a 2013 or 2014 release.

Ah, I see. I do remember when watching the English dub of GW as a kid, when Endless Waltz happened it flashbacked to scenes and replaced the show designs with the "customs." Like I think when Heero destroyed that space station(?) with Wing Zero and almost died, and they replaced it with the angel-winged custom in EWin the flashback. (I always remembered because Wing Zero had an alt mode, Custom did not)

That greatly helped me in research. The Heavyarms I'm after I recognised immediately was not the normal Heavyarms from the show. (aside from having more missiles, the model holds it's gun instead of having a gun arm) I actually liked a lot of the Gundam Wing EW designs except Wing Zero itself, ironically. (well, I don't dislike it, I just liked Wing Zero better) I'm glad he wanted to make a more show-style Zero, since I think that's an even cooler design than the one from the show. So will they actually do all the Endless Waltz deisgns in MG, because it looks like the green dragon one (Nataku? Altron?) and Sandrock are missing, as well as double-gun green Heavyarms.

The's a MG Sandrock, but no sign of Altron or green Hevayarms, unfortunately.

Dat episode was indeed worth the 2 week wait to see it. Everything this week was over the top. Sekai summoning a phoenix, blowing up the moon (albeit a digital one), but everything was next level this week.

I lost it at Hosino's reaction to Sekai and that girl :lol

Damned good episode that was. Wilfred and Sekai's fight was just amazing. I will say though that I am not enjoying the fact that we're looking to get Reiji/Aila again. Just, no thank you, we don't need it. Anyway though, loved the episode. And dammit I need an HG of Wilfred's gunpla N O W.

You can add the Transient Gundam to the list of Gunpla that I want to see from this show, damn that was a sexy unit.

I read something about that online, but basically it's been 5 years since the airing of the broadcast TV station due to the contract, so they can use the suits now I believe.

Due to my MG Unicorn recent loose ankles, he finally took a plunge on my shelf, and came apart, because he was super glued to stay in Destroy mode, most of the parts are chipped off or super glued to another part, I'm trying to put him in Unicorn Mode but it's difficult with everything falling apart.

Great now my favorite mobile suit of all time (aside from build Burning) broke.

Wow, that sucks. I guess you could always display him as battle damaged? Maybe use a little paint to drive that home? And hey, you could always get the HG of it.

Wait, I thought HG(High Grade) was a step down from MG?

They are. But I'd say it's better then repaying ex amount he paid for the MG which could have the same issues as the previous. This way he saves money yet still gets a good representation of the suit.

Ah I see.

I've had a couple of my high grades fall from a table onto a wooden floor many times and they seem fine. So go with the HGs if they're as durable as mine.

Also, does anybody else feel that if something is wrong with a model kit, you can't complain about its issues because it might be your fault? i have this thought everytime the arms on one of my 00 HGs slides out when I'm posing it.

Depends on the part for me. On my fenice and Rinascita teir arms op off sometimes but i know its the fault of the ball joint than my own.

Gundam AGE is kind of a mess and makes it a bit hard to recommend to be honest...and this is coming from a guy that liked the show.

it is it's like they tried to have 3 full 40 episode series in 1. some of it works some does not. i did enjoy it though my self.


still think the Age-2 dark hound is the best suit ever from that series. really need to get the MG of that

Looks like HLJ got their stock of Red Amazing Warrior since I just received payment request, and also they have Lightning Gundam back in stock since I also got another payment request from them

I was able to fix my Unicorn, but at a price. He is now forever in Unicorn mode, I had to super glue a lot of things back together such as the whole head piece, his knee guards and his back waist section, a bit of psycho frame parts are seeable, but that's already due to the kits fault. I'll have to get another MG Unicorn down the line, but for now this will do.

All the gundams from Build Figters are modifications of ones from other series. In the show, they're actually models not mecha and kids battle with them Pokemon-style. In the toyline, they're heavy retools of previous kits. Or in some cases (like the fenice rinascita), new molds that resemble older kits that are then re-tooled into the gundams they were supposed to originally be.

Fenice is from Build Fighters, a sub series in which people use custom gunplas to fight against each other. Fenice is based off of the Wing Gundam.

In the Gundam Build Fighters(which you should totally watch because its really good), the character Ricardo Fellini uses a customized Wing Gundam known as Wing Gundam Fenice. Eventually he ends up upgrading it into the the WIng Gundam Fenice Rinascita which is what you have pictured. Both are also very good kits and shoud be bought if you even like the look of either of them

It's a custom meaning based on a prexisting suit/Kit but changed. In this case it's Ricardo Feelini, from thr Gundam spinoff Build Fighters
