I just couldn't take it. I love over the top stuff just as much as the next guy, but unlike everyone else, there is a certain extent I can take before it's just too much, which is what kept me from ever getting into TTGL.

Same here, but I want to have an opinion on it. I could direct you to a review of it. She said the same thing you said, but she did say that it's dumb, because of it's by far the most ludicrous thing that she's seen that wants you to take it seriously, as the series does have its serious, and dark moments, She also said (and I'm paraphrasing here): "Deus Ex Machina? You're swimming in it! and physics? Screw your physics!"
