You could be right, it could be because there is this expectation when it comes to Watanabe. However, he had more character development in his single 11 minute Animatrix episode than Space Dandy has had in 6 episodes. Space Dandy seems to be there for fanservice and nothing but fanservice (which is why I dropped Kill La Kill after 2 episodes). As for the Looney Tunes aspect you brought up, it just doesn't work for me with this show. Maybe if it was different characters or in a less serious animation style, it would. As is though, it just doesn't. |

It's easy comedy at the end of it. I freely admit the character types are shallow and the comedy misses just as much as it hits, but I don't think the episodic nature of the show is what hampers it. Did you watch at episode 5? If not I at least recommend trying that just see what the series is capable of. Quote:

Is episode 5 the one with the alien girl? If so, then yeah, that one did at least give us some great moments with Dandy, but then they were eradicated with the next episode that dealt with the Vest and Underwear dudes. I haven't had the time to watch any more and the next episode leaves On Demand on Friday, but because I'm busy getting ready to go to Tuscon, I won't have the time to watch it before it is gone. As such, I'll have to download that episode when I do have time to watch them. I really miss the days when On Demand would just have every episode of the current season until the next season premiered.

Caught a screening of Tiger & Bunny: The Rising yesterday.
Absolutely fantastic film. One of the best I've seen in a while. If you're a fan of the series, it's a must. |
Kill la Kill 13.
I know this show is silly, and doesn't care for anyone in the audience who doesn't keep up, but for the most part I have been able to keep up. But this episode was just a little too ridiculous for me, much like with Gamagoori's bondage powers I found the usual teetering, but nonetheless near perfect balance, stumbled once again. That and the animation SUCKED this episode. The saving grace really is the relationship between Senketsu and Ryuko. It's amazing how much emotion Toshihiko Seki and Ami Koshimizu put into their performances, given that one half of this duo is a bloody piece of clothing. |

Tiger & Bunny: The Rising - Anime movies based on a TV series can be a dangerous thing. When they are good, they tend to be really good. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, as "Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and "Fullmetal Alchemist: THe Stars of Milos" have shown they can feel out of place as if the writers did not even know the characters they were writing. This can be both frustrating and annoying to fans of that respective series. Thankfully, The Rising fits into the former as it really does feel like an episode of the TV show. It takes place after the series, so make sure you have seen the finale before even watching this or you will have spoiled yourself, and it keeps in tone everything that was great about the show. The characters are still doing their normal tropes while also showing that they have grown a bit. The characters do have quite a bit of development here, but it is Fire Emblem that easily steals the show when it comes to growth, as we get a great insight upon his character and what his life style choices did to him. This was an unexpected turn of events and not something I would think a movie that acts as a continuation of a show would do. Golden Ryan is essentially the Booster Gold of the movie, but he does it in such a way that he is a likable character. Time has advanced and you do see characters grown up a bit, and that not everything was as happy go lucky as it looked when the screen faded to black after the epilogue to the series. The story is fun, it has great action, loads of comedy, but again, it retains the spirit and dignity of the show and is for anyone looking to enjoy more "Tiger & Bunny." If you were a fan of the series, you will definitely enjoy this. If you did not like the series, or only slightly tolerated it, there is nothing here that will change your mind. I give "The Rising" an 8/10 stars.

Well, I'm caught up with Kill La Kill. Now I have to wait like everyone else for the next episode.

Everybody is watching Kil La Kill and I'm just sitting here like "Whadda I watch next?" :lol

Mobile Suit Gundam compilation movie 1.
So this is the fabled Universal Century huh? I'm not impressed quite yet. LOL. But seriously though, I kinda like series so far. Granted, the story is super slowly paced, but it was '79/'81 when this movie was made came and it was setting up the whole Gundam thing for future series. Modern shows and movies have defiantly upped the pacing a lot but this is fine as it is. I kinda like Amuro Ray? I say that with a question mark because while he's pretty good at piloting this Gundam I'm not quite sure why I should like him from a character aspect. I think the only reason why I have any attachment to him outside of me by default having to like Gundam pilots is that he's around my age and he has a cute girlfriend/childhood friend. Fraw Bow is the obligatory female supporting character to the main hero that always appears in the Japanese action show meta franchises and she's.... fine. She contributes to the ship, helps Amuro out, she is loving and accepting, sort of standard stuff for that type of character. What I really find different is how much time they spend on deck with the main crew of the white base.Hell, Amuro isn't even present at most of these scenes and its strong unique characters for this area that take the spotlight. Really gives it a lot more of a Star Trek vibe. I'm not too keen on this Char guy. He hasn't done too much and his claim to fame so far is getting Amuro while he was still inexperienced. I understand from a plot point of view how having this rival guy is such an easy way to create an arc and give reasons for battle and drama, but this is the guy that started it all? He'd better kick some ass next time I see him. I thought this movie was going to look horrible from an animation standpoint, but it doesn't look half bad. I've actually grown to like the Guntank and Guncannon. I still don't like the RX-78 Gundam design though. However, they really do emphasize how much of a beast this thing is by pointing out shocking new features and how powerful it is. I like the action during fight scenes. I mean its not super fast action but theres enough happening to satisfy my taste. I'm fine with the small scale battles since they're done so well and so tense. |
Kill la Kill 14.
Well that was silly, I think this shows charms are running out for me a little. I dunno, the fact that NONE of the other schools even put up a fight kinda summed up all the problems in this show. The complete lack of tangible threats, makes this show really kinda boring at times. I get the sliding scale is just as problematic in otherways but this isn't a long show, but out of the 14 episodes I've watched pretty much all of the crucial battles have been rubbish, and the more fillerly ones have been much more entertaining. This episode also had some of the cheapest animation of the whole series. Which obviously didn't help. |
HeartCatch Precure episode 5:
It was alright. It seems to be following the standard Sentai MOTW formula. I know it's pretty early on, but would it kill these two to follow the person whose Heart Flower is wilting? Especially when Chypre said "Hey, his Heart Flower isn't looking too well"? It would save these two a lot of trouble. Anyway, since I'm watching this in HD now...I'm noticing how rough the backgrounds look. I don't know if this is and intentional design choice, or if there wasn't enough money in the animation budget to refine them. Also, Cobraja is kind of funny. He's also voiced by the same guy who voiced Walz Gill, which is cool. :lol |

Cobraja is awesome, and all the stuff he forces the mooks to do is simply hilarious. :lol |
So while I wait for the next episode of Kill La Kill, I shall be watching Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

The only reason I stopped watching it is I caught up the show and I'm really impatient with weekly anime. If it's now finished I might grab a batch torrent and smash it out. |

I would just buy it, but I tend to wait until it's released in a single, budgeted collection. A single bluray volume is like thirty poundsm and that is ridiculous.

Gundam Comiplation movie 2
One of the best parts about Gundam is seeing people breakdown and come to realizations. And this movie had 2 epic ones, one most notably being Amuro. I like Amuro's character development a lot more in this movie as we meet his mother and see the conflicting ideals both of his parents trying to raise him have and Amuro's desires surprising his mom. So the White Base is still roaming around earth doing as the Federation commands. it was actually pretty nice to see some character development from the other pilots. Along with some different mobile suits that aren't Zakus. Blue Zaku dude wasn't even a threatening villain. He was just "GRRRR Garma revenge!" He sorta died with a suicide attack after talking to miss blonde royal. Char doesn't even show up until halfway through the movie. Plot's going slightly faster, although I'm not sure if that is because I'm more invested. They mention Newtypes a bit more but I'm not quite sure I can tell what makes them different. Gundam compilation movie 3 Damn, they really raised the bar, they're back in space and we get a more fleshed out view of Zeon and..... the space Nazi comparison is quite obvious. Not that I don't mind the more defined morality with this joke of a government, but they took this mysterious opposing side that you could understand their view with and turned them into Newtype purists. I'M A FIRIN' MY LASAR! Oh wait, that actually killed the Zeon leader and half the Federation forces. Movie's over Zeon wins... wait.... This movie REALLY focuses on Newtypes and actually show their abilities. Lalah was such a weird character because Amuro had a strong relationship with her because.. she's a newtype? I'm not quite sure on that but okay. And hey Char knows her and loves her, aw how cute..... ANNNNND she's dead. Her relationship with both Amuro and Char caused them to fight over their ideals. Actually this is what the Char and Amuro "rivalry" needed to actually become pretty epic towards the end of the movie. I was uninterested in Char until this plot point and now i am satisfied with the resolution. So.... did Lalah awaken Amuro's abilities to psychically communicate with others? Or did the writers just pull it out of thier ass in order to make it so Amuro saves everybody while he was getting to his ship? Ah, who cares? The war is over! Sex for everybody when they get home! Overall, I like this movie trilogy. I think that they are great movies, but if you're just in it for the giant robots, think again buddy. the mobile suit battles are the least interesting parts of these movies as the tragedy of war and military discipline take center stage. Time to watch some Zeta movies next. |
so i haved now watched 4 hole season of Classic Dragon ball Subbed. and i can say this I really connect with the japanese cast with this show more then i did with dub the emotion behind each character in the japanese dub i can feel and hear at the same time. i never had that with the dub

HeartCatch Precure episode 7: He's really a girl, isn't he? ... ... I knew it! Anyway, it was pretty good. The Student Council president was probably the most interesting minor character thus far. It seems like the girl who dresses and acts like a boy for an important reason is common in Japanese fiction. We have Naoto from Persona 4 who did it to carry on her family's detective legacy, and then the Student Council president who did it here because she had to inherit her family's dojo after her older brother got sick. She seems like she'd make a good Precure, what with already knowing how to fight and all, that and she's been given screentime in the past. |

Is anyone else watching Nobnuaga the fool?
we're slowly starting to get more mechs in the show. The latest one to show up is basically a mechanized Son Goku. and I don't mean Goku as In dragon ball I mean Goku as in the Monkey King. |
Forgot to mention that I finished Panty & Stocking last night. Those last three episodes were freaking insane. Hilarious, but insane. It is also the first show in a while to leave me not screaming at the screen for its ending even though it was a cliff hanger. Either it is because I'm too stunned in disbelief or it is the fact that it is making a mockery of those types of endings, but I enjoyed it. The best episode of the series is still the Transformers one.

Zeta Gundam: New Translation: Heir to the stars
Damn that's a long ass title. The first 20 minutes of this movie has some insane pacing. Oh, hey here's our protagonist Kamille, and he's now in a Gundam with Char, and now his mom's dead, and his dad's in a mobile suit and he's dead too and Kamille's dad was in a love affair..... wait WHAT? I swear these first 20 minutes had such a fast pace that I was only figured out what was going on in the last scene in the middle of the current scene. The assault on Jaburo had a lot better pacing though with Bright coming back in another white base. I don't mind the Titans as villains but the movie seemed really terrible at explaining them. From what I understood before looking it up on the wiki, the Titans were the Earth Federation that had some Zeon ideas, gone rogue. They eliminate 3 "major" villains during this movie but I never felt anything for them as they didn't have any development. Kamille is interesting but he doesn't have any development, let alone establishing his character. He's pretty much the Newtype that has a tendency to hurt anyone that pisses him off, but more in a childish way. And he has a cute girlfriend. I like the design of the Mark II Gundam a hell of a lot more then the original, as its bulk and sleek panel designs along with its coloring make its black and white pop out more. Rather then having the bland "American" color scheme of the original. The use and transition to new footage is super weird. I couldn't tell the transition happened in the original movies because the series and movies were made so close together. Since Zeta came out in 1985 and this movie came out in 2005, the transition is a lot more obvious. Along with the use of new footage being interspersed randomly at points. For example, there's a scene where Char is talking to a guy in a control room and its new fooatge. Char walks out the door and it switches to original Zeta footage as he's talking with Kamille. Then, they both walk down a hallway and its new footage again! |
HeartCatch Precure episode 8:
It was pretty good. I love the strong sense of continuity this show has. It's easily one of HeartCatch's strongest points. However one thing does bother me, and that's the stock footage. Tsubomi and Erika are all angry and serious, then their transformation stock footage is all happy. Surely, they could've animated a serious one as well. ANyway, it's nice to see some actual powers. Also, Erika said they're in middle school...but they're 14, I thought they were high school freshmen...in fact I could've sworn they said that in, like episode 2. I also REALLY wish I didn't go on the Precure wiki now, because now I know that Yuri isn't dead...yes I kind of knew that already, but still. She shows up in a scene, and if you didn't know that she's alive, or didn't know Cure Moonlight's true identity, then that's some really nice subtle foreshadowing. So, word of the wise...don't go on wikis, lest you be spoiled on a character's true identity. Oh, and Cobraja was hilarious in his scene. :lol Episode 9: Hey! Some backstory on Tsubomi and her family! I'll admit, I actually felt pretty sad when she saw the birds, and it reminded her that her parents were never around. Ok, I like Cobraja. He reminds me of Knock Out from Transformers: Prime. Also, I really wish they didn't have the spinning flower at the end of the finisher. It really takes away from the impact of the explosion. It was pretty good, and oh snizzity snap, son! Dark Precure shows up in the next episode! |
I did not care for the Zeta movies. In fact, the worst part was, I was the movies before the tv show. I hated the movies so much that I went out and bought the TV version just so I could understand what the hell was going on.

Kill la Kill 15. Didn't Ryuuko start without that glove? That wasn't a part of Senketsu originally right, so why is it such a big deal she gets it back?
After so many of the major battles in this series have been surprisingly boring, it's so refreshing that whenever Satsuki and Ryuuko clash the budget seems to ramp up and we actually get a satisfying clash of super powered clothing. This episode, was no different. The new designs for Satsuki's generals are gorgeous as well, but as I've expressed before I just don't find them particularly interesting. Ryuuko is like my favourite anime protagonist ever, definitely got a major crush going on over here~ But I really do like how Ryuuko is balanced by someone else who is just also as strong and badass. That mind sound like a weird comment, but I notice a LOT in anime that the protagonist embodies raw power and so they always try and balance them with a villain who embodies something different. But it creates much more interesting viewing to see two characters clash, who are just as good on equal things. As ever though, the careful balance in this show seems to be teetering closer and closer to fully collapsing in on itself. I dunno, the fact this arc tried to widen the story to the whole world highlighted just how silly this EXTREMELY silly show is. The school city at least functioned as its own pocket universe, with its own reality, so I could buy into that but this was all very silly, with Satsuki and her family advancing, trying to takeover the world with clothing (?!) and destroying anything in their way. It certainly didn't help that a lot of this episode was humourless. About the only real gag in this episode was "Nudist Beach? That is a stupid name!" YEAH BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND HERE ISN'T?! I really wanted to get invested in it, the concept of fear vs money, the epic battle between sword wielding badass chicks on the backdrop of a burning city but we've lurched from comedy into all out shounen melodrama without any real context, build up or proper transition. The tones clash harder in this show than the swords do, and maybe that is part of the charm, but all I've got is whiplash. |

So Monkey gets his own mech? Cool. Quote:
Away from the wiki you moron! Though all things considered that was a minor one. Cobraja is simply awesome. :lol |
