Agito excluding movie/special riders (G4, G3 Mild) and the Metal Hero kitbash suit can be fit into 2 sets provided Agito Trinity isn’t given an individual release, Same with Kiva to be honest
|
If the design team can figure out how to make the skirt not look like a giant flap, I think Wizard would work really well. His form changes are pretty modular that they could be done the same way as the Kuuga figures: buck body + chest/helmet

The Twitter Candy Toy account revealed the next two Premium Bandai Shodo-XX sets and it's Shin Kamen Rider. After the Black Sun sets, I think we saw this coming. This is probably tomorrow's revel for Shodo in the blog.
https://twitter.com/candytoy_c/statu...87677378379776 First set is Rider 1 with trench coat and bike. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679111470 Second set is Rider 2 with trench coat and his bike. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679111470 |
I'm very pleasantly surprised they did the coats! From the looks of things it works basically like an arm swap, but I'm still very impressed at this scale.
What I'm not impressed about is the Premium Bandai tag... like, this is a super high profile movie that's far more relevant and in the public eye than anything SHODO is covering or could cover. Same for BLACK SUN, in fact. Surely both of these merited some sort of special extra retail release? |
Candy toy Twitter account tweeted out an hour early. Link to the blog in the tweet isn't live yet, but the tweet's text does confirm that the blog tonight is about the Shodo-XX Shin Kamen Rider sets from last night and SO-DO Chronicle Fourze. Blog should go live around 8:30 EST.

And it's live now
https://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/20230319_rider https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679185947 I wasn't expecting Final Forms in wave 1. That's...interesting... |
I guess this answers how they'll be tackling series with a lot of forms/attachments: they just won't? I think we can at least expect to see this treatment for Drive and Ghost; just giving us the base and final forms in one wave if possible.
Bit let down, if I'm honest. It's not like I was totally wanting a new figure of Elek States or anything, but the cool thing about SO-DO CHRONICLE was how it strived for as much completionism as reasonably possible, and that just seems to have ended now? I'm suddenly not as excited about the prospect of an Agito line as I was yesterday |

Next week, the Geats fall out.
https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679191877 Also in Shin Kamen Rider, Rider 2 is taller than Rider 1 and Shodo went out of their way to make that accurate by making two completely different molds. I think that's neat. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679192500 |
Those Meteor planetary option parts set a new precedent for how far Bandai is willing to take sticker jobs. The ultimate curved surface, just a completely stickered sphere. Gunpla builders can never complain ever again.
|
Quote:
I have trouble putting the chrome sticker on the shodo super boots and gloves. I can only imagine trying to sticker a globe. |
The planets are goofy but I love that they're attempted at all. They're maybe the main thing I'll try and track down from this set?
|
Those SHODO Shin riders look great. Probably gonna pick up both once a site has them available
Chronicle Fourze sure is a surprise, and even more surprising is the selection in the first wave. Hopefully they don't lock Nadeshiko behind a PB release |
I will defend those stickers only slightly in that those are prototype stickers and the final product should look better than those pictures...still looks like a complete nightmare to sticker regardless. And good luck even considering painting those yourself.
Speaking of bad times with stickers, I got ID5 in this week and Command has some really bad ones, but it's not entirely the stickers' fault. These are the butt wings for Cannon Jet. https://i.imgur.com/LZAccwX.jpg They are made in orange PVC and completely covered in stickers wrapping around the parts. The wings being flat planks made of PVC is the problem here because as you are wrapping the stickers around the wings, they heat up and start to bend. Not only does to make it nearly impossible to get the stickers on correctly, but also causes them to start peeling the moment the wings take their proper shape again. Now, I don't think stickers on PVC should never be done, I have plenty that are perfectly fine. I also don't think wrap around stickers are the worst thing either. Again, I have plenty of good ones. It's combining all of this together that's making the perfect storm of sticker hell. Better off painting these parts if you can. |
The SO-DO Fourze news last night came with a July release date, but just now they delayed it and a bunch of other stuff to September.

The absolute worst sticker I've ever seen from a Bandai kit is easily the Zyuogher Minipla Cube Lion.
I'll always go a little easier on stickers that go on places that are easily paintable, but the Cube Lion sticker is a huge, flat sticker that goes over a grid. Painting is not an option at all, meanwhile the sticker itself is sticking to such little surface area that peeling is immediate. Let's say you get the thing on perfectly with no issues, well because its hollow beneath that sticker, its very easy to puncture the surface or at the very least, leave impressions in the face of the sticker. To top it all off, the color matching of the sticker is way off. https://i.imgur.com/6bHlXMb.png It's such a shame too, because honestly the Zyu-Oh King minipla is very good and is way better than the literal brick that is the DX version. This sticker haunts me to this day. |
Wow! That zyuohger sticker is incredible! I just consider myself lucky I never had to deal with something like that.

After a lot of fuss on twitter among japanese about future of sodo 2 weeks ago, i am glad they show sodo chronicle fourze, with cosmic there i bet next wave will be PB 3 forms for series and a PB set for movie forms(fusion/rocket) + nadesiko
Ichigo and Nigo bundled with bikes :( they are cool but now i wonder how will shin ichigo will be ever released .... Quote:

Huh, SoDo Chronicle Fourze jumping right to the base pair, and then the final forms? Interesting choice, kinda disappointing, even if it's just becuase no Nadeshiko while literally everything from Double and Gaim is floating around. Guess we might see a PB set for Elek/Fire/Magnet at some point, probably with some extra modules?

Well, I don't wanna catastrophise or anything, but... I think we just hit the worst case scenario.
Boost MKII, Lazer Boost and Ziin are all to release in SO-DO... as a Premium Bandai set for 7500 Yen. As in, the most currently relevant forms both through the show and in what's on store shelves as DX toys. SO-DO as we know it might just be done. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FsGzy6Ka...g&name=900x900 |
Oh yeah, that's pretty bad. Must've been some serious delays cause I can't imagine anyone in the business division wanting to lock the mass release suits behind such a big paywall.
|
I am deeply worried. I'm hoping that this set plus the live/evil/demons set were suppose to be ID6 but they got cancelled due to delays and that this is just them trying to play catch up. I'm probably wrong, but I'm trying to stay hopeful here. No matter what happens I do hope we can hear from G-San on all this.
|
I guess from now on forwards, this how will so-do released, first 2-3 volumes will be retail and the rest will be premium just like chronicle

Bicycle! Bicycle! Bicycle!
I want to ride my bicycle! Bicycle! Bicycle! I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1679795571 Dairanger troopers are coming: https://bandaicandy.hateblo.jp/entry/20230326_sentai |
So where are these types of toys usually purchased? I was under the impression that they were available at grocery stores and konbini, but I didn't see a single one while in Japan - only a couple of older ones at shops in Akihabara. Where are candy toys usually sold?
|
Quote:
I was in Japan last year when ID1 was released and found a fresh case the day of release. It was almost empty when I came back to the aisle |
They have them in Don Quijote and places like that.
There are also some stores that specialize in used Gashapon and Candy toys like BOOKOFF and Suruga-ya. |

So I take it that my experience is out of the ordinary, then. |
I haven’t bought Sodo in a while, but that is definitely worrying. Hopefully Sodo doesn’t go the way of the dodo.

Still, I thought it was weird, because I saw a bunch of Ex-Aid and Kyuranger toys at various stores when I studied abroad 6 years ago. I bought a minipla piece at a 7-11. |

Well thriving yes, but Bandai candy toys division ruined it, the RATIO are so bad... we can see 2 weeks ago that seeker or geats powered are the extras instead of twin command!!!!!!!!
Those Feat sodo are thrown away on sale for like 100 yen as soon as possible, as we can usually see on twitter posted by Japanese collectors. My friend visit japan last month when i ask picture of candy toys on shelf well there are lots of eva frame,g-frame also sodo and shodo but they are the unwanted one .... there are like 5 pairs of revolve on punk jack .... and couple nago fever form I also seen somewhere someone posted about the asia distribution ver of ID 3 have the extra of revolve on version(armor on legs) of nago or punk jack instead of their body armo one(will posted here once i can find the picture again) edit : found the one with extra nago revolve on https://i.ibb.co/tLgRjFG/326560900-1...16586988-n.jpg ---------------------------- https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bb0accb13d.jpg took me 3 months to find this DX |
Man, yeah, the exclusive does not look good. I figured something was wrong when the frequency of Geats blog posts dropped so dramatically. That and no more SODO Geats preorders got solicited.
If the line resumes, I'm guessing they'll be doing drastically fewer same-character-slightly-different releases. |
Yeah the Geats SODO seem like bad planning or something. All the stores I see SODO at are flooded with PunkJacks and Na-Go forms.
|
Quote:
I'm guessing the Ziin stuff is going to be exclusives because we may well have seen the last of Ziin's Rider form in the show, and Boost II/Laser is about to be replaced by the final form for Geats. They may just skip straight to final forms/things they have good reason to believe might sell. I wonder if the shelf-warming PunkJacks might sell if they bring him - or at least the bear helmets - back to the show. I also wonder if the blank-eyed versions of figures are less appealing to kids. |
