Some anime I finished recently.
Angel Densetsu - I remember hearing about Angel Densetsu a while back and I never got the chance to watch it. Since it's only two episodes, I thought it was not bad. I dig the concept of kind and naive boy with the heart of an angel, but the sinister looks of a devil. This anime has a lot of great funny moments and I found myself laughing hard pretty hard at times. Seiichirou Kitano is a nice main character and seeing other people's reactions around him is very funny to see. The animation is decent, but it could have look a bit better at times. I do wish it was longer since I feel like they could have done more with the story. Not to mention the other cast of characters are pretty forgettable. Overall, Angel Densetsu is a nice short anime. This anime was surprisingly funny, but it could have been better. Rating: 7/10 Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor - I finally watch this anime from start to finish for the first time and I love it. Everything about this anime was awesome. Great characters, good animation, great writing and great music. I love the suspense that this anime had because it kept me at the edge of my seat for every episode after episode 2. Each episode really wanted to see what happen next and see what would happen to the characters. Kaiji is a great main character and I felt really attach to him for every thing that he went through. The supporting cast and the villains are really great too. Yukio Tonegawa is a fun character and Kazuya Hyodo is really dark & sick. I love these types of villains. The show can be pretty deep at times too with its social commentary on the rich screwing over the poor, the inner greed of humans and human survival instincts. Not to mention the show got pretty violent later on and I surprise by the ending too The animation is great too and still looks good even a decade later. The art style is a unique art style and I like it a lot. The artist of the series has his own style and he is able to pull it off very well. The music is awesome too and I love the intro theme song. Overall, Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor was fantastic and I love every moment of it. I admit that the first two episodes had a slow start, but everything else about it is great. I feel bad that I didn't watch this anime until a decade later. I was 16 in 2007 when this show aired and I wish I saw it when it came out (I probably would have like it). If you're a fan of darker anime with almost no humor like Monster, I highly recommended this anime. I will put this on my Top 10 favorite anime and I can't wait to watch Season Two soon. Rating: 9/10 I plan to finish up Ajin: Season Two and later I'll marathon the Bubblegum Crisis series this month for the 30th anniversary. I still plan to watch the rest of Record of Lodoss War and Noragami Aragoto. |
Finished season 1 of JoJo a bit ago. Honestly, would probably be lying if I said I really enjoyed it that much. It's not so much that it's bad, just wasn't really my thing.
Do think I'm willing to watch through Stardust Crusaders before deciding if I want to continue with the franchise, at least. I will have to see. |
been watching super
gal thanks to crunchyroll having bother subb and dubb on there site and been watching dub and i dunno im just finding the dub funny for some reason is due to how bad it is or is it the way the show pertrayed i dunno |
I just finished Yuri!!! On ICE and well it was alright. I honesty don't get the hype for it. At the end it was just meh though it was not boring or awful but it wasn't great either.

Well, got recommended Yuri On Ice! by a friend, decided to check it out. I went into it thinking it would be boring and pointless. Two episodes in, and I want more. I have no idea what it is (subliminals maybe), but I'm oddly invested in this guy and his skating dreams.

Oh you will probably like this one guy who's dancing theme was heart broken. His first dance is just so funny.
|
Oh my god, I am so tired of hearing about Yuri on Ice.
Four of my friends got my g/f to watch it and now that is all I ever hear about. :lol |
I am so sorry you have my sympathy. So why does she like it so much besides the manservice? Is she the kind that likes to make yaoi fanfics?

However, she also loves apparentely how well written and realistic the story is and she says it feels different from your normal yaoi series. I still find it funny that the series is called Yuri but is a yaoi. |
Bubblegum Crisis (OVA) - Bubblegum Crisis is one of my favorite anime series and this year is the 30th anniversary. So I decided to marathon the franchise for the 30th anniversary since I haven't seen the original in well over a decade. I'm glad that I rewatch it because I think it holds up pretty well.
The animation is fantastic and still looks pretty good today. The detail on the mechanical monsters and Mega Tokyo are very well done. The setting of Mega Tokyo feels dark and futuristic which captures the mood of the anime. The fight choreography was great because it made all of the fight scenes look fantastic. The music is great too and I love all the tracks in this anime. I still have the music stuck inside my head after many years later and I can remember nearly all the lyrics to Hurricane when I re-watch the first episode. The dub is alright because the voice acting was wooden at times. I do think they did a good job on staying true to the Japanese scripts unlike most dubs at the time. However I would recommended to watch it in subbed. What made Bubblegum Crisis great to me was the dynamic between all the main characters. The Knight Sabers have great personalities to them in my opinion and it's hard for me to pick a favorite on which main character that I like the most. The supporting cast could have been better, but I did enjoy Leon. I really like the personally of his character. The GENOM Corporation was pretty interesting, but I felt like we could have learn more about them. The anime also had a good social commentary on the relationship between man and machine though. Maybe not as deep as Ghost in the Shell, but I still thought they handle it pretty well. I admit the ending did kinda suck, but they never finish the last 5 episodes. Overall, Bubblegum Crisis is very entertaining to watch from start to finish. This anime is not perfect, but you do get cool main characters, great action, awesome music and nice animation. If this anime had a proper conclusion, I would rate it higher. It was nice re-watching it again. I would recommended Bubblegum Crisis to old school anime fans, sci-fi fans and even Toku Henshin heroes fans as well. Grade: 8/10 I plan to re-watch A.D Police (1990 OVA) this weekend since I haven't seen it in a very long time. I also plan to watch Bubblegum Crash which is the only Bubblegum Crisis title that I never saw growing up. I also will watch Scramble Wars too. |
