Also, I highly recommend Space Patrol Luluco, it's from Studio TRIGGER and there's an episode of KLK and LWA in there lol. The anime is watchable in an hour |
I picked up "My Hero Academia" as well, watched season 1 last Sunday and the available season 2 episodes today.
I must say I quite enjoy this. Characters are interesting, comedy is good and the action is cool. I don’t think I could call it quite unique in what it does but it's too much fun for that to be a huge negative in my opinion. However I do think about how the show would've looked like if Midoriya became a Batman-kinda hero, someone who can stand his own among human gods simply because of his wits and strength. In fact that was my biggest gripe with the show early on. He gets superpowers handed over and then the issue of him being a minority of a normal human in a society of super-people is basically gone. But then I thought about it for a while and I think All Might's right, in some situations you've got to be realistic. Someone without superpowers could not hold up in this world if he decides to fight against all these powers. It's actually kind of a throwaway line, but him saying that becoming a policeman instead is actually solid advice. That also made me realize how fun a show about a policeman (or woman) in this world could be. And I also realized how Midoriya works for his dreams, it’s not the powers which give him a perspective or a dream, he always had it. He was just given a chance to prove that he has what it takes. And he still uses his own strength and will, I mean he’s still in a phase where he can’t control his powers properly so he has to rely on his own talents more often than not anyways. And I quite like how he builds himself up. To be honest my favorite moments in this show are when he succeeds in dire situations. I guess that’s what people like seeing anyways, right? Someone who proves himself against the odds and works for his successes, and then seeing this work pay off big time. Anyways, this is one of the very few anime I'm watching these days so I hope it continues to be successful. Would be cool if they could slowly but surely adapt the source material. I have no problem with just buying all the manga books if the show stops but I love the visuals, the voice actors and the energy behind it so I would hate to see it disappear in an unfinished state. Lastly, a question to you guys: Who are your favorite heroes so far? Both rookies and pro's. In the rookie department it's kinda hard since there are so many likable characters but I think I have to choose Momo. I like her style and her power is one I'd like to have myself. Creation is just so damn useful. But it has its price since you need to understand how something works on a cellular level before you can materialize it. I guess I like her because she reminds me of the alchemists from Full Metal Alchemist? That’s probably it. With the pro's it's not that much easier, but we've got a little bit less characters to choose from. I like Mic the most honestly. I love these crazy DJ-type characters and sound/shockwaves are so damn strong. Loved the animation when he entered the fight at the end of season 1 a lot too, the "YEAH!"-effect within the wave looked so damn cool. But of course All Might is fantastic in all of his forms, and Eraser Head is badass too, but for personal favorites I’d go with Present Mic. |

...Is what I would say if it wasn't for the spinoff manga called My Hero Academia ILLEGALS which has a Quirkless hero, it's darker and about vigilanties from what I hear. Maybe that'd help Favourite characters are Deku, Iiya and Tsu |
I enjoy My Hero Academia Season 1 despite some of the problems that I had with it. I will watch Season 2 when it is done airing. Since it is Spring Break for me, I have more time to watch anime that I didn't get the chance to finish yet. I will should try to finish Ajin Season 2 soon since it is one of my favorite series of this modern generation of anime & manga.

New season's in full swing. Still not picked up anything new, but the sequels I've started haven't been that bad.
Boruto's exactly what you'd think. Probably won't even bother to go into that since it seems can't mention Naruto here without just endless replies of "it sucks" so that's cool. But yeah, not worth checking out if you didn't already care for the original. Berserk was alright. I think the animation might have improved from the first season, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Everyone's faces in particular are still just too stoic and bland. The first episode was kind of a disappointment - the encounter I'd been looking forward to amounted to nothing. But the second had some backstory I'd really been wanting and reunited the party so we can really start moving forward. Kind of know enough about Guts at this point, so want to see more of the other characters. Attack on Titan's been alright, but the hype is definitely gone so my interest is suffering some (plus being caught up on the manga now, nothing's new so not as exciting compared to when I watched first before reading). It's still good IMO, just not as good as I once felt. Plus the arc this season is covering isn't that strong anyways until the end. Sure as hell wish there were going to be more episodes though. |
Favorited would be Tsu for the frog theme and for some reason I find cute. Least favorite is easily the perv with the ball power he just annoys me.
One good series I do recommend is Overlord, art and music is nice and enjoyable so far. Quote:

Silent Mobius: The Motion Picture - It has been about 9 or 8 years since I've seen this movie, so I decided to re-watch it. Silent Mobius is one of my favorite franchises growing up and the movie holds up very well.
The art style and animation are top-notch as well as the story. The animation is very well detail and all the characters designs are very nicely done. All of the monsters look really awesome in my opinion and I miss when anime from the past had really awesome monster designs. The setting of Tokyo feels dark and futuristic which captures the mood of the anime. There is a really nice mix of supernatural and sci-fi mix into Silent Mobius that they did a fantastic job on creating the atmosphere for the anime. Silent Mobius and older anime like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Gunbuster, Wings of Honneamise, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, Perfect Blue, Wicked City, and several others still have animation that still looks great even many decades later. The story is very well done because the story of demons invading a Blade Runner type of city and having the Tokyo Police in charge of supernatural activity is so awesome. Katsumi Liqueur is a great main character and her character development was very nicely done too. I think they did a great job on handling her character development after she gets over the shock of seeing her mother destroyed by a demon. The supporting cast could have been better and the story is bit hard to follow at first, but they still had a great job on telling a story in 55 minutes. They help create a really awesome world with cool characters, great action and a dark futuristic atmosphere to draw us in the world of Silent Mobius. I feel like Silent Mobius was inspired by the Bubblegum Crisis series since they are both set in the a futuristic world with a female cast fighting monsters. The music is great too and the re-dub from Ocean Group is also great too. I never seen the original Streamline dub, but I do like the Ocean dub pretty well. The Japanese version is also fantastic too. Silent Mobius: The Motion Picture is still a great supernatural cyberpunk film with great animation, great music, cool characters and a kick ass story. It is a shame that the series has fade into obscurity over the years and this is a anime film that you should watch more than once. This movie is not perfect, but Silent Mobius: The Motion Picture has a lot to offer. I would recommend this anime if you like the Bubblegum Crisis series, demon invasion stories or old school anime titles. Grade: 8/10 |
