Yeah, Madoka may have kickstarted the trend of dark and edgy magical girls, but they really missed the point that Madoka is still ultimately a show about hope and not just being edgy for the sake of being edgy.

Again, it's not even that it invented the trend, those themes have always been part of the genre. It was just the one that both stuck and brought them to the forefront.

It's a tragic show, not a miserable one. None of the deaths or events are downplayed or treated with disdain; just unfortunate conclusions to bad decisions.

I saw Sailor Moon Super The Live yesterday and it was awesome. It felt like a live action tokusatsu idol performance and I was so there for it, with tons of cool light effects and great music.
