I believe it was someone adding English subs to Taiga, since I distinctly remember watching it as it aired on the Official Tsuburaya Channel.
I'm agreed with Kiwami that it was a bit hard and a bit frustrating to keep up with R/B since it was down to only one sub group, Color Time Subs, who had already been busy with other projects at the time, though I'm afraid I don't know what those may have been. Nothing against them or anything, but I can indeed feel it awkward to wait when Taiga was revealed by the time it was finished. I still really enjoyed it regardless. |
I guess this is a really big benefit of me coming in just before Z -- the subs were a bit hard to find at first, but R/B was fully complete right there ready for me to watch! It definitely seems like it was one of the biggest victims at first of Subgroups deciding not to do current media to support official releases.

It really was a bummer that R/B kind of fell through the cracks for a bit. I made a whole thread for that show right away because I assumed it was getting the same treatment X and Orb and Geed had gotten. Three years in a row! We had a good thing going!
And thankfully, we have a good thing going again now, but yeah, it was pretty rough for a bit there, which unfortunately really obscured just how absolutely amazing R/B is for a lot of people. It's nice to see people really starting to come around on it, because I loved it a lot myself right away, and I find that, to this day, it's one of the New Generation shows I find sticks with me the strongest. From its heartwarming family drama, to all the times I randomly think of the "What are these?! Cat ears?!" gag, it's a show that's somehow ended up holding a place in my heart that might even be deeper than other Ultra shows I thought I liked more than it. R/B is really one of a kind as far as this franchise goes, and I think that unique flavor will only continue to stand out in a good way as time goes on. |
I decided to watch trigger a bit. I've literally in the first minute of the first episode, but it reminded me of something I like about Ultraman. That there are so many ultra-people. There are lots of new ones, but there are also ones who died defending worlds and trying to make the universe better. There lights never truly go out though and that's great.

That's nice to hear! Imagine Zero's surprise when he sees someone he previously merged with, or at least someone who resembles them.

Perfect excuse to bring in Geed yet again :D

more Geed is always appreciated

I’m slowly but surely making my way through Return of Ultraman.

Nobody told me Taiga would be so dark in literally the first five episodes.
2) Hiroyuki's childhood pet/friend Chibisuke gets aliennapped while he's a child and then he has to witness Tregear kill it while taking a shot meant for Taiga. 3) Japanese Elon Musk sends out a Happy Birthday Rocket on a whim that crashes into a satellite, kills a husband and wife, and gets away with it. We even see the frozen corpse of the husband. 4) The show basically turns into an alien crime drama that dives into how hard it is living as an alien immigrant and ends with a shootout that leaves multiple dead bodies. 5) Pirika befriends a young woman who is secretly the herald of an alien invasion and who sacrifices herself to help Titas stop the monster, leaving Pirika devastated and left with nothing but the selfie they took with each other. And then Titas just Shuwatches away. |

The cast of The Destined Crossroad’s English version has been announced.
https://en.tsuburaya-prod.co.jp/news/4442 The TL;DR is that the US trio is voiced by Georgie from Ultraman Gaia, Sean from Ultraman Max and the black dude from Movie Wars Megamax. Also, the guy who voiced Ribut in the first one is now voicing Leo. |

In anticipation of the premiere tomorrow night, the first episode of the Destined Crossroad (English ver.) is up on YouTube.

Wait, they're after the Eternity Core now? Is this before the Ribut and Trigger team-up arc?
I just love this idea of Astra as like this Ultra Detective who has to find where the Absolutians are. So Regulos has this whole backstory with animal people. Even a furry girlfriend perhaps? I need to see this. I guess Grigio doesn't really have a distinct fighting style other than just winging it in a girly way. And now she's made friends with all the comedy relief Ultra's! But it's cute seeing them again. I wonder if Mebius' comment is indicating just how plot relevant Grigio is going to end up being. Hikaru and Sho, together as always! That's one tough Bemstar though. Geed can't help but have to keep cleaning up his dads' messes. Also, Daichi really feeling that Senior energy around younger Ultras. It's weird seeing Z without Haruki, but knowing Haruki is helping people on another planet is pretty nice. I hope they can reunite someday (heck, I hope Taiga sees Hiroyuki again at some point). Titas appreciating Beta Smash's muscles is...everything. What better way for Zero to train than to have Joneus, his dad, and Leo all beat him up? The 0-50 Ultras together (minus Grigio), although Gina Spectre seems the strongest she's ever been. |

Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad
A bunch of younger Ultras going into the Monster Graveyard sounds like the perfect premise for a horror movie. Exceed X! Do they not actually have the X Juggler anymore...? Seven's Kaiju buddies! That's the Gua Spectre suit we've been waiting for since that X arc, although kind of sucks for Gina. Dark Grigio was legit, but it led to a nice team-up moment and Grigio winning her first Ultra Beam duel. Nice to see Reiga again and getting to see it flex a little more. I can't believe I never realized that Grigio and Gina have being sisters with two brothers in common. No wonder they bonded in this. And becoming rivals with Gina helped strengthened Grigio's resolve to become a stronger Ultrawoman. Cosmos' theme! Leo's theme! Taiga's theme! Orb's theme! Zero to Infinity! Zero's theme! "Beliarok, you came back!" "I figured you needed my help." "About time I came back to my true user." "I have to go reunite with Haruki and Storage." I'm not crying, your crying! Although yeah this takes place before Episode Z, so that checks out. Wait, was that a theme for Grigio? She has one? Some things never change, like Belial trying to kill his son and Tregear trying to mentally break Taiga. Although couldn't someone have let poor Geed know ahead of time his father was alive and working with the Absolutians? Oh hey, look at all the Zero guest appearances in other shows/specials/movies! I wanted to see Leito though...also, where are Ultimate Force Zero in this whole thing? "I have no limits" - the moment Zero said this I wanted him to transform into Zero Beyond. But oh well. Gotta admit, after all the years he'd been a deadbeat dad, Seven kind of earned that kick. But another father-son hug will do just fine. Holy crud, Noa! Not only that, Nexus in both of his forms! And going on a rampage! And almost killing Ribut! I also distinctly heard the Nexus theme when he started fighting for the good guys. Ultra Force! Team USA representing! It was nice to see them in action and kicking butt. Also, Beth's legs and bust. Just...Beth's legs and bust. Ribut and Titan have their fight and end up developing an honorable and respectful rivalry, with the potential for Titan to maybe switch sides. I like how Titan's eyes glow up when he goes into battle mode. Tartarus being this unflinching Big Bad for so long, it was really satisfying to see Zero finally fight him as an equal and to have Leo and Astra wreck him a little as well. Guys' veneer and confidence is starting to shake. Xenon! Ultraveseven 21! Justice! This is already feeling like the Ultra equivalent to Endgame! Figured Tregear and Hikari would have to fight now that we know their backstory together, and to see Hunter Knight Tsurugi again. Really hyping up Regulos by talking about how legendary the Cosmo Beast Style is and making him close to Leo and Astra. Father and son team-up against Tartarus and father and son team-up against Tregear. Gotta love it. They didn't make all those suits for Regulos' fellow Cosmo Beast Art practitioners and master if they weren't going to Regulos' backstory at some point, right? Although I thought for sure Spica was a girl. Diavolo keeps blowing up. Although now we know he only has five (make that four after Trigger beat him) hearts left before he's permanently dead. It was nice to see the Ultra Brothers get their own spotlight moments. Have a mob of bad guys? Just summon Mebius Infinity! Zoffy against Belial, but Z and Geed have more stake in this, Z because he needs Beliarok back and Geed because he keeps having to take responsibility for his father. Holy crud, a new Z form! No one told me about this! Sure it was just a recolor, but it was still pretty awesome! Riku tries to get through to his dad who goes "I never had a son." Can someone just cut Riku a break? Darkness Heels Belial would probably be a better father at this rate. He already got Riku a mom. Ribut, no! He and Tartarus got sucked into a portal! Don't do that to poor Sora! We finally get acknowledgement of the fourth Absolutian, the Absolutian "Lord." Which I guess means it's not female? Then again they didn't use any he or her descriptions so maybe it's ambiguous and she's a female lord? Or is the Lord and the female Absolutian separate characters? It definitely seems like the Lord is the Absolutian equivalent to King. So are the Parallel Isotopes going to end up becoming their main universe selves with Belial having the Battlenizer and Tregear having his mask? Although it seems like Tregear has more doubts. I wonder how long they'll keep these two alive. I don't quite understand how Regulos is a Parallel Isotope? Was he stuck out of time in that dimension the Absolutians stuck him in? Holy @#$%! Trigger!? This was a prequel to the Ultraman Trigger Ribut arc the whole time!? So, like...when is the next real installment? Decker, since it's on the same Earth? Ribut, Tartarus, and Diavolo have been stuck there the whole time? |

Wait, is this actually from the movie? Did they really pull a reverse-Jirahs and put a reused Shin Godzilla model in this movie? If so that's genius.

Today I learned Showa Gomess was also a Godzilla suit reuse, interesting. But, my question remains unanswered: Is this in the movie or... ? |

I've avoided watching it to avoid spoilers, though that's not really helped since I know a few other notable appearances in the movie, though thankfully it's not on the level of when Shin Godzilla was being spoiled for me. |
I don't know why we only get the English dub of The Destined Crossroad. The average at best voices are really unflattering. Grigio and Tregear's voices are probably the best, Teetarn's is alright. Eh. I wouldn't mind watching it again in Japanese, Tsuburaya!
I did not realise this thing was 2 hours long! Like the previous stuff, it's 2 hours of fan-service and Cool Shit happening. It's ridiculous and over-the-top and I love it. I don't want Ultraman stuff to be like this ALL the time or anything, it's just fun to have a different style to the normal series occasionally. Titas complimenting Beta Smash's muscles is the kind of goofy cross-over stuff I like. Then the cool cross-over stuff like teams of random Ultras together. I liked seeing Ultra Force together doing their thing too. I also noticed Beth... ahem. With the "back story" and powers that Regulos shows, they must be planning to do something with else with him. Maybe we get Ultra Fight Regulos or something. Deathcium Rise Claw doesn't do a lot but it looks cool (A Black and Gold colour scheme is hard to mess up). They should've given this form a claw though otherwise why keep the name?! But yeah, this whole thing is fun. It's worth paying $10 or whatever to watch, even if it's with the English dub. Keep giving me one of these between shows and I'll be happy. |

Just finished episode 32 of Return of Ultraman and I seriously have to wonder what the heck were they smoking when they were working on that particular episode back in the day. The episode right before this one is very good though.
