There's schools in Sunday in Japan ?
|
People get off from school and work on Sundays. That's why Toei has their kids shows on Sundays like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Precure, Dragon Ball Super, One Piece and Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On.
|
They could keep in Sundays and change the time slot ?

To see if increase the ratings.

Ratings are not a major issue. Merchandise sales keep the series alive. Toei considers ratings to be a after thought.

TV Asahi may have a profit sharing deal with Bandai, but no one in the US fandom knows for sure. But even if that's the case, Asahi's increased involvement in production is a pretty good indicator that they're concerned about ratings. |
From what I've know is that merchandise sales are normally more important to Toei than ratings. Toei canceled Dragon Ball Kai (before they brought it back in 2014) presumably due to poor merchandising sales. Even Kyoryuger had stronger toy sales despite doing poorly in ratings as well and we still had new Super Sentai after 2013.
|
Toei actually just stopped the show because the last episode would have aired after the Tohoku earthquake.
|
There may be a scale of acceptable ratings vs merch sales where there's a balance that keeps everything profitable. If that line isn't met, the show isn't renewed. For instance, word is my beloved Ryukendo had terrible ratings, but healthy merch sales. The show finished the season, but didn't come back for another. I'd say that, if true, that kind of calls the "ratings don't matter" meme into question.

Without the merch sales, Toei doesn't make a profit, but if the ratings are poor the station won't want to air it when they could air something that'll get them more viewers and therefore ad revenue. You need to have both ratings and merch sales so that it's profitable for all parties.
|
Sentai and Kamen Rider have low ratings for some time now. Even Ryuki had poor ratings and fans where worried that the show would be canceled before the show was over. I think if it was not for merchandise sales, Toei would probably stop Super Sentai and Kamen Rider over a decade ago.
|
True, but how effective is a commercial that nobody sees? There is a point where the ratings do matter, it's just secondary to merch sales.
|
I forget which way it is but Toei/TV Asahi owns a piece of TV Asahi/Toei, so I doubt Sentai would ever be in serious danger of being outright canceled. Instead, any likely end would come because the shows just don't move toys anymore. Sentai has less of an advertiser problem because Toei is the main advertiser. Watch any Sentai episode live and you'll see 95%-100% of the commercials are for either for the Sentai's toys itself or other Toei products.
That said, the crew cares about ratings when they're good. It's something they can boast about. (they did so with Kamen Rider Decade and W) What's scary is that you don't actually need a show to move toys. There are some long running toy lines with no shows attached them. Quote:
Ryukendo was also probably sold as a big package deal. The show was actually supposed to air an entire year before it did and so by the time it actually began, filming was already complete. My understanding of the situation is that this is the reason we didn't get a second entry into what would have been the Madan franchise. Takara employed a lot of third party people for CGI and production work, so by the time the show was airing, the only way you could realistically keep the franchise going is by yet again filming the entire show in advance, which isn't a great idea. There's about 14 months between Ryukendo and Rescue Force and I think that allowed the crew enough time to work on something else and reassemble. |
What would happen if the Toei change their administration ?
|
Is Kaixa-Bird's actor (Kōhei Murakami) the only actor to play both a Rider and a Sentai?

So thoughts on the Kyuranger cast info so far? Personally, I like it.
|
I'm digging it. A cast of 9+ might be a bit much, but we'll see how the handle them.

I am interested about Blue Ranger because according to the info about him, He is NOT full-fledged beastman but half Maybe one of his parents fall in love with Non-Beastman species and that's how he become Half-Beastman Black Ranger is the one that got me exciting because this character is the MOST RISKY CONCEPT they ever did! A FREAKING ROBOT WRESTLING CHAMPION?! I have a feeling we will get a WRESTLING episode! By the way, His name is Champ! "I CAN'T BEAT THE CHAMP CAUSE HE'S THE CHAMP!" LOL I have a feeling one of Suit Rangers will steal the scene from HUMAN ACTORS! |

How do you feel about Kyuranger take place in Villain World?
Well the whole universe even the earth was already taken over by evil organization called Jack MATTER! This is probably first time that Sentai Villains have already taken over the earth! Well it kindly justify the reason of why Kyuranger take place in a distant future |
Are you hoping there will be "Take That, Scrappy!" moment for this one?
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...akeThatScrappy Like a character would call out Red Ranger for being a manchild who think it was a game all the time and say he have NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. He would criticize him for screaming too much and doesn't know of why Red Ranger always get the goodies while other Rangers don't. He call him out for not treating other Rangers as his comrades and treat them as his sidekicks I wish Quagmire would be that person to pull "Take That, Scrappy!" To Red Ranger after what he did with Brian https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BdbnssEZ_Xk |
Yamato is one of the more mature Red Rangers we've had in a while.

Since Bandai America confirmed their involvement with Kyuranger, Do you think Americans have a hard time of adapting some Sentai Show?
For Example How do you adapt Go-Onger which is the over-the-top and anime feel Sentai Show to American audience? They will be like "No one will take this one too seriously" and what Go-Onger become? Power Rangers RPM which is more darker and futuristic than Go-Onger |
I've never followed a sentai series, and I'm greatly interested in Kyuranger, so I'm wondering... what's the best way to keep up with a current running sentai series?

Megaranger might be the reference for In Space, but the Megarangers never had anything to do with space, except for having a rocket mecha. |
Do you guys think it's a good idea to start a team with 9 members ?
