Watched the final episode of Noragami today, I really liked the show, the idea of a minor god trying to remain relevant trough lesser jobs was fun, but the characters were the real stars of the show, in particular Hiyori she was a strong and fun lead, Yato has Hiroshi Kamiya's voice so I'm biased, and Yukine's cahracter development was the main focus of the show so he turned out pretty well.
But that's the main thing, outside of Yukine's growth nothing much happened, the show has strong characters and ideas but there was so much more to do, I hope we get another season. Thank god this season is ending, all shows I picked last season decided to run for two-cours so this season was really hectic. |
HeartCatch 18 and 19:
I liked 18. Ban reminded me of Kanji from Persona 4. I figured he would be into cute things, but a Precure manga? That was unexpected. :lol It was till pretty much filler, but enjoyable filler. As for 19...I thought it was ok. It bothered me that they never brought up Aki's mother, but we got a bit of backstory on Erika's father, which was nice. Also, HOLY CRAP Erika's dad opened his eyes! I found it weird that he acted like a giant monster is a normal thing. EDIT: Episode 20: The plot thickens... A new fairy is born! and we see or hear, rather the Desert Apostles' true leader, Dune. The only thing that bothered me was how easily the bad guys gave up. Cobraja I understand, but Kumojacky could've stayed and helped Sasorina out. 21: *sigh* Really Erika? You take Potpourri's Precure Seed and ask what it is? Gee...I don't know, maybe it's that thing you use to transform!!! Anyway, the Precure scouting parts were funny. I particularly enjoyed the part with Ban. :lol I have to wonder, though...could a guy become a Precure? I have to agree with Cobraja here...THAT'S the reason her heart flower was wilting? Everyone else's thus far have been over more serious issues than just being scared. I feel stupid for not already figuring out that Coupe was Tsubomi's Grandma's partner. I had originally thought he was just there. :lol Also, Yuri smiled for once! :lol This was the most I've ever enjoyed myself during an episode of HeartCatch. 22: So...Kumojacky just looked at a Typhoon for 30 seconds and developed a new attack from it...okaaaaaaay... 23: Cure Sunshine had an awesome introduction! This was a really good episode. I was honestly afraid that something worse was going to happen to Itsuki's brother for her to become Cure Sunshine. I love her henshin sequence, by the way, the karate moves are a nice touch. I also love how her finisher is Macross Missile Massacre, also her catchphrase is my favorite. 24: WOAH! This show just went all DBZ! That fight against Dark Precure was awesome! It really had me on the edge of my seat, and capes! They've been in the intro the whole time...it's about time they used those. :lol So yeah, the Cure Sunshine story arc is definitely my favorite story arc thus far. 25: Woah! Sunshine almost got Sasorina! Sunshine is quickly becoming my favorite Precure...even though I still think Moonlight looks way cooler. I love how Cobraja lets whether or not he thinks something is beautiful dictate all of his actions. :lol Also, way to spoil the Super Modes in the end credits there, guys... Now I gotta wait for this next batch torrent to download... |

So I finished HeartCatch Precure yesterday, well today... at 3am, thank god today was a holiday.
I have already expressed my opinion of the show many times here (great cast, enjoyable motw episodes, engaging story and full of energy) the ending was good, I dropped a few tear near the end, and then when it finally hit me that it was over, I let a few more out. Let's see this time the things I didn't like so much: The main villain trio has very defined personalities, and while they don't get much development they stnad out, Dark Precure was cool as well, but Professor Sabaaku was as interesting and relevant as a paper cutout, Dune is esentially big bad and nothing else. I feel they could have explained the powers and the way things worked out in this world a tad bit more, I had some doubts here and there after the show was over, but nothing major. So now let's see a list of favorites no one ever asked for: Precure (Moonlight), Fairy (Coffret), Supporting Character (Ban-kun), Episodes (33, 34, 48), Villain (Cobraja), Henshin (Sunshine), Finisher (Gold Forte Burst), Song (HeartCatch Orchestra) So with that said, all that is left is the movie. Since I finished Robotics;Notes I have started Chaos;Head. I just can't wait for the new episode of Kill La Kill this week! I'm already pumped!

:D HeartCatch 26: I rather liked it. I don't know...is it just me? or did it seem like that girl wanted to be more than just friends with Itsuki? Also, poor Kumojacky...he had to do it all alone. :p |
This: Let's all love Lain! Let's all love Lain! Lain!Lain!Lain!Lain!

That's something I never considered, then again we've seen that girls dig Itsuki... |
Quote:
True. you know...I kind of dig Itsuki too...:lol |

So do I |
HeartCatch 27:
The writing was off this episode. That guy said he was focusing on his training and not relationships, then Tsubomi's grandmother says "I remember my first love" Okay? and Tsubomi's grandma just randomly left the mountain after getting lonely, and Sora just randomly gave her a music box? Also, Tsubomi's grandfather looks a lot like Bishie Samurai-Pants...hmmmmm... |
And D-Frag ended too, I found it to be very enjoyable, the comedy was great and everything, no matter how kundane was treated in the most over the top way possible, adding to the humor.
The main cast was cool, but there were also a fair amount of pointless characters, but I suppose that if they make a sequel they'll explore them more. Overall, it always managed to give me good laughs so it served it's role. |

HeartCatch 28:
DO YOUR HOMEWORK KIDS!!! Oh...Coffret is going to be on the toilet, er jar for days. O_O I mean, it was a blatant "Do your homework" moral episode, but it was cool to see the Precures fight a horde of Desertians. It makes me feel bad for procrastinating so much. :lol http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1395725086 OKAY I'M SORRY COBRAJA!!! I'LL DO MY HOMEWORK!!! |
Quote:
I found the fact that Cobraja planned so far ahead to be absolutely mindblowing, the desert apostles are esentially oprtunists, but Cobraja took it to the next level, he would be incredibly dangerous if he focused more often. |

Any other current season anime worth checking out? In a blink I realised I'm actually almost completely caught up with this show and by the time I do that I'll probably also be watching the last episode. And after watching this show, I have hope for anime again.
Kill la Kill 18. Only in a show this consistently insane, can a twist like this actually work so well. Kill la Kill may not have been the best anime I've ever watched, but when it works it REALLY works. And that says a lot, as I don;t usually like it when silly shows suddenly go all dark and brutal, but damn. Plus man the action this week was AMAZING. I just think Ryuuko is great, massive crush over here, but I also think it's handled really well too. It'd be so easy to make someone as powerful as Ryuuko boring, but somehow she's always brilliant to watch because this is just such an insane show. There are some parts of this show which I feel just a little too juvenile in the "edgy" department, though, and this was especially true of this episode as the focus really shifted onto Ragyou. I hate pretty much everything about Satsuki's mother, not because of the intentional stuff, but because it appears in an otherwise pretty intelligent show, she was written but a horny 14 year old who has never left their house. And somehow her juvenile, gratuitous immaturity seems to rub off on the immediate show around her. How do we defeat Satsuki? Let's have her Mum rub her crotch, making the fourth incestuous moment so far, because mmm incest, so damn sexy! Just no. |

There's more of that in Japanese animation than you'd think. Current ones worth checking out this season are: Attack on Titan Free! Iwatobi Swim Club (If you don't mind slice of life, manservice, and homoerotic undertones.) Outbreak Company (Parody series, if you know about "otaku culture" and are aware of anime tropes, then you'll get a kick out of that show. I loved it. It was the most I've ever laughed when watching a Japanese animated series, but comedy is subjective, so keep that in mind. It may not be your cup of tea.) Not exactly this season: Haiyore Nyaruko-San (I will completely admit that the only reason to watch that show is for the Kamen Rider references, so if you want something that legit has a good story...then maybe don't watch that.) HeartCatch 29 and 30: 29: Not much here, aside from, dude you almost got ran over. I'm sure everyone would understand. 30: I liked this one. Yuri had a lot of good moments here. That was probably the coolest looking Desertian. Also THE BUTT PUNCH IS BACK! http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/up...t-ass-meme.jpg 31: Pretty good, but one major flaw: They just did away with any potential for character development for Sasorina. I really didn't like that, but Yuri got fleshed out more as a character, so I did like that. Dang man...she lost her Fairy, her Heart Flower, and half her heart? Just how much damage did Dark Precure do? Also, that battle music rocked!!! |
Already checked out Attack on Titan, the slow pace and a lack of a proper ending made it all feel a little insulting, even if the 3D movement action set pieces were epic and gorgeous and the dark tone was usually decently implemented .
None of your other suggestions really lit my world on fire between, "homoerotic", "subjective comedy" and "no story" :lol Anything else worth watching right now, or at least recently? |
Just checked out the first episode of Yozakura Quartet Hana no Uta. I am also never writing that again.
Quartet has some decent character designs, but the animation is so so. It's very much a show where it hopes its imagination, and style, will distract you from some of the more glaring budget limitations. The sad thing is, a lot of the style is just fanservice. Not as gratuitous as Kill la Kill perhaps, but since all the girls look like children in this it's somehow worse. That said, I have always enjoyed action anime where the characters have a grasp on their powers from the beginning and we're left to catch up, it just makes the action sequences that much more exciting when they don't have to slow down from anyone in the audience they think can't keep up. Storywise there is nothing all that special about the premise, but the show does drop you right in the deep end, which makes the heavy exposition seem not so bad. It's also only thirteen episodes long, and I'd much rather watch a show this short that gets on with it than some 70 episode series with only five episodes where stuff happens. Nothing earth shattering then, but still seems worth another episode or two. |

I'm guessing it's been a bad season then if only three shows are worth a mention?

There's Gundam Build Fighters...
I mean I haven't heard anybody complain about it, it's really fun. |

HeartCatch 32: So...Bishie Samurai Pants lost his Samurai Pants, and he's Coupe...what? Well I guess it makes more sense than anything else they could've done. The fight was pretty good. I take back what I said about Erika not knowing what that seed was. It was the key to the castle. I did find it kind of odd that after one rather tough Desertrian fight they're suddenly all like "We need more power" Then again, the case could be made that this was the final straw if you take all of their encounters with Dark Precure into consideration. One thing that bugged me was the statues of the previous Precures, I know its a really specific and stupid thing to complain about, but they all had miniskirts...and Tsubomi's grandma was a Precure 50 years ago...any Precure before her would've have to have been older, before miniskirts were socially acceptable. I don't know I just found that odd. |
Started watching Gundam Build Fighters and six episodes in I find myself really enjoying it. I was really hesitant to watch it since I wasnt a fan of Gundams that arent really piloted :lol
|
HeartCatch 33:
Cure Moonlight is back, baby! I liked this episode. It was a nice character piece on Yuri. Sucks that Cologne died...and is still mostly dead. It sucks too (I just said "sucks" twice...) he's the coolest looking fairy, and his voice is cool too. I had a feeling this episode would end with Cure Moonlight coming back, like how Sunshine's introduction episode ended. |
What was worth mentioning last season then, guys? As it looks like I've exhausted the highlights of this season which peak my interest.

I personally feel it's worth picking back up, but then I also love the direction it's taken near the end. You could always go back and watch older stuff too. Join me in Fate/Zero or Fate/Stay Night for example. :lol Not sure how I'm feeling about them though. Maybe I really should have watched Stay Night first instead of opting for the chronological ordering. |
Quote:
Have you seen Gatchaman Crowds? I've heard it's good. |
Oh man Fate/Stay Night was one of my first animes, I LOVE that show. I wonder if it's been released in the UK yet, might get the bluray to watch on my PS3 if it has.

HeartCatch 34 and 35:
34: DUUUDE MOONLIGHT! The ending was kind of sad though...and that fight against Dark Precure was amazing! I love it when this show goes all DBZ with it's fight scenes! :D 35: I liked it, but I find it weird that Yuri's henshin sequence still involves her Precure Seed rematerializing, unless they're implying that she magically makes it appear now. |
Kyoukai no Kanata 01.
I fell in love with this show before because of the gorgeous animation - the women in this show sure are lovely, and the fights sure are stunning. Now it's finished I thought I'd play catch up. It's actually pretty hilarious too, mainly because it's so damn weird. |

I know! It's so awesome! Her seed remains broken and is only fixed for her transformation, remember who has the other half? ;) |
