Good question. While it will be nice to see the varied characters and suits, there's a very good chance that, similar to Kyoryuger, half of them will get no development whatsoever. Especially if/when the extra ranger shows up down the line.

Being honest? Probably not. Sentai can barely give 5 people enough personality and focus. The chances of them being able to give 9 people enough focus and personality are quite slim. I want to be optimistic though and say that they'll at least be able to make all of them interesting and unique.

I think is a bad idea even with the same formula from Zyuohger.

I mean, if they had Kobayashi, I think she could totally handle that. She's pretty good with character development, even with bigger casts.
Not sure about Mori as a writer. He did some good stuff, he did some eh stuff but never a full show and he mostly had smaller casts to work with. Let's see what he's gonna do.

I think it won't be quite as hard as we might believe as some characters may just play a support role. Silver (the "emotionless warrior") seems to be set playing the straight foil to Gold's comedic antics, while Black is a robot wrestler who might just be an automaton - note that Gold and Pink are listed as "androids" or "cyborgs" (I can't remember exactly) but not robots. I think that, at this late date, the term "robot" is morphing from a catch-all phrase to a specifically non-sentient, worker / tool term. Obviously, I could be way off, but I find it significant that Black is identified as a "robot" and not an "android". He could be a weapon on two legs, essentially, with little need of a deeper back story or further development.

So, that being said, your focus potentially narrows down to 7 - still a LOT of characters to develop, mind you, but less daunting than 9!

Yeah, but Thomas the Tank Engine is view as something for people under the age of 4 or 5. Power Rangers is for kids a bit older than kids watching Thomas the Tank Engine (Even though I started with MMPR when I was three back in 1994).

It's also important to note that, in America, if things aren't "cool" then they are "lame", especially when it comes to little kid politics. Like, a kid loves Thomas, but then he and his pals graduate to Power Rangers. He cannot continue to like Thomas - he must move on from that or risk being ostracized by his Power Ranger loving peers. They go to a mutual friend's house and this poor sap still has Thomas toys - he will be mocked because Thomas is "little kid shit", unlike Power Rangers which is "fuckin' awesome, bro!". Having a million nephews and nieces, I've seen this scenario a few times with different stuff over the years.

Also, Americans have a really low threshold for anything "weird". ToQger is very weird because we don't have a bullet train system so a Power Traingers show seems absurd. Our trains aren't "cool", they're like mules.

Now that Kyuranger has broken the standard giving us a post-anniversary show with a nine-member starting roster since Hurricanger do you think you would still like a sentai show that starts with three only for 2022 or wish it ditched that repetoir starting this year?
If you know your broadcast history for sentai ever since Gaoranger post-anniversary teams started as a trio and later added new members as the show went on.
So far it was Hurricanger, Gekiranger, and Go-Busters that was part of this cycle.

The fact that some people still followed it was rather annoying, though. I think it only became a joke around Drive.

Drive's Shift Cars resembled a 7, and Ghost's G on the Ghost Eyecon looked like an 8.

Yes. It's scrapping all the characters, zords, and continuity of the series before it. Totally a reboot. Not like any other sentai/rangers in any way.

Neither are reboots. They've just played with the format/concept to inject a bit more life into it.

We could have vehicle mechas in 2018 ?

To be fair I do think Sentai needs it, it's been standard fare lately and I haven't been hooked in for Zyuohger and Ninninger outside of the mecha collecting aspect, Toqger was the last one I looked forward to each episode, so it could do with some freshness to it with how it tells its stories, it's overall aesthetic and how it presents it's characters.

Now I do like Sentai characters I do think they do their base personalities fine, but I think it could do with something a bit more different with them, for example I like the way the Ex-aid characters are presented it's a bit refreshing after Drive and Ghost.

I think I'll enjoy new shows more if I watch em in batches like I am with Ex-aid so I'll do the same with Kyuranger.

I think the lack of vehicles in Super Sentai is that they started not selling as much as they used to as time went on.
Based on personal observation Super Sentai merch's best selling stuff are mostly the robots and roleplay toys.
I'm sure the sofubi figures still sell too but from the looks of it they dont amount to much on the grand scale of things.
