Ah yes another series I was enjoying but got fed up of watching week by week, will need to grab a batch torrent of that at some point as well.
|
And another ending, this time Tokyo Ravens, it was completely and perfectly... average, not terrible, but definitely not good, if people call Gaoranger Sentai flavored Sentai, then Tokyo Ravens is Anime flavored Anime.
The world is moderately creative but not very well explained, the concepts introduced are nice but rarely expanded in a satisfying way and the characters have clear personalities but not necessarily interesting. But there were ravens in tokyo... once, so it lives up to the title I guess. |
Well I won't be adding that show to my list...

Good call.

Kill la Kill 20. This show has a FANTASTIC soundtrack.
By no means a "bad" episode at the most literal meaning of the word, but now the stakes are so high in this show I do kinda wish this show had been more serious. I kinda feel Kill la Kill's need to retain its goofy, comedy tone at all times, undermines and even holds back what could have been potentially epic moments of the series. |
Kill la Kill 21.
Man Junketsu as worn by Ryuuko is really ugly, even if she continues to prove herself as one of the BEST anime protagonists ever. Although for such a climactic feeling episode, this had some really bad animation. Especially for this show, which usually has gorgeous looking fight scenes. |

We watched the 8th episode to Space Dandy (missed out on 7 as it is no longer up On Demand) and it was better than some of the others. I thought the line about dying with sucking was great. The best scene though was the refrigerator from Cowboy Bebop.

I wonder what the production delays were that CrunchyRoll claim caused Samumenco and Kill la Kill's finales to be postponed...
Either way, just finished Kill la Kill. That sure was one incomprehensible finale, but I don't think I would have had it any other way. Looking forward to Samurai Flamenco in the morning. |

- Loaded with pretentious symbolism - Unsure if a character dies or not If you have all of those three you've got a Gainax Ending. :lol Quote:

Just finished Kill la Kill and Chuunibyou Ren.
Kill la Kill was great, but just about where I expected it to be. For a show that threw out a lot of plot twists it seemed to be pretty methodical here. Not a problem, and it's easily my favorite anime this season. Chuu2 2: Electric Chuugaloo was really disappointing though. Shichimiya was the only novel part of the show and her arc got maybe an episode and a half at most. I've also been watching Golden Time, but I haven't really kept up with where it is right now. (I think it's ending this week?) The drama is a little too much to follow and a lot of it seems to either come out of nowhere or a lack of communication. Definitely not up to par with Toradora's drama, but I suppose it's a little more realistic. |
How is Kill la Kill? From, what I've seen, it's not bad. I've been planning on watching it, bit need a tie-breaker between it and Nanoha.

But it's very much a show with GREAT standalone episodes and Ryuuko and Senketsu are GREAT central protagonists who honestly deserve a much better show to star in. |

So uh... Samurai Flamenco's ending...
Yyyyyeahhh... That was weird. |
So I been doing a rewatch of fairy tail to get me set up for episode 176. I skipped episode 125 to 150 due to the fact that is a filler arc and I all ready watched it once so I wanted to just do a filler free arc run and so I'm now taking my time on season 4 and forgotten on how much a doush bag sting was towards natsu. I can't wait to rewatch there fight so that they can be put in there place.

Kill la Kill is basically Gurren Lagann if Trigger could just go all out with it. Its plot in nonsensical yet easy to follow and engaging, its characters are all colorful and interesting, its scope constantly increases as time goes on, shifting gears halfway through, it has fun with its pacing and tone by mixing serious moments with humorous moments, its animation can be just as fantastic as it can be wacky, its soundtrack is wonderful, its acting is great, etc, etc, etc. Is it a victim of being over-hyped? Yes. Just like SAO or Attack on Titan. Though in Kill la Kill's case most of its hype comes from the fans who are excited to see where it's going to go and how crazy things are going to get, which is warranted IMO. Honestly, you have to watch the show for yourself. It's serious/slapstick tone is mostly constant throughout the series, so if it doesn't grasp you by the first few episodes then don't bother continuing. |
I agree with all of what Shin Henshin just said.

I just could not stand the way Kill la Kill gripped so tightly to its goofball comedy routes even as the plot blew up to a scale unimaginable in the first few episodes. I'm not a "grimdark" fan, but the tone of the whole show was pretty much entirely wrong for the last pretty much three quarters of the series. TTGL was silly too, but it knew that silly all the time is unengaging and recognised you'd need a serious moment peppered in now and then. The fact TTGL's serious moments were so rare is part of what made them so incredibly memorable, and part of the reason why the show stuck in my heart as long as it has done. Kill la Kill has no real memorable moments, because even its darkest most bloodiest scenes are played for shits and gigs gags. That kind of stuff is just not for me at all. It was mostly well paced, the acting was pretty meh across the board but I adored the central chemistry between Ryuuko and Senketsu (they deserved to be in a better show) and the soundtrack was GREAT but I don't think any of these outweigh the negatives and ultimately I'd say the show is just sorta average to borderline bad. |

And as for memorable moments, maybe none exist for you but stuff like Gamagoori's first appearance, Ryuuko and Satsuki's first duel, the tri-states field trip, their duel in Osaka, Senketsu threatening Tsumugu, Sanageyama's fights with Ryuuko, all of these things I still remember fondly. Quote:
No anime is bad,...unless it's universally panned in which case it IS bad, whether it's liked or not depends on the viewer. Especially for shows like this, that have such a specific formula to them that recommending it to others or telling people to steer clear of it based on word alone won't do it justice. |
I used to be really into anime when I was a teenager, but it's one of the few things in my life I grew out of. I tried to get back into it again, but anime largely existed as my gateway to other things I like a lot more and I've never been able to get back into anime in any considerable way since. Obviously I'm speaking generally for general's sake, but I just find it a medium plagued with problems, that hold back even the best of series.
Also, I thought it was granted that every post is my opinion and should never be taken as fact? I didn't realise I'd need to state otherwise... They asked how it was, and I said how I saw it. |
After three pages of Kill La Kill dicussion there's no need to go deep into it.
So in short: I enjoyed it, it was fun, but not great and as usual it was overhyped. |
And with that, Samurai Flamenco was done.
That was an awful ending. It was all going fine for the most part (if a little bizarre), but then the epilogue showed that nothing has really changed. Hazama's just the Flamenco he was at the beginning but with a teenage Joker adversary, and Goto hasn't moved on at all. |
Loved the ending to Kill La Kill. :D
Also: RIP Senkestu :cry |

Don't think I'm gonna bother picking up Samurai Flamenco again either after reading all this.
