Let me break it down
Ace + Gorilla + Rabbit = Gobuster Oh Ace + Gorilla + Rabbit + Beet + Stag = Great Gobuster (contrary to popoular to belief it's just Great Go-Buster, not Great Go-Buster Oh) LiOh + Gorilla + Rabbit = Go-Buster LiOh LiOh + Gorilla + Rabbit + Beet + Stag = Go-Buster King |

Go-Busters 33: We are introduced to the main plotline for the rest of the show Messianic Metaroids/Cards. Escape is back and the Powered Customs are introduced, I don't like their design but their powers and the concept behind them is really cool.
|
The Powered Custom suits are certainly something that grow on you as the series goes on.
|
At first they seemed kind of silly but the visor on top of visor is what sold me on them :lol

Go-Busters 34: Jin's easy-going attitude hides a dark secret, Puppetroid "partners up" with Jin and LiOh debuts!
An excellent episode, Jin is easily my favorite Go-Buster so seeing more of him is always great, his fight with Hiromu was great both choreography and character wise. RH-03 continues to get the short end of the stick and LiOh is... different, wonder what's the deal with him. |

Oh great, another episode where the villains suck people inside them to some other dimension, what is this, like the seventh time they've used this? Actually, in places, the episode seemed to try and be sort of deep and critique itself but it was just such a ludicrous story I couldn't take it seriously. The Birdcage Vagrant has to be one of the most ludicrous villains I've ever seen in sentai, ever, I love him. He's some kind of racially stereotyped alcoholic bandit birdcage, armed with a machine gun peg leg, what appears to be a sentient bus full of birds, that can drop grenades on his enemies for him and he himself has the power to turn people into birds. His backstory involves him being the ultimate warrior, with something very similar to a Rider Kick. |
Anyone know where I can find the Super Hero Taisen Otsu net movie 3? I've been able to find them all except the third one.

Really, filler, this late in the game? I mean sure that Birdcage stuff was basically filler as well, but he was the coolest villain ever. This is just about Lin modelling Pot Noodles or something. I seriously don't get this shows obsession with the woman though, I really don't find her very attractive. It says a lot about Lin's character as well, specifically how weak it is, that Media Magician is able to exploit her so easily through cheesy grins and the promise of stardom. These really are probably the most unheroic sentai team ever, except Daigo, but Daigo does nothing in this show unless Kujaku is involved. Although who knew she had enough Qi to level whole cities? Holy shit. If she has that much power, and gets so routinely beaten, then how strong are the Gorma? Why haven't they completed their goals yet? Wait...what are their goals? At least Media Magician had a cool design - he was a lot like that ridiculous 6,000 year old Copy Machine woman if that wasn't stupid and shit. Although why did he bleed? And why did his shirt rip? I also like that he betrayed Gorma for Lin, died, was made large and was just automatically evil again to which no one questioned, even Lin who was apparently in love with him. Everything else in this show is so goofy, coupled by even goofier designs. I guess they kinda overdosed while creating the Birdcage Vagrant and decided to hone it back in a little. Still, the posters did turn people into vampires, so you don't have to worry about the show being serious or something crazy like that. |

Go-Busters 35: LiOh's arc continues as we meet another scientist daughter, isn't she like third one in the show? Anyways she was even more blunt than Hiromu which is impressive. LiOh is revelaed to be a Buddyzord.
And I couldn't help but laugh when the girl was surprised to learn that LiOh and Ace combine, it's Sentai the robots always combine. :lol |

Wow, Gorma love paedos, huh? A really camp, gay, cactus paedophile. This shit certainly was fucking creepy, so it succeeded there. It also centred around Daigo a lot, which is also a win in my book, although why does he have another story centred around a female with super powers? This show really needs more variation in its stories. They even managed to fit a generic green peace message in there as well. Although the lack of teamwork does kinda suck, I will say that I do like that no member of the team seems overtly stronger than the other. Usually the villain of the week is always left for Red to defeat, while the others busy themselves doing something else, but minus members like Kazu or Lin who get barely any focus in this show at all, the team has had pretty equal victory figures under their belt. And if a franchise built around teams, that rarely has teamwork at all, gives you two options - one is to have the Red drown everyone out, or two, that simply each member of the team is powerful enough to function as an individual, I'd rather have two. Although I have been fairly unimpressed with this show overall, what I will give the show, is that it has some damn impressive action. The show is about as old as me (or is it older?), and it really shows, lots of visible wires and safety equipment, lots of goofy special effects and cheap monster suits, but at the same time the sense of epic is just so well constructed here. No matter how goofy they are, they always have a huge amount of power which makes every fight and confrontation really feel like an epic, climactic battle and even though it constructs these big, explosive, crazy battles so well the show knows just as well, how to construct a thrilling and dramatic one on one showdown. I love it. |
Go-Busters 36: Jealousy runs rampant, and the Buddyroids go on Strike!? :lolol
Fun episode, J antics were hilarious as always and we learn more about the functioning of the Powered Customs and the Lio Attache which can warn about the Go-Busters weaknesses, wonder waht it says about Hiromu's. With LiOh being unable to speak I guess he'll get the short end of character development. |

Yay Jin is back! Jin is epic anyway, but he's also like the only villain in this show that isn't just a joke the show takes seriously, so he becomes extra special. Although to be fair, Sergeant Cannon was pretty cool as well. Does Ryou know about Jin's demon powers? Or that he is still alive? I'm pretty sure he didn't, but he sure didn't react to any of that. Oh well, minus that hiccup, this episode was amazing. I love how Jin seems to have this power to make weak characters, into strong ones. Ryou's pretty much only good episode, was when he was training to defeat Jin, and here Ryou once again steps up to remind us why he leads his team. The big change here however, is Jin's effect rubs off on the whole team, and although corny my GOD do the Dairanger's seem like badasses in this episode. |

Yay, another Kujaku Daigo episode! Just a shame the villain this week was a fucking kaleidoscope. So the past connection between Kujaku and Gara is finally revealed...and it's a laughabley bad piece of storytelling. A brick fell on Gara's face, but rather than killing her, it cut her cheek. Does she treat this as a miracle? No, she never comes out in public again and betrays her entire tribe. What a crock of shit. Also didn't we do all this shit with that Lipstick Chick already? What is it with this show and just repeating the same stories over and over and over. Have they just given up on Kou now? For the last five or ten episodes, he's just appeared right at the end for the mech fight with a line like 'lol sorry I was washing my hair and I had a headache' but now they didn't even bother to give him that. What a waste of fucking time Kibaranger turned out to be. I'm actually starting to realise what an amazing character the White Ranger was. The trees are attacking? They should be glad this ain't Evil Dead. |
KibaRanger is no different than DragonRanger. He shows up when needed and goes away until it is his time to shine. That was how the sixth rangers worked back in the 90s. They were not there to suddenly lose a battle every episode with the other rangers like the sixths of today do. They were pretty much like Batman in the JL. There to help if necessary. It made the appearance of the sixth ranger special back then. Don't worry, you will be getting some really nice Kou episodes soon.
But then, you'll probably hate them since you seem to be hating the show anyway. |
On that note, who WAS the first "regular" sixth?

Alright, Goseiger episode 2...
So far, Goseiger isn't the most exciting of Sentais, but I don't hate it. Maybe things will liven up as I go on through it. Anyway, it's MUCH better than Megaforce's "He blasted me with science", but being better than Megaforce isn't a hard thing to manage. Megaforce is only enjoyable because of the slowly escalating acting skills and the cheesiness of it all. Goseiger seems to have more heart and care put into it. So yeah...kinda dull for my tastes but not bad at all, I hope to gain more interest as the show goes on. |

I haven't gotten very far either, but 4 is probably the first I truly enjoyed. |

But to you nothing is as good as Dairanger so that opinion is a bit biased :D
Jetman is one of the most solid early Showa sentais out there. The design influences changed drastically between it and Zyuranger sure, but Jetman is still a very compelling and excellent show. Aside from more extravagant mecha and a 6th warrior I don't see much that sets Dairanger apart from Jetman. Don't forget that they do both have giant middle finger endings :lol A repetitive cycle of battles that never end for Dairanger and Gai's random death in the last episode for Jetman. If anything there on the same level quality wise, though I personally thought Jetman was a better crafted series. |
Quote:
Nah, like I said, it's good, but so far not as "engaging" as Shinkenger and Gokaiger. |

I never saw Gai's death as a middle finger ending. Sure I can see why people get annoyed about it but I really liked the element of realism it added. Just because you're a hero and saved the world, it doesn't mean you aren't human and still can't be struck down by some random tragic accident. The fact Gai makes it all the more poignant. Suddenly this badass whose taken shit from no one acknowledges Ryu as his best friend, makes it their wedding and accepts his fate. Gets me far more than some of the other deaths in Sentai. |
Gai's death was really, really emotional! I knew it was coming, but it still got me! It was such a happy ending with them all moving on and being happy and then that happens..
Anyway, I've been watching more Goseiger and Gosei Knight has finally showed up. He really is pretty awesome. I know it'll be short-lived, but I freaking love that while in Megaforce he's like a robot Captain Planet with less personality, in Goseiger he's a freaking douchey eco-terrorist. Nice having the Goseigers actually fight him and fail to save the factory from him too, adds a little drama which Goseiger really needed. |

I'm roughly half way through Jetman, and what I've seen of that, I like it way, way more. The characters are better and the villains are better. I got kind of annoyed by how long they'd hold out before using their Cross Changers, usually getting battered in the process - plus not all of the Jetmen exactly match up to the personalities of the characters, and the love triangle was kinda weak but it was still much more solid show than Dairanger. |
Honestly the only good thing about Dairanger are the characters except for Douche Kaku (That's the name my bro and I gave him. I don't even remember what he's actually called lol.) Anyways yeah it has sporadic storytelling and had no idea how to use a sixth ranger. Also the ending with the villains just falls apart (quite literally too) with what they are and what the fuck is actually going on.
The Characters I find are totally awesome even with their own mini character arcs and rivals. |
Dairanger had great characters and a good story but for all the build up the finale was a let down. So to me it failed as a series as a whole. Also after the first 5 or so episodes they didn't know what to do with Kibaranger.
|
You're right Den-O, but that is because DaiRanger instantly became my favorite when I saw it and the only thing that has come close to matching it is KakuRanger.
