I'm playing the new PR mobil game, Legacy Wars. It's not half bad.
|
Still trying to 100% Yokai Watch 2.
|
Just beat Shovel Knight twice out of anticipation, one with each playable character
|
Still playing the new Zelda, it's awesome! It is huge. Got that wild and crazy new Mass Effect on dock afterwards.
|
This string of chapters in Project X Zone 2 was amazing. :lol
A Space Channel 5/Burning rangers chapter followed by a Xenoblade/Phoenix Wright chapter. |
Beat Hollow Knight. I’ve spend like 30 hours on this game and it was pretty good. Some minor design-flaws and technical bugs were about the only things which make you realize that this came out of Kickstarter and was made by a small amount of people.
The end got rather frustrating though and one particular challenge I won’t even attempt to try again, but I’ve beaten the true final boss and that’s where the journey ends for me. I recommend it, it's a fantastic Metroidvania but hard as balls. It does feature a certain Dark Souls-flair and the difficulty really is something. |
Finally beat Breath of the Wild last night.
Wow. What a game. I really don't want to stop playing either. I've got some content left to get to at least, but every main quest is done and Calamity Ganon has been defeated. (What a silly name.) Rather anticlimactically, though I was pretty overpowered by that point. I had set a goal for myself - as I often do in an open world game - to do as much as possible before facing the end boss. I visited every shrine before facing him. (Found 106 without a guide and felt pretty good about that. Well... I'd like to think 108 really. There was once I missed as you start climbing Eldin Mountain that I just forgot to mark and return to because my fire resistance was running out. And I figured one would be in the castle, which I didn't approach until I was going to fight Ganon. So that one was last and I'm sure I would have found it on my own. Did so accidentally once I was in there anyway, as I had no knowledge other than it existed.) I only found maybe 150 Korok seeds, but I am not crazy enough to go find the rest. ...Yet. Completed every side quest I could find, which was still somehow 11 short. Should've looked at a guide for that too heh. But that's what I'll be working on now. Even set personal goals of filling the entire compendium, which I very nearly did. I was really obsessed with taking pictures of everything I could. Just need the damn Bow of Light because I figured I'd get to keep it after beating Ganon so didn't stop in the middle of the fight to take a picture of it lol. Granted, a fair few of them I ended up buying from the guy... Maybe 30 total? Out of ~400 isn't bad. And some I missed were just silly. Many were bugs, which were just hard to take pictures of but I had definitely captured, and same goes for a lot of fish. The one enemy I never got one of was just a Talus variant I definitely fought but didn't think was distinct enough. And then the rest were weapons. Which I actually found really annoying. Some were just early game weapons I didn't see for a long time and really only used before I got the camera rune. A couple I had made great use of and must have just assumed I took pictures of at some point. So just me being stupid. And then there were all the Lynel weapons... Which leads into my biggest problem with the game I'll get to soon... I literally just never saw a huge chunk of them. Most Lynels in my game became white manes very quickly. So I never got the crushers or spears from red or blue because I only know a single place where either spawns consistently. And they usually just had swords. So that was frustrating. So it's not like the game isn't without faults though. And my biggest complaint are the enemies. Chiefly, there's not enough variety and the scaling did not (for me at least) perform well. Variety's obvious enough - you tire real quickly of Bokoblins, Moblins, and Lizalfos. And they are just everywhere. The occasionall Hynox or Lynel (not even going to count Modulgas as they're so isolated and if it weren't for a quest I would have never found them) aren't really enough to break up the monotony. Heck, the nighttime enemies just being skeletal versions of these common monsters just made it even worse as you just can't escape them. It became boring after a while because everything was so predictable. And I don't know what caused it, but very quickly in my game I was just encountering black enemies. Skipped over blues very quickly (excepting Bokoblins as blues replaced the reds as the weak support). Which made things hard for a short while, but not in a good way. They weren't killing me still, it was just a frustrating hard as it took longer to whittle away health and I'd run out of weapons faster until I was getting gear that lasted longer. Those are really my only lingering qualms though. The world is vast and beautiful. The joy of discovery was ever-present. Shrine puzzles were fun, although I understand the desire for a few more longer dungeons. I really did have a lot of fun playing it. I was ready to call it quits after beating Ganon and finally move on to another game while awaiting the forthcoming DLC, but knowing I have a decent number of quests left to do has me pretty confident I'll be firing this one up again tonight. |
been playing digimon story dawn aka world dawn

35 hours into Persona 5...

Just re-downloaded H.I.T. (Heroes Of Incredible Tales) gonna give it another go around. :rolleyes

I find it weird that most of the games ive bought this year are in the Strategy RPG genre which is a Genre I didn't really care about before this year.
Ive been playing Chroma Squad the past couple of days, my rangers are named: Nathan May Ken Sandra Randall |
This year is the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy. I became aware of this when ProJared started a Let's Play of the original NES game back in March. I was in need of a game to play at the time and realized there's a handful of numbered FF games I haven't beaten and/or played. I started with the original because I had a VC copy that I never beat. Eventually, I decided to play all me favorites as well and now I have a goal for this year: Beat every numbered FF game...and whatever other FFs I want to play
Here's the general rules I'm going with: First rule: No MMOs. Nothing against them, it's just that they aren't really meant to be beaten. Plus, I'm not willing to do subscription gaming. By the way, is XI even playable anymore? Second: My goal is for XV to be the finale of this. I do not own a system that it can be played on, so while I'm saving for that I'll be focusing on the other games. Priority are ones I haven't beaten or played. The following I've beaten over the years: IV, IV: The After Years, V, VI, VII, VII: Dirge of Cerberus, Tactics, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XIII, XIII-2 (maybe a few others I'm forgetting) What I've beaten this year for far: FF NES (Beat it on April 1st oddly enough) III DS (Can't remember exactly when, but it was early May) XII PS2 (today, actually) Currently playing: IV DS (beaten before, playing on the side) II PSX Final Fantasy NES: I got about halfway years ago and just lost interest. After watching some of ProJared's early episodes where he goes over some basic stuff, most of which are in the manual the VC doesn't have, I felt a lot better about trying again. I did use guides and maps as well to make it easier on myself. Once you get the airship, I feel this one becomes more fun. The game has a lot of problems and cheap tactics, but I'm glad I finally beat it. III DS: Pretty much the same feeling I have about the first game, but with different annoyances. The main issue is the game loves all it's new toys and wants you to use them a little to much. Mini dungeons are annoying. I will give it this though, the moment you realize your starting area in the game is only one tiny point on the world map is a great one. If you have a choice, keep away from the DS version. Mognet is unable thanks to the DS Wi-Fi no longer working. XII PS2: Not gonna lie, I hate this game. I'm not sure if it's the worst FF I've played, but definitely low on the list. The characters are bland and unimportant to their own story and the game play is crap. XII tries so hard to be a single player MMO, but fails miserably. If I had the skill and time, I would love to make an essay on comparing XII and Xenoblade and how Xenoblade does everything XII was trying to do better. I say this because I put off playing Xenoblade for years because it looked like it played a lot like XII. Anyways, my original save was at the final dungeon and I've tried a few times over the years from the beginning to give the game a second chance, but couldn't stand it every time. So this time, I loaded the original save and level grinded enough to beat it so I'll never have to play it again. I will end on a nice comment, XII is a pretty game. IV DS: Now here's something I will praise. IV was my first FF. I played it on an emulator back around 2000 or 2001 when that was still fairly a new thing. This is the game where the story and characters took center stage and the gameplay was still great. The DS version is by far the best version of IV they've made (at least in English). It's the only one that has a very solid translation (and it only took 4 or 5 tries). Coming off I and III where you're the "Heroes of Light" and not much else, IV becomes even more meaningful. The main character Cecil is a Dark Knight ordered to kill innocent people by his king. You start the game off playing a murderer that has to redeem himself. That's impressive for a SNES game (though the old translations try to soften the tone). This time around I'm playing the New Game Plus mode with fun stuff like the ability to rack up lots of EXP from a single battle and turn off encounters. Having a lot of fun revisiting one of my old favorites. Lastly for today II PSX: So I bought FF Origins to play II. I got it off Amazon for $10. I picked this one because it was the cheapest hard copy option. I started playing it on the PS3...and some of you might know where this is going. Turns out that the hard copy (the PSN version is fine) of Origins is one of the rare PSX games that does not work properly on the PS3. II can not be beaten because the game crashes at some triggers. I checked and there's at least one point you can not get pass. This is why I have the PS2 hooked up and why I skipped on over to XII to get it out of the way. Anyways, I only got a little ways into the game. The plot seems decent enough, though I see the issues with the battle system. It's a neat idea until you realize how you're suppose to increase HP. I'm going start over on the PS2 hardware soon. Thankfully I didn't get to far into the game before the glitch happened. |
I've been playing Overwatch a lot today, I need that new Sentai Genji skin (that looks more like Kamen Rider than Super Sentai...)

I've finished my playthrough of Final Fantasy II (PSX edition). Seems that my PS2 has issues with reading just this disc. I've tried others and everything works (side note, I loaded the Armada game and Gundam Battle Assault 2 for the first time in years, they're still fun). Because of that, I did long play sessions in hopes of finishing it before the PS2 craps out completely.
Anyways, about the game itself, I'm a little mixed on it. The story surprisingly engaging at first. It's basically Star Wars, but for a NES game that's kind of impressive. You are a group of rebels that are sent on missions to fight the Empire. The plot fizzle outs toward the end. I also spotted similarities to FFIV's plot, though mostly just the same tropes being used more effectively. That said,There is also a lot of backtracking in II, mainly to the rebel's base. I think it helped sometimes as a good way to not get lost when you weren't sure where to go next. This is the kind of game plot I give credit for effort mainly due to the time it was made. One of the more engaging things is the Keyword system. Some NPCs will say words in red. You can memorize those words, ask them about those words, or use items. Rather than the NPC just telling everything about says Dargoons, they'll just mention them and you have to memorize the word and then ask about Dargoons or maybe they don't know and you have to ask someone else. I've seen Western RPGs do this sort of thing with choices, but those all become convoluted very quickly. This is a simple version of that that only does what the it's suppose to, keep the player engaged in what being said. I wish Square tried to use this more, but then I remember how convoluted modern FFs are. Also, there's a bookcase that you can use most of the Keywords on to learn more about them. As for the battle system, I think there's a good battle system here, but it's a mess. The idea is stats go up as they're used in battle (or menu for some things) and this gets rid of "Levels." The problem is it doesn't get rid of levels, it adds more. Instead of increasing the character's Level, you now have to level each stat one by one. There are 10 Attributes (HP, STR, etc.), 8 weapons (including unarmed and shield), and 16 Spells (there's more spells, but characters can only have 16 max). This would be fine if some weren't a pain in the ass to level. The saving grace of this game's battle system are the 2 weapons that might be the 2 most broken things in Final Fantasy. The Blood Sword and Healing Staff. The Blood Sword will always hit for a precentage of the monster's MAX HP. Not current HP, but max. This means high HP bosses are easier than a lot random encounters. And you get 2 of that sword. Meanwhile, if the Healing Staff is used on a party member, they are healed. If the character has a good staff level, it will heal more HP than any spell could hope to in this game. All in all, FFII was an experiment that went badly. I feel this game is mostly forgotten because later games followed up on every concept in this game and did it better...except the Keyword system. I kind of wish another FF title tried again with that. |
Playing two games at the moment.
One of them is Tomodachi life on 3DS, I've had so much fun with this game since I got it a few weeks back, Ganondorf and Hatsune Miku had a Baby, so did Professor Layton and Trucy Wright, Vegeta wanted to date Dawn but she rejected him, it's fun. The other is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, I'm playing this just in case the disc begins going rotten soon so I want to experience this classic. |
Just beat Ryse: Son of Rome this weekend. Because it was free, so why the hell not? Actually wasn't that bad of a game. Certainly looked good.
Now I'm playing through LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga with my wife. Been making short work of it and are already to Episode VI, but definitely need to replay a lot for studs and bricks. |

So I've started a replay of V (using the PSX version). I haven't played this one in years and don't remember much of the story. I do remember enjoying the game and it's Class system. For some added fun I'm randomizing my Classes. There's 6 Classes to start with, so I rolled a die to select them (I'll probably draw names or something once I have more than 6).
Rules are simple: 1) No duplicate classes unless a character has mastered all other classes. 2) A character can only change after they've mastered that class, again randomized, but will be a new class. So after getting the first set of Classes my party looks like this: Bartz - Black Mage Reina - Knight Galuf - Thief Faris - Blue Mage That's right, no White Mage. This should be at least a bit interesting. |
Change of plans on FFV. Still doing randomized classes, but now it'll be every 3 job levels. I wanted to do this to make me use unique job classes and I forgot how long mastering a job took in this game (the endgame has great places to grind those levels). By the time I'll master any of these, I'll be near the end of the game.
So, I got to right before the Floating Ruins before making this change. Here's my new classes: Bartz - Black Mage-> Monk Reina - Knight-> Time Mage Galuf - Thief -> Bard Faris - Blue Mage -> Trainer Okay, now that's a challenge of a party. The good news is I have at least some healing options now. Reina can cast Regan (and use the super helpful Healing Staff) and Galuf has the Str. Song which also casts Regan. Trainers have limited use, so the ability to use Blue magic on Faris is a help. Bartz is the only heavy hitter here. I feel this set up will last a dungeon or 2 rather than a 1/3 of the game like the first set up. |

Like you said, kind of unsatisfying. |
Does anyone play For Honor here?
|
The Xbox Game Pass seems worth the money for now. There's a lot on there I enjoyed before or always wanted to play. Like I finally played Sunset Overdrive, and I'm liking Mega Coin Squad. Even replaying Fable 3 cause why not. I just hope that next time there's a few more XBOne titles. I enjoy the 260 ones, but it just seems that's what it almost all is is retro titles. Still. For 9.99 a month it's not bad. Better than Now on PS, stupid streaming never worked.
|
Yeah it seems really cool for anyone getting into things now or who just doesn't have a back catalog. For anyone who's played the biggest titles or keeps up consistently with Games with Gold (like me), there doesn't seem to be a whole lot appealing yet. But that's fine, just not necessarily the target audience for it. Quite like the idea of it still.
|
So I started playing Horizon and it's been fun thus far. I've put about 8-9 hours into the game and just got access to go outside the sacred grounds. Some of those machines have been annoying as hell, especially when there is suddenly a swarm of them attacking you. Graphically, it's beautiful and the controls are pretty smooth for the most part. Although, I wish there was a way to dodge enemies charging at you as that would be so much simplier than trying to run in a circle like a chicken with a head cut off.
|
I been paying LBX for the 3DS and its not bad could have a bit more from what I payed so far but for a robot beat em up game that you can use different parts combinations, weapons, special attacks it can be difficult but in the fun way. I got it for $10 used at GameStop and it is worth it.

finally got DB xenoverse 2 and i love so much more then first xenoverse game.
|
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
I made a few other characters for the sake of expanding the home village's population. I don't even plan on using them to be quite honest, my main character is still a Selkie. Quote:

I bought a One last year and I've realized all I've been playing, outside of one or two exceptions, have been 360 titles. Skyrim SE, the Mass Effect series, and on. The only One game I really play for any length of time is Forza Horizon 3. And usually then whenever a new Forzathon starts up.

Zero Mission is a fun game which I recommend for anyone getting in to 2D Metroid. It may not be the best game, let alone best 2D game in the franchise, but it's ultimately worth the 7 euros I paid for it. I think this is better than my first run too! Especially since I bumped up the difficulty this time |

Playing Metroid Fusion, which while chronologically later, is the less critically acclaimed 2D Metroid game that I own. Currently finished the first sector |
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, I was stuck for a while so I went to earlier dungeons to grind for Phoenix downs, most of my bag is Phoenix downs so I went in guns a blazing into the harder dungeons because I had a safety net.
DBZ Extreme Butoden, got it on an eshop sale the other day, it's been pretty fun. |
Started playing Star Trek Online and honestly? It's pretty dang fun so far. Has some issues here and there, and some stuff reallyneeds to be explained better, but I like it.

Me in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

So my adventures in Horizon today took me to another Cauldron that had the friggin Thunderjaw as a boss, but the reward for kicking its ass is that I can no override it, something called a Behemoth, and Stormbringer, and some other creature, so that's cool. Not sure how I would even knock any of those creatures down to even override them though since it's not like I can sneak up on them. Did a few more side quests and finally went to Meridian and learned what I do with all of my collectibles.
As much as I want to though, I doubt I'll be able to 100% this game since it is going to be impossible to find all of the data logs. |
