Kanata 02. When the Hollow Shadow comes to town!

God this show is GORGEOUS. The action may not be as grandiose in scale as something like Kill la Kill, but that just gives them more focus to make every frame gorgeous. Kuriyama's blood powers really are most awesome - even if she herself is so damn annoying.

Minus the visuals though this is sadly an anime flavoured anime, it really doesn't try a single new thing. And considering its short length, this episode slowed down the series A LOT. We learnt some new stuff, but it didn't seem particularly interested in going anywhere. Luckily the humour is really on point, to carry us through the more meh parts of the show.

WHat I mean though is, is the ending good? Does it answer 90% of the questions the show gives? Is it a conclusive ending or are things left open? Are they left open in a way where the ending at least feels satisfying? Or s it a reset button ending?

Build FIghters is ending this week, and it looks like Nobunaga the Fool is too…guess it's time to look for more animes to watch. :(

Watched the first episode of Doki Doki Precure... and obviously I loved it.

Alright time to play a game called "Give Poe A New Show!" Suggest me a show or film to watch. I like my anime serious but I also like comedy. I enjoy more down to Earth or real life like stories, but I'm not afraid to go completely out there. I like action, but I also like romance. I also like stuff that is pretty much in the vein of horror, but I'll dip my toe into an genre!

My favorite anime is Bakemonogatari and it's sequels, it's a show that deals with the supernatural, but not in the usual sense of ghost hunting and the like, instead oddities are tied to your emotional problems, and by grwoing up and facing your own falws you can leave them behind.

It also has some of the best and most engaging dialogue I've ever seen in any form of media.

For comedy Boku Wa Tomodachi Ga Sukunai (Haganai) always manages to make me laugh, I don't know why but it inmediately makes me happy.

You were one reason, me wanting an excuse to buy Figuarts Cure Heart was the other reason. :lol

I think I'm gonna stick with the shit that's been dubbed, damn subtitles distract too much, also I recommend MOTHER FUCKING BLACK LAGOON & MOTHER FUCKING HELLSING, THEY ARE BOTH BADASS & FUNNY AT THE SAME TIME :lol.

Bitches don't know how to deal with subtitles. I swear I must be one in a small percent within the fandom of anime who doesn't mind them.

Lol, sorry also I don't mind watching subs but it's just a distraction as you're trying to read the subtitles to figure out what the hell they're saying and at the same time trying to watch the actual damn thing, plus there are the instances where the subtitles are fucked up fansubs & not official ones, also if you haven't seen Black Lagoon yet, watch it is amazing and it's probably the only anime on Toonami right now that has its full opening & ending themes in use and it's TVMA so it's gonna be pretty damn funny :lol.

I thought it was pretty unanimous that the sub is better? If you can't read like four words at the bottom of a screen while concentrating on anything else...especially in a toku forum, then I worry...

Well I'm only talking about for anime dude, the Tokustatsu shows are a different case entirely, plus there are some animes that are better dubbed, like Black Lagoon I mean the way the characters sound in the dub are amazing & the whole first season in dub was hilarious, gonna be on episode 2 tomorrow with Toonami's usually one episode per Saturday night basis now that they are on Adult Swim, why the hell else do you think teen & adult animes are being aired on Toonami now :lol.

Saying that anime fans who prefer subs are in the minority couldn't be more backwards :lol

Well there are some animes that are subbed only even when licensed in North America sadly, but damn Black Lagoon is awesome in English.

Some series I like better in Japanese, others I like better in English. It all varies upon the voices. I prefer Tiger & Bunny, Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Wolf's Rain, Psycho Pass, and One Piece in English, while I like Escaflowne, Noir, Dragonball, most Gundam, Gankutsuou, and Yu-Gi-Oh! better in Japanese.

It just depends on who dubs it and how it is dubbed. If I get something from Funimation, I tend to watch it dubbed first and if the dub does not work for me, I will then switch over to the Jp version. However, I'd say 8 out of every 10 series released over the last several years have amazing dubs.

I like the dubs of childhood shows because that is what I grew up with, and hearing Goku with that helium voice or whatever is just super weird for me.

About the only shows I've seen as an adult where I liked the dub was Big-O because it sorta suits English better..? It's hard to describe.

And Darker than Black, as that featured characters from around the world and although a lot of the time it was laughable I did like that they tried to incorporate the nationalities into the voices and they weren't all just Japanime.

Yes, it answers most questions. I feel it is pretty conclusive. It was satisfying... up until a point. There is no sort of reset; there's no going back from where they went.

But there's just one thing at the very, very end that I can't go into detail about without ruining a great deal that... Does soil the ending. The return to the status quo stuck to that a bit too much.

Man this was an EPIC episode, I seriously fall in love with Ryuuko a little more every episode, that and the soundtrack. This episode felt like a call back to the best parts of the earlier episodes. It's just a shame about the constantly uncomfortable incestuous overtones.

Kill la Kill 23. Kinda hard to comment on an episode that is pretty much entirely action! This finale has so far been pretty poorly animated but full of epic moments which really celebrate the parts of this show I love.

Gonna check out the final episode in the morning and give my final show thoughts then as well.

I've seen NGE and Hellsing. Watched some of AOT and didn't like it. So I'll have to check out the rest by Google and take it from there.

Watch out for Bokurano, it involves a lot of dark themes similar to Madoka Magica, but involves rape too. Same thing with Narutaru, I believe.
