The problem is that Japan is only interested in what things look like rather than the purpose for them. It's abundant if you were a big anime fan in the 90's/early 00's and the overabundance of religious symbols that meant nothing other than "That looks kinda cool" were everywhere.

If they made a Sentai based on Norse mythology and actually did more than just naming characters "Thor" and "Odin", sticking to their guns, it could be really cool.

Though I am rather curious how they'd execute it. Like, the heroes would gain power from the mythological characters, or would Thor just jump down from Asgard and rather than join the Avengers he decided he wanted to be a Power Ranger instead :p

How I'd do it, is I'd have a set of six mythical items each relating to a Norse God, so like Thor's Hammer, Gjallarhorn, BrÃ*singamen etc etc and then when they wield them, they can tap into their specific god's powers and transform into their Ranger forms which are shaped around their specific God's appearance.

Gaining powers from mythological creatures sounds like Magiranger and their heavenly sainy concept.

A Norse Sentai does sound like a good idea. Plenty to work with with stories and merchandise/designs. Same goes for Greek.

Along those lines, how about another Chinese mythos based show?

True. Plus, it allows their to be a truly epic story with the show.

I think the religious talk stems to religions that people might be sensitive about, and not stuff like Greek or Norse :lol
