[Cries Internally]

I don't know how to feel right now. Still, I guess the finale really is next week.
|
Great episode with the context of subs. Can't wait to see next week for the final ending. Looks like Micchy is finally going to try and step up to be the hero the world needs without Kouta around.

Okay, so I was wrong when I predicted a Ryuki-esque reset ending. That's fine and I can live with it. Totally called Takatora still being alive, though. No body, no explosion, no death.
Pretty interesting ending with Kouta and Mai flying off to create their own new world. It's kind of a bummer, but there's a lot of cool hope wrapped up in there. I'm just really, really afraid that Toei is going to undo it either in next week's episode or the Movie War. There has to be some way to keep Gaim showing up in all the Super Hero Taisens, after all. I have my fingers crossed, but I'm expecting some kind of big, dumb retcon in the near future. The final fight with Kaito was pretty cool, too, although over a lot faster than I expected. To be fair, though, there was a lot of epilogue to get to and, while the emotional stakes were pretty high, this was definitely not one of the more visually interesting fight scenes in Rider history. All in all, though, it was a great ending to a very good show. I just hope they don't completely How I Met Your Mother it next week. Also, seriously, did Kouta just never bother telling anyone that Hase was dead? What the hell, dude? |

Well damn. What a finale (excluding next episode which looks to be a coda of sorts). To be honest though I'm not happy with how the show seems to be trying to redeem Micchy in some way. Zack, Kouta and now Takatora are offering him more forgiveness than he deserves. Mixed feelings on Takatora coming back as it's cool to see him back but again I feel Micchy doesn't deserve to get him back

Love the forgiveness for Micchy.
Kouta has stated all along that he doesn't hate Micchy, that Micchy just took a wrong turn and can still turn back and go down the right path. As Oren stated, Micchy was used and manipulated by the Overlords, and his punishment is having to live with everything he's done. To see him come back and redeem himself in the next episode and be a hero, not only does it prove me right (to an extent I suppose), but it's the final turn around for the character, meaning Micchy, to an extent, was really the main character all along. |
Character evolution/progression doesn't make him the main character. I believe it gives him the most depth of all of them but by no means would I consider him the focal point of the story. He's just a great example of an actual person with imperfections as opposed to the bastion of hope that Kouta is and the bull headed force of will that Kaitou is.

Absolutely loved it! No reset was needed. :)
