yeah, backwards compatibility is something that shouldn't be used as a selling point.
people have been wanting new games. |

And I also don't know how the initial PS3 backwards compatibility worked either. |
I agree with Gosei, it was something that should've been added from the get-go while the consoles were still building a decent library. And I think we can all agree at the very least that backwards compatibility is a nice convenience to have.

I don't think the Ps4 hardware has any ps3 components in it to make backwards compatibility easy, but I do think a sort of psuedo aolution involving a copy of the disc and PS now could suffice. The digital upgrade program of pse to ps4 games shows that PS4 can at least recognize ps3 discs, so I think unlimited access to the ps now version of the ps3 game in your disc drive as long as it in is there would be a nice solution. |

again, I'd rather they focus on making NEW GAMES than trying to make the old stuff playable on the new consoles.
backwards compatibility adds no incentive to buying the console, whatsoever. especially when PS2s and PS3s are way cheaper than a PS4. they should just focus on the new stuff. push the new hardware, master it, make it better. |
I'm not at all shocked at how quick people said "Sony wins!" after seeing the trailer for the HD remake of FF7, but read the fine print.
The end of the trailer says "Play it first on Playstation 4". Nowhere did it say exclusive. As for Uncharted, I'm sure it'll be a great looking game, but it'll be the same mechanics as the first 3. Heck, it didn't even work right when they went to show it off. As for Shenmue, let's get excited for it when they actually start developing it. The only thing he did was ask everyone to contribute to the kickstarter for it. I'd have no problem saying Sony won if they actually did, but Xbox just had a more solid conference even without the news of backwards capability. The only exclusives I saw for Sony were Last Guardian, Street Fighter V, and Uncharted. We also still have Nintendo to go, but unless they pull off a major bombshell, it's gonna be tough. Everyone is riding the high from the first day's announcements. Oh,and if you want me to explain why I think Xbox did better,I'd be glad too. |
Sony helped make Final Fantasy VII (I think); I don't think besides being on Mobile or PC anything FFVII has only been on Sony Consoles.
I would love if Sony puts Backwards Capability to the PS4 so I don't need to switch systems but honestly since my parents had me get rid of my SNES and Sega Genesis I haven't got rid of a system since so it doesn't make a difference. I want so many PS4 games right now. Honestly it's a matter of opinion because nothing Xbox has announced makes me want an Xbox and I have never owned a Microsoft system. I love Nintendo and Sony so I am more inclined to be excited for what they announce. |
