Thank you very much for the detailed info, I appreciate it! From read this series seems to have abit of everything I love in a tv show. I like 'grown-up' Toku shows that put emphasis on a not so happy situation that's bleak and dark. Even though I always head over to Sentai and Kamen Rider shows for my dose of happy, silly fun.

Seems like they have already finished with post production of both BLACK BLOOD and MAKAI's FLOWER.
Also Ryuga's movie will be aiming for international film fest later this year.

Zero Black Blood is a 6 episode short series.
First 3 episodes will be on air on CS family Channel on March 5 for 3 straight nights.
On March 8 the 3 episodes will be shown in theaters as The White Chapter, and The Black Chapter will be in theaters on March 22.

In April CS Family channel will start Garo Season 4 Makai no Hana.

Man I wish Equip & Prop was still around. Or at least that they'd SIC/Makaikado some more knights in human form. That last Kouga they did was pretty awesome. Rei not so much, but not completely awful either.

So in his spinoff, is that other dude in the trenchcoat supposed to be another makai priest or is he a new knight?

Kain is a priest. His partner Yuna on the other hand wields a soul metal sword.

No mention of new weapon for Zero, and yes Kain's default tool is an umbrella.

The hilts on his swords look completely different than they did in the show, unless he used them in show and I just forgot about them.

Wait so Kain is a Knight who fights with an umbrella?! So awesome.

Yuna wields soul metal?!? Cool! I know in the past they've said women can't be knights, which is why they become priests. I can't wait to find out what her story is!

A woman wielding soul metal is peculiar. I wonder if they'll go so far as to give her Makai Armor or she will just happen to have the willpower to wield the weapons. It'd be great to see the first female Makai Knight not in a Pachinko game!

Yaiba is a gender bender, not a "pure" female knight.

Akira/Misa still had armor specifically in his/her female form and not his/her male form.

Is there even an in-universe for no female Makai Knights except for "cooties"?

Not in the series proper, probably explained in supplementary material. I still can't think of Yaiba as a female knight, though, guess that's just me. It's Misaki, BTW.

Akira still have to summon his armor in male form so no worry.
Yaiba may look feminine but it is still a guy's armor.
Just think of him as a slim guy.

I don't think Akira changes into female form while inside the armor.
From the text I think he uses his Misaki identity for undercover operation, and diversion. He does have a thing for Kouga while he is Misaki...

Some pachinko machines have videos that play on a screen but yeah, entire stories and Pachinko only CGI scenes are created for it. The Garo pachinko game is pretty sweet because at times a physical Garo mask will pop up from the sides of the screen.

No he/she was originally from the novel Yoseki no wana which featured the previous Sabakku. He doesn't transform into a female knight, Akira actually has a female form called Misaki like DrillBit said. It's kinda like Ranma 1/2, if you ever watch that. Akira's madogu partner Giruba, even calls him Akira after transforming, so yeah, I don't think Akira transforms into Misaki while in the armor.

Or that. I really don't know much about the non-film aspects of Garo.

So I finally watched Soukoku No Mayruu after putting it off for ages in the hope of Over-time subbing it.

What the hell did I just watch?

Don't get me wrong it was a brilliant film, just it was just downright bizarre. Its quite interesting to see Kouga's story evolve from this macabre horror into just plain fantasy.

The backdrops and design were beautiful. Without a doubt the best looking toku film I've seen and certainly up there for films in general.

It blew my mind when I realized Zangetsu was Kakashi. Really cool flick, I thought. Cool to see Garo take a backseat and remind everyone how badass Kouga is all by his lonesome with any ol sword

I have a question. Does Shougeki Gouraigan directly tie into the Garo universe or not acknowledge each other like Rider and Sentai did for 40 some odd years?

There is a small Garo in-joke in episode four where Mika Hijii has a cameo. Otherwise there is no connection because the shows aren't meant to be related to each other in any way, they just have the same director.
