After having the Nausicaa box set sitting untouched on my shelf for I don't know how long, finally started reading through it this week. I have read it before, so it's not like I didn't know, but man. This manga is super good.
Still have the last volume to go, and that's when things get freaky. Hoping to wrap it up later this evening. |
So I'm at Ocean City at the moment for the week until Sunday. So with little to no Internet, I've been reading some manga.
Ajin: Demi-Human - I only have one more volume to go and it seems like there is only seven volumes released in the US. I would have finish the last few volumes if I was not so busy. I will say that Ajin: Demi-Human is one of my favorite manga of this decade. This manga had me hook from start to finish. This manga has a really strong story with a great cast of characters and great writing. The art work is fantastic and really captures the dark and gritty feel of the story's atmosphere. I highly recommanded checking out this manga because it does a great job on creating action, mystery, drama and horror in a world filled with interesting characters. I plan to watch the anime when I get home on Netflix. So far, the manga is still on going and I hope the story keeps on going strong. I may to read the newest chapters online as the next volume won't be out until October 2016 in the US. Twin Star Exorcists - After reading the first volume, this manga is rather boring. I don't find the story and characters that interesting. The artwork is pretty good and that's pretty much it. I just can't get into this manga and it was hard for me to stay awake when reading the first volume. Maybe if I read volume two of the manga, things will get better. So far, this manga has not offer me anything interesting that other supernatural theme manga have not done before like Ushio and Tora, D.Gray-man, Blue Exorcist (or from what I've seen from it) and YYH. Overall, this manga so far is meh. My Hero Academia - I finish the first three volumes. Very fun and enjoyable series so far. I love the world and characters that exist in this manga. The action and humor are pretty good. Not to mention the art work is pretty solid too. I plan to watch the anime series when I get back home seeing that it's only 13 episodes. So far, I like this manga and I will keep on getting more volumes in my collection. I like Tiger & Bunny and One Punch Man better, but MHA is still pretty good. Ultraman - I finish volumes 3 and 4. I love this manga and this manga is just too awesome. The story keeps on getting better and the artwork is great. I love the story and characters. I've been a fan of this manga since the first volume that I bought from last year. I really want a anime adaption of this manga. I can see Sunrise or Madhouse making a Ultraman manga anime adaption. Maybe it can work as a late night anime TV series or OVA series. The manga feels like it was made for older fans of the series. So it could work as a anime market to older fans (teens and adults). When I get home, I will finish the rest of Oniwakamru: The Visitor |
Currently reading Star Wars: Republic Commando: True Colors. I will be able to finish it before this weekend since I have around 60 pages of it left, I hope. Trying to decide what Star Wars novel to read next. The choices, for now, are Tales of the Bounty Hunters, The Courtship of Princess Leia, or Darth Bane: Rule of Two.
|
Having read all of them, Rule of Two, no questions asked.
Oh, and I'm about to finish up Dark Disciple. |
It's a shame that I have until October for the next Ajin volume in the US. I don't know sites that post chapters as soon as they are posted in Japan since it's a not a Viz manga.
|
Anyone one here read "The Name of the Wind"? i just finshed that one it was good book, made me laugh a few times

Just finished reading Star Wars: Darth Bane: Rule of Two. It's a pretty solid followup of Darth Bane: Path of Destruction and I am looking forward to reading the third and final book of that particular trilogy, Dynasty of Evil, somewhere down the line since I bought it just last week. But for now, it's onward to the next SW novel, Tales of the Bounty Hunters.

Taking a big break from one manga I started at the beginning of July called Mahou Shojou of the End or Magical Girl Apocalypse in English
Started off good but where I left off it seemed like they were just pulling stuff out their ass. Got curious about it after seeing the cover of volume 2 in Barnes and Nobles and well . . . you can see why it got my attention. |
Ah, Mahou Shoujo of the End. I too got curious about it sometime last year. When I caught up it was around chapter 23, don't even know what's happened with it since...it certainly is a weird one. It has some interesting ideas, but it's...very strange and has so much going on that a lot of it really feels like ass-pulls.

I'm reading Maul: Lockdown right now. And it already put me off a little with the first chapter. :lol Kind of hard for me to keep insisting that even in old canon they did their best to make things work together (even though where were always going to be inconsistencies when you have such a large franchise with so many types of media) when the very first thing the next-to-last Legends novel published does is slap in the face of another novel-only storyline that should be easiest to consider... By having Maul fighting a Yuuzhan Vong before Episode I even happens. >_< But after we got past that, yay, more Maul! |
I'm so close to being caught up with Berserk, and I'm dreading it, because once I do I'm at the mercy of it's infamously slow release schedule.
|
Bought the newest volume of My Hero Academia and read it in one sitting. I absolutely love this series. It's also nice to have a series that I can follow, but I hate waiting for the volumes to release. I guess I could read it online, but I want to support the release and collect the series. Ugh.
I guess I have like 12 volumes of Dragon Ball and like 25 volumes of Rurouni Kenshin (collected most of it in my early teens and haven't read it since...forgot almost everything that happens) to keep me entertained until then... Also, read Gwenpool #3 last night. One of the few comic series I actually have been really enjoying and find it worth following. I have issue #4 as well, will probably read that soon. |
I give up on reading Twin Star Exorcist. The first volume was boring to read and the second volume was just as boring. Maybe the anime TV series is better, but I find Twin Star Exorcist to be another cliche Shonen manga (in a bad way). The characters are boring and the story is not that interesting. The art work is good, I give you that. It reminds me when I try to get into D. Gray Man in 2008 (I didn't like D. Gray Man at all).
People told me to check out Blue Exorcist instead because it's much better. I never seen Blue Exorcist expect for bits of it on Toonami and I never read the manga. |
Bunch of DC stuff mainly Titans and Superman being my focus. Superman really is the Goku of DC only difference being Lois does not pester her son to study like crazy and be a scholar.

I am currently reading Star Wars: Splinter of the Mind's Eye which is the very, very first foray into the franchise's old Expanded Universe in novel format. It is written by the same author who has ghostwritten for George Lucas in the film novelization version of A New Hope and even went on to write the film novelization version of The Force Awakens. Seems pretty interesting so far.
|
I'm trying to find decently priced copies of the Resident Evil: Marhawa Desire manga. Read volumes 1&2.

Also reading Monster Musume vol 9, things have gotten to an interesting point with Mero's mom trying to drive a wedge between humans and mermaids for the sake of tragic romance and Lala turning someone into a zombie to save their life. Is it just me reading this; it's a ecchi series but damn the writing's really good in this! |
Dose anyone here read the Cosmere?
|
Just finished reading Star Wars: Splinter of the Mind's Eye. It's a pretty interesting read. Also, did you know that this book was originally written to be filmed as a low-budget sequel to A New Hope in case the film itself wasn't considered a success? Anyway, it's onward to the next SW novel, The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance and then followed by Republic Commando: Order 66.
|
Made a list recently and I have 31 Star Wars Legends books left to read, among them Splinter of the Mind's Eye. Considering making it the very last one I read.
In the meantime I've gone back to A Song of Ice and Fire with A Feast for Crows. |
Still reading Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance. I now have at least 100 pages left to read and hopefully, I will be able to finish it either sometime this week or the next so I can get down to the next SW novel on my (unofficial) reading list, Republic Commando: Order 66.
|
I'm now reading Star Wars: Republic Commando: Order 66 and I'm already close to the halfway point of the novel. Next SW novel after this is The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime. After that, it's The Old Republic: Annihilation.
Will take a minor break from them in between by reading Batman: Noel and A Zombies Christmas Carol in a week or two since the holidays are coming up and all that jazz. |
Spent a chunk of the day...yesterday I guess, and now today as well...reading the first volume of Vertical's release of Bakemonogatari. Really fucking fun and really great. Makes me wish I wasn't avoiding reading Kizu for my own reasons. And...that the releases for the other two volumes hadn't been delayed. Hell, while I'm at it, also that they hadn't split up the original two volumes into three. Oh well.
Really good read. Had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion, and it was certainly a better experience than the anime adaptation--or so I say, but as I watched it around 3 or 4 years ago, it's hard to say. (Man, time sure flies, what the hell). Whatever the case, I have a newfound appreciation for at least one of the characters and the story in general. I hope I have as much fun with the other installments, and that Vertical is able to continue with this series well beyond Nise. But man, it sure took me a while to get though this one book. It isn't even that thick. I remember being a way faster reader. I think all that manga may have rotted my brain. |
Finished reading Star Wars: The Old Republic: Annihilation last night and with this, I have now completed reading all of The Old Republic tie-in novels.
Now, I just started taking up reading up on musical librettos since I have been listening to various versions of musical soundtracks as well as watching a few stage productions and concerts and even a few film adaptations about certain musicals as of late including Rent, Sweeney Todd, and Little Shop of Horrors and a few others. |
I am currently reading Dungeoneering For Assholes. Both volumes are quite helpful and I can not wait till Volume 3.
|
Well, Yamada and the Seven Witches is finally over. It certainly felt like it went on for longer than it needed to and the resolution was rushed, but at least there was one and it was quite the happy ending. Perfect way to start off one's day reading that chapter heh.
|
Found myself finally getting back to reading Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Wild Space on which I haven't done in a year or so ago since I first started it. I almost forgot about how much I enjoyed Karen Miller's writing of most of the major and supporting characters of TCW series.
|
Finishing up on reading a musical libretto of Avenue Q while watching on of the stage productions of it.
Also, after a year or so since I've read the film novelization versions of the first two films of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, I've finally got myself started on reading the film novelization version of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and from I've heard about it, it really goes beyond adapting the movie from screen to page and is basically considered as Matthew Stover's magnum opus amongst his Star Wars writings. |
Just finished reading Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith film novelization and it really is good as they say it is. I can definitely say this one, as well as the film novelization versions of TPM and AOTC, are among the Star Wars novels I highly recommend. Even if you aren't a fan of the prequel film trilogy, they are still seriously worth checking out.
Now, I'm trying to decide which Star Wars novel to read next. The choices are The Force Unleashed or Dawn of the Jedi: Into The Void. EDIT: Never mind. I have now read them both in their entirety. Next SW novel: The Force Unleashed II. |
I'm currently reading, well re-reading anyway, The Disaster Artist. It's a very fascinating read about the behind the scenes difficulties/experiences that Greg Sestero had during the making of the famously bad movie called The Room as well as his unlikely friendship with Tommy Wiseau. The book itself is getting a film adaptation which will be released on December 8th after getting a limited release a week beforehand and is starring James Franco and his brother. Yeah, definitely a non-fiction novel I highly recommend and I don't even read them all that much, if at all.
|
I never caught on the Naruto craze but decided to get on the Boruto bandwagon. Also I am contemplating finishing Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
|
Currently trying to get through the film novelization version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Thankfully, I'm already more than halfway through it. Only 70 pages to go.
|
I just read Dark Days: The Forge and I have to say it's excellent. This is only a prologue of what's to come but it still is great. It's nice to see the Hawks, Lady Blackhawk, Plastic Man, and best of all, the Joker. We haven't seen him since Batman Endgame and it turns out he's been stuck in the Batcave this entire time. This entire series is about Hawkman's Nth metal and how Batman is trying to understand the power behind it. Next issue, Dark Days: The Casting, will also be a prologue until the Dark Days: Metal series official begins.
|
I am, once again, going through yet another Star Wars novel of the current continuity (I already read through The Force Awakens film novelization and Before The Awakening beforehand) in a personal reading marathon of sorts and this time, it's Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel. Once I'm finished with it, it will be followed by the film novelization version of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. After that, it's Lords of the Sith.
|
Hey I'm reading that one too right now!
|
Just finished reading Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film novelization. Now, it's onward to the next "current canon" SW novel, Lords of the Sith. After that, it's Battlefront: Twilight Company. Four down, at least seventeen to go.
|
Managed to finish Star Wars: Battlefront: Twilight Company today. It was okay. Outside of an somewhat interesting concept of the war between The Rebel Alliance and The Empire through the viewpoint of soldiers of the former that fought in the trenches and a few chapter taking place during one of the events of The Empire Strikes Back which is the Battle of Hoth, it's really nothing to write home about. I am currently on Star Wars: Thrawn on which I'm already up on its second chapter, soon to be on its third. After that's finished, it's onward to the next SW current continuity novel, The Weapon of a Jedi.
